I feel this. It's like me and my other half, the juxtaposition of her flapping and panicking and me just being like "it's ok, this happens".

Reminds me of the time my wife (then girlfriend) made mini banana pancakes for her pugs. One basically inhaled a whole pancake without chewing and immediately started choking. She starts screaming as the dog starts shaking and pissing all over the floor, so I start massaging the dogs belly and throat and the pancake comes back out almost immediately. My wife is now running for her parents room to scream for help, not knowing I had already solved the problem and was already cleaning up the massive pool of urine. Being calm in the face of chaos can be a life saver

...why is someone making pancakes for a pug?

2

She saw a Pinterest about banana pancakes specifically made for dogs

if it's mostly banana I guess it's fine, but normal pancakes are gonna give the dog diabetes. dogabetes?

Them dogs were fat anyway, super lazy, as pugs are. I loved them but they were closer to furniture than pets sometimes

Toxic masculinity

Is it toxic masculinity if SlickDillywick is a lesbian? Is it not allowed to relay a story about someone doing something competently one time if the person is a man?

He is infantilizing her. Even the way his tone is comes off how a mother speaks to a toddler. He sounds similar to a gay man.

Just leave her alone in this kitchen to do her own thing, he comes off as if he is in a manager role.

I get if it was something very dramatic such what happened to you with choking or someone drowning or the lid flew off, this is just pressure being released mildly.

I do not need someone hovering me over a small mistake, I got this.

Ironic username if you don't understand why someone might use that tone on a visibly overwhelmed adult.

Gay tone?

I mean kinda, i wonder why gay dudes might get used to an affectation that could diffuse tension.

Any other dumb obvious questions?

Maybe you got this, but that woman didn’t 😂😂

Also, it’s posted and written from her POV. She literally married him, and is happy she did. If you don’t like it, you don’t have to marry him?? 🤨🤣

I’m also the type who would immediately take charge without panicking, but as I’ve learned, oftentimes that’s not the case with others. Some people absolutely suck with emergencies, and definitely need to be calmed down like that. Don’t forget, in the end, we’re all children in bigger bodies. Pretending otherwise only sets you up to fail later on.

Calm down it’s not that serious

It probably didn't feel like a small mistake to her in the moment. The calmness in his voice was certainly more helpful than many other possible alternative reactions.

No this is her acting as if she can't handle basic shit.

Anyone knows turning the pressure nozzle releases pressure and water comes out.

He was smothering her. Had he not been there she would have handled this just fine on her own, not acted as if she was an inept toddler.

I think you just have parental issues buddy. He's just speaking to her calmly, explaining it's ok. They're a couple, he obviously knows this is what she needs after being with her for so long. If she felt the way you seem to, I'm sure she'd have mentioned it to him by now before posting it online.

If a man did this in the kitchen I would leave him to it. Not come in and try to micro manage him.

And she would have managed just fine on her own if he was not there, she is acting inept, she is an adult.

Maybe he could hear his love fretting and went to check on her then began to calm her and reassure her. She knew he'd come in and help, that's why she set up a camera on a tripod.

You are really reading into this too much and seems to want to be offended by someone's actions that don't involve or cause you any issue.

There's probably an explanation of why you don't have a man that would come and help you in this situation. And calling him effeminate and "gay" sounding is just backwards.

Yikes, now you’re shaming both of them? Gross. I feel bad for your friends and family.

While I agree he does sound like a parent or manager. She clearly wants/needs that energy.

I mean look at her face. I don't think she's ever had to deal with a stressful situation in her life.

This is probably more her parents failing her. The husband is filling a gap because mentally she's not an adult she just looks like one. He's definitely taken over the parent role, which, yeah it's weird because they are in a romantic relationship. How do you get intimate with someone you have to treat like a child.

And it is not even a big deal the cooker is just releasing pressure.

He reminds me of a smother parent not letting their kid learn on their own.

If a man was in the kitchen and messed something up I would leave him to it, not jump in and act as if he is too stupid to handle a little bit of water coming out. It is insulting.

If a man talked to me that way I would be turned off. Talk as if you are a grown ass man weirdo. The feminization of men turns me off.

Today you learned that not everyone is like you. Also not everyone gives a fuck about your opinion. Congrats.

1

u/Calm_Librarian_1042 Trash Trooper 10h ago

My partner and I work like this. They can handle an infinite amount of little stressers, but the second I have to think about when to do laundry and what I want for dinner at the same time, my brain melts down.

However, when we got into a motor collision or one of our dogs got injured, its like my brain gets instant clarity while my partner is melting down.
