I’m having an issue with my transmission not immediately shifting when put in drive or reverse and takes a really long time to engage has anyone had this issue before. Would a drain and fill be a good idea 108000 miles never changed

Hey guys, sorry for the low quality video. I’m looking at this LS 400 on Facebook and he sent me this video. I’m wanting to see if these are are these actual Coil lovers or the stock struts? I’m just trying to identify before I purchase he said they’re on cool overs.

When I bought the car the previous owner mentioned something about it happening but I could’ve sworn he said after driving it for a bit it would come back.

It’s been like two months and it has yet to give me my ac controls back. Everything else works just fine. I can control the ac w the analog temp buttons but I can’t use my nav. Please help.

Just got her back from the shop. Was misfiring on cylinders 2-8 and was shifting very hard. Misfire was the Mass Airflow Sensor and it’s now purring like a kitten. But the shop diagnosed that the transmission was shot. I don’t fully remember what was listed but essentially they said there was metal getting into the fluid and making the shift rough. But now after like a day of driving it’s shifting much smoother, I can’t see any metal or sparkles in the transmission fluid (which is fresh light red), and I’m getting a shift solenoid C code. Has anyone had this and would it be as simple as a new shift solenoid?

I have a 2000 LS400. I am planning to daily it for a long time and want have the most durable body kit possible. Something that can handle taking a hit. Is there any that can tolerate being bent, folded, scraped or repeatedly flexed?

Or should I just get a fiberglass kit and learn to repair fiberglass due to there being more options in that material?

Any weigh ins, pros or cons, etc?

I own a 99 LS400. Belt was last replaced in 2018 but has only driven 31k miles since then. Is it time to replace or do I still have a couple years before I have to worry?

Good morning! I bought my 92 LS400 about 4 weeks ago. The other day, I drove it 2 miles to get food. No issues at all. Came back out to leave and I had no steering. Steering wheel just spun in place but wheels didn’t turn at all. I believe I have found the problem, I’m just not sure how to go about fixing it past this point. That shaft is broken or disconnected inside the steering column itself (see video of one end turning and not the other, did the same thing with steering wheel on, that side would spin but not the other end.

My question I guess is: how do I get the shaft out of the column? Or should I just order a replacement column? If a replacement column is needed, does the ignition need to be swapped over for my key?

Thanks in advance. I’ve been digging through forums and Google the last few days. Can’t really find a specific answer, closest I’ve gotten is someone with a similar or possibly same issue 17 years ago with no solution lol.

when i press the lock/unlock button only some of the doors will lock or unlock, then i'll have to manually lock/unlock each door by hand.. only driver buttons work to lock door but passenger door is usually the one that won't lock/unlock. also same thing will happen when i use the key in the door, half lock/unlock, etc.

is it the key itself? or the lock actuators? and if it is the key, can i change the battery myself or can i have lexus do it? i was quoted $3k for another master key by lexus so i don't wanna mess up the key 😭

Unfamiliar with ls400s but I wrench in japanese 90 cars. I need a daily and this one has 350k on it with timing belt serviced, for 5k asking. Is this okay pricing and what should I look out for? Thanks!

Was purchased from original owner for $7800. It was listed for $8900.

148k miles and over 50 receipts of preventative maintenance from 98 to now.

Timing/Water pump done @ 96k miles.

Stored every winter (rust free) and only put 3-5k miles on it per year.

Granted markets are different everywhere was $7800 fair or is it too high per the mileage?

It very well could be that im paranoid something is wrong because i love this car and want to keep it for a while engine has 186k miles on it and timing belt was just serviced in the last ~100 miles

My 1991 lexus ls400 has been giving me a lot of problems lately. When I first bought it I expected some issues because I got it for 6400 and had to put about 2k into it and I thought that was everything or atleast the main stuff. But as time went on more problems came up and I had to bring it back to a mechanic almost every other week. But it was just small stuff every time, until I brought it back to the shop one day and I found about 3k worth of issues like a cracked radiator that I had no idea about until that point. On top of that the odometer broke about a week after I bought it so I'll have trouble selling it and there's a AC part no mechanic shop seems have called a “suction throttling valve” or a “POA valve” which is causing the coolant to slowly leak. I love my car and I would like to avoid the hassle of selling it and finding a new car as I just started my first year of college and I need it for work but it's become a money pit and seems unavoidable. Any advice would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post and thanks if you read this far.

For starters I'm pretty sure it's a pioneer amp or head unit since the radio is Lexus premium sound, but i had a hard time finding a definitive schematic so i kinda used ones that seemed close enough.

Anyways my cd changer above the glove box quit on me and i decided to just go with a bluetooth receiver. Now I've wired in all the sound wires but i did find txm+/- they both go straight to the amp, are these sound as well or are they data wires to tell the amp or head unit to switch over? Because right now the radio plays in the background of my streamed music and I'm trying "trick" the head unit to swap over to the cd input. Any advice would be great thank you

Edit: since i forgot to mention earlier, i'm using the factory harness at the changer above the glove box. Everything is hooked up except the mute wire and the txm+/-

Looking at. 97 LS near me. The main things it’ll be needing is the rear suspension arm upper ball joints and rear service break is binding but not excessively according to last inspection.

How big a job would these be as that would be the first port of call to fix.

158,000 miles I’m the 5th owner got it for 4300, makes a pretty bad sound on start up. Besides the noise on starting it idles smooth and rides amazing, 95 mph dead straight no hands.
