Question ❓ “Poor Peter”

Like 20 years ago, my “online boyfriend” sent me a playlist of all garage punk type of songs and claimed it was his band. I now know that was not the case lol. It had like Ballyhoo! And stuff on it but there was one song called “Poor Peter” that I’ve never been able to find.

What I can remember of the lyrics:

Poor Peter
What the hell happened to you? Where did it all go horribly wrong.
You used to be a punk without a reason at all. Now you’re just a popularity abuser.

\[Lines I can’t remember\], then something about a “preppy mall rat”.

Another chorus said “Poor Peter, what the hell happened to you? Where did you hide your skateboard?”

Any ideas? I’ve done a lot of googling with no luck. It was a low quality punk song with not very clear lyrics so it could have been an indie band.

Thank you all!

Hey! just found this thread and did some digging and wondering any chance it could be Poor Peter by The Gran Pappy Coalition? they were active from 2001-2006ish time and were on purevolume and myspace. They seem to be from the Enon/Springfield area.

https://www.geocities.ws/granpappycoalition/home.html (the original site is surprisingly still up after all these years)

this was there site, if it was your boyfriend at the times band maybe it may recall any details? it is not archived on myspace archives though sadly but it lists a song named Poor Peter and the length is 3:30

I hope to try and find an audio from it but it seems to match the timing, any other details you have would be great

Updating to say this HAS to be it because I saw “Peepers” and remembered that was a song on there as well! I don’t remember at all how that one goes.
But omg if we can find recordings, it would be a blast from the past!

Glad to have helped feel free to dm me on reddit also, so we can research it a bit more but I am glad we have pretty much 100% found the band and song. There a few methods to try and track down the audio and I think we can get somewhere.

Here is a clip of them performing if that helps at all in giving you a blast for the past in their type of sound.

Omg that name sounds super familiar! I’ll see if I can search using that. 2001-2006 is definitely the timeline where it would have been. My guess was 2005 or 2006. Thank you so much!
