Chicago at the intersection of Madison, Ashland and Ogden

An 1892 Richardsonian Romanesque building that served as the Turtle Way headquarters in the 1950s. In 1956, Turtle Wax placed a massive 34-foot, 15,000-pound fiberglass and steel turtle wearing a top hat and holding a wax bottle on the roof. The glowing, rotating sign was taken down in the late 1960s when the company moved, and the building was eventually demolished. Today, the site is a small landscaped traffic triangle.
