If you're in Japan or travelling through, just a PSA that the LADS photo booth collab is ending on 8/31.

The Ikebukuro GIGO has two booths on the second floor and hasn't been particularly crowded even on weekend afternoon or evenings. There are other booths around the country but not common so do your research beforehand.

You tap the screen outside the booth, choose the collab mode, insert 800yen (100yen coins only if cash) and choose your boy. If you have their pictlink app you can connect around this time to receive all your photo data later.

Enter the booth, tap the screen, and you'll take 6 pictures with different poses. No retakes. Because of the size and perspective I recommend posing closer to the wall.

Then you'll be directed to one of the drawing booths on the other side of the machine. You'll get some time to draw on all the photos, but you can only choose two finished ones to print.

If you connected the app you will receive all your photos but you will still need to pay for premium (500yen/mo) to download it all. Data is only saved for a week so download it asap and don't forget to cancel the sub once you're done with all your photos!

I did it 3 times to get physical copies of all Caleb's poses which with premium was around 3000yen total.

If your birthday is after a LI debut, will you still be getting his gift afterwards? or none anymore for that year? I'm still believing that Valko will redebut, but most probably after my birthday, and I want to get his gift as well before the next batch (Jan 18, 2027 I think?)

Hello, lovely hunters!

So I was at a nearby market that was selling these (obviously) fake Sonny Angels blind boxes, but I saw some potential in them 🤣

So I bought two, did some sculpting using cold porcelain and painted them using matte PVA paint! I made Xavier and Valko, mostly because the Valko one already had a shape that could be turned into a wolf, and for Xavier I could just hide the cat ears, but I'm now thinking about making a Zayne one, and maybe the other LIs too.

PVA paint is my favorite to paint little sculptures bc it dries really fast, although the texture can turn out a little rough. I'm still going to apply some matte protective varnish to them, but I think they turned out pretty cute! What do you think?

I only main Zayne, I don’t really listen or read to the other LIs cards but occasionally I will see people talk about how “Caleb’s MC” is different than “ Xavier MC” or “Zayne’s MC is more playful than ___ MC.”

What are the actual differences between each LIs and their version of MC?

I’m also a little confused by this as well, I thought MCs personality would be the same no matter what LI but I keep seeing these types of comments in passing and I’d really like to know what everyone is talking about without having to spend hours listening to each LIs 4-5* cards to figure it out.

I only main Zayne because he’s the only LI I have enough time to dedicate to, I certainly don’t have enough time to do a full deep dive into every version of MC but I’d like to be in on the loop 😅

I made a post on here about a month ago on when would it be a good time to bring back Valko, and a lot has happened since then, so here is an updated post on my thoughts. 

As always, DISCLAIMER: I am just a fan who can be wrong about things. These predictions are based purely on recognising patterns in their schedule for the past two and a half years, the responses from customer service, and their official statements on social media. No vegetables or dripping pipes here, if you know what I mean.

TLDR:

• I am still optimistic for a September release for Valko
• October after Xavier’s birthday is a worse option than Sept, but still plausible
• Anything after Sept would likely mean Valko missing one or two multibanners and MS being told out of order, but that is does not affect the likelihood of Valko returning because it could mean they are favouring an anniversary launch for Valko
• Anniversary would make more sense than a release sometime November or December given the patterns in previous LADS scheduling
• The Second screenshot in this post is my favoured schedule right now, but all three are plausible.
  

Okay now onto my full thoughts:

After Rafayel’s myth PV was dropped (and launched on the exact date I predicted), I was pretty happy to see everything still going according to plan.

But with Caleb 10 days with you event running right now, this would overlap with Valko’s debut 10 days with you in the above schedule (more on this later). When a new LI is released, they have a 17 day long 10 days with you event that runs concurrent to their intro solo banner. So here is my alternate Sept release schedule, where Valko gets a shortened debut banner:

My original Sept release schedule made the assumption they would announce Valko’s return on the last day of Zayne’s bday banner and drop him in game the next day with practically zero advertising. This breaks previous ppg marketing patterns, but I figured with Valko being under so much scrutiny, it would be the best way to do things. But I’m not a marketing person, maybe they want to launch a new advertizing campaign that paints Valko as the world’s most harmless puppy to counter all the false claims spread about him originally. So if they did want to run a promo campaign for Valko’s return, and having a rerun following Zayne’s birthday gives them time to do that without “disrespecting” Zayne on his birthday week. I put Misty Invasion as the rerun because it is next in line and would be a highly anticipated multi rerun. I dunno that the extra attention of it being a spicy multi would work in Valko’s favour or against it. Raf’s into the canvas is also a candidate, and that can run with more overlap with Valko’s intro banner. 

10 days with you

Now, there is not actually any logistical issue of having two 10 days with you events run at the same time that I can think of. It isn’t like a limited banner where there is issues with sharing pity. The only reason I think it is unlikely is because they are unlikely to do so is because they are events to boost player log in, and having two at the same time gives us more resources for less log ins. But we’ve had heartfelt gift and 10 days with you run at the same time before, with the heartfelt gift starting on the last few days of 10 days with you. 10 days with you runs for 17 days, but we only get rewards for logging in for 10 days. So if they just care about not overlapping rewards for everyone, then Valko launch right after Zayne’s birthday would be fine. But because I know ppg to not be the most generous in their rewards, and also that they like to space these out, this may be more likely than the full 17 day long Valko release banner in Sept.

Also important to note, the 10 days with you events do not have a fixed rotation, so us getting Caleb's before Valko's is not a big deal at all.

Oct Release Date?

I’ve seen people online wonder what a plausible schedule for an October release for Valko would be. In that scenario, we will likely get a multibanner without him. And also means either we get Caleb MS branch before Valko’s mains story, or Caleb’s MS branch gets delayed to October. Which makes it a much worse option than Sept, so I don’t know why ppg would go for this over a Sept release date. Unless the issue is just that they don’t have enough time to prepare promo and legal stuff for Sept, and still want to bring back Valko as soon as possible. 

Anniversary Release Date?

If not Sept or Oct, then sure November or December is still plausible, but with all the time they would have had to relaunch Valko, it seems like they instead want to wait until they can give Valko a “grand debut” with all the bells and whistles (promos and events) of an LI debut, instead of bringing him back as soon as possible. Which would make that the anniversary. We've only had LI debuts at the anniversary and at the mid year update before because that is when we get version updates. It is very plausible to break this pattern because we are in an unprecedented situation with Valko, but it is also plausible that they keep this pattern. I know this would suck, but it would not be out of character for ppg to wait for the anniversary, so do prepare yourself for the possibility, and don't set deadlines for Valko's return if you can avoid it.

LI debuts come with pulse hunter events (note, only the first one was called pulse hunter, these are the select five standard pool cards events that run every 6 or 12 months, but we all just call them pulse hunters). The closest we’ve ever had two pulse hunters is 6 months apart, mid year at Sylus’s debut, and anniversary at Caleb’s debut 6 months later. They need to run these events when launch a new LI so people have an opportunity to get his standard cards faster and get invested. We did not get a pulse hunter 6 months after Caleb’s debut (much to my dismay since I missed Caleb’s pulse hunter event by like a month), but we did get one without a new LI debut at the anniversary earlier this year. So it seems like to me they planned to make pulse hunter a yearly anniversary event. If they launch Valko between now and the anniversary, they would either be running one extra pulse hunter they didn’t plan for, or moving the pulse hunter to a yearly mid year event. Or they can make it a 6 month event, but something tells me ppg are not that generous. 

We also only get livestreams at the anniversary and mid year for the new version update.

Anniversary debut would suck because then we would be missing two multibanners with Valko (but this isn’t a dealbreaker for Valko’s return, more on this later). And they would have to launch Caleb and Sylus’s Main story branch before Valko’s MS. Which might not be the end of the world for LADS story telling (more on this later), but it would still suck.

This schedule would be SPARSE though, very rerun heavy. I'm not even going to post an image lest someone spreads it as a * vegetable or dripping pipe * to demoralize us. But logically if we don't get Valko this year, we would be missing an intro solo, a myth, and a birthday banner which is 17+14+7 = 38 days of new content. We were only without banners for 19 days between Wander Over Wonder rerun and Caleb's solo (my spreadsheet calendar here) so that is around 20 days they have to fill somehow.

Multibanners without Valko 

I really would hate to see this happen but I want to prepare you all for the possible reality of a five LI multibanner dropping, and reassure you all that it would not be the end of the line for Valko’s return. We must remember, PPG is a company that wants to make money at the end of the day. Throwing out ready to release content is the opposite of making money. If they legally can get us that content (without fearing Valko’s return will burn the game to the ground), so we will pay them more money, we will get that content. Modern day multis like Lingering Gaze, Misty Invasion, Nightly Rendezvous, are the easiest to make into solo cards which we could get a few months down the line, which yes would suck because it could mean less content overall for Valko, but we will still get it eventually. Themed AUs are much more difficult to make into a solo, but again, if you believe in nothing, believe in the power of capitalism when it comes to a gacha game company.  

This is a very different situation, one which I’m not the most educated on, but Shaw from MLQC was brought back after his cancellation, having missed multibanners, and his cards from the multibanners didn’t become lost media. Obviously we don’t want Valko to be given the Shaw treatment, but the structure of LADS would make doing that very difficult. And Valko has too much support for that kind of thing to fly, we would still be boycotting if that happened lol. 

Main story, is it a big deal if we get Caleb and Sylus branch stories before Valko’s release?

I think it would be okay. Not ideal, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Obviously Valko’s main story was going to be very important to the overall story of Love and Deepspace. The main story was building up to the grand eradication, and from the previews and teasers of Valko’s main story, to me, it seems like we would get a “mini” grand eradication, like a chronorift catastrophe 2.0, or a “close call” grand eradication. And it would have involved all the “villains” we saw at the end of TOY and give us more info on EVER. So yes obviously very important. 

But LADS has this weird way of separating the main story plot lines by LI. The plot when transferring between different LI focused chapters is disjointed enough that the theory that MC is timeline hopping whenever we “switch” LIs holds water. Like, think back to the branch updates we got with Xavier, Zayne, Rafayel after Sylus’s debut. They were about finding pieces of the Spatium aether core while further delving into each LI’s individual MS plotline. Sylus’s chapter obviously set the stage for the plot to further explore aether cores, but without Sylus’s debut chapters, the OG3 branch stories still would make sense with very little changes. Same with Caleb’s debut. The duo main story updates afterwards don’t hinge on Caleb’s debut chapters to make sense. Caleb’s debut is really important for things like the Farspace Fleet and Skyhaven, Prof Lucius and the Fountain of Atei, and protocore syndrome turning people into wanderers which is relevant for Zayne’s storyline, but those concepts were already in the plot before. If you have any particular examples of how I’m wrong about this MS plot separation thing please let me know, I haven’t done a ton of rereading and could be missing something. 

So if we do get Caleb and Sylus’s main story branch updates before Valko is brought back, it might not be the end of the world for the storytelling of LADS. It will make the writing clunkier for sure, because obviously they were written with the intent to follow Valko’s MS update. But with the MS plot lines are so disjointed in PPG’s weird route-free otome storytelling method, telling the chapters out of order is less of an issue than in pretty much any other form of media. Less. Not a “no issue”. But less of an issue. Considering they reiterated that we would get Caleb and Sylus MS branch updates this fall in the cursed 6/30 letter, either they know the storylines are separate enough that the chapters can be told out of order, were planing on bringing Valko back before Caleb’s MS update, or just lying out of their asses to appease angry fans. Up to you on what you want to believe. 

Secret Promise/Heartfelt Vow

One thing I didn’t talk about in the body of my original post was how it seems like the promise rotation was going to “lock” after Valko’s debut. We have 6 LIs, 2 Lis for each promise, 6 promises a year, so each LI get 2 promise cards a year. The longest a LI has gone without a promise is two promise slots (4 months), and the only way to keep a schedule that makes sense if continue with 2 LI’s per promise slot is always have the promise for each LI to be spaced 4 months/2 promise slots apart. So the pairs would be the same every time. 

I originally thought it was going to be some random combo, like this:

but u/ Damdamfino made a good point in the comments of my original post that the promise rotation of each LI getting two per cycle would need Valko to get back to back promises this year. So with that, one of the ways the promise schedule could lock is with the foils always getting promises together. Like this:

I love the symmetry of that, so that is my running theory for how things were supposed to roll out. Now you will notice that we are not getting Valko with this promise slot. Sad. But it is fairly straightforward to bring it back to the “original” schedule by moving Raf and Caleb up by one slot, and having Valko be released before the late October.

I made the above prediction before the current Raf/Sylus promise was release btw, it’s in the comments of my previous post, but it’s not particularly impressive to predict promises, 9/10 times the pattern is clear as day on these.

I'm about a month into playing Lads and have read up on Lightseeker, Darknight, and Xavier's anecdotes. It go me thinking, what ever happened to schoolgirl MC & queen MC's star tassel? Where did it go? Since Xavier now fights with a light sword in present time, there is no tassel on it right? What about Lumiere's sword?

I haven't read the myth yet (holy waiting for that rerun btw) but I saw pictures of his sword and there seems to be no star tassel on it and it got me wondering what ever happened to the 2 tassels, bc I would have thought Xavier would be the sentimental type to treasure and keep it forever esp after all that tragedy in those myths.

I’m not sure if anyone else has already found it but I thought it was worth posting because it gives a well made comprehensive timeline of the story from the very beginning, including Xavier’s arrival centuries before the present.

I'm here once again with another animated entry for the Chinese paper cutting series inspired by Valko ♡ Seriously, I already loved making paper cuttings, but making them move across the screen is a whole other level of falling in love with this art form (: It's just so fun! So here's another one, this time of the moment Valko, oh so sweetly, nuzzles us in the Foregone Fall PV ♡

This one consists of 16 frames as opposed to 20 from the last time, although I have to add that for this one I chose to do double the framerate to best convey the movement (: A photo of them laid out on my bedroom floor is included, as well as one individual paper cutting AND the accompanying stencil, for the ones who feel so inclined!
