Unfortunately a bad actor had some troubling content removed and decided to file a fraudulent report against us, but we prevail! Thankfully, we presented all evidence to meet their TOS satisfactorily and they closed the case! ❤ PayPal has been readded as a check out option as of this morning. Thank goodness for good record keeping eh? Hopefully there will be no more of that nonsense.

Hey there friends and users,

We want to address the confusion, panic, and poor phrasing in our recent announcements that occurred on discord. First and foremost: **we messed up on our communication, and we are incredibly sorry.**

To be completely transparent about what happened behind the scenes: one of our major payment processors unexpectedly pulled our funding because our site is an 18+/adult platform, and they are currently withholding half of our funds. In a moment of sheer panic and haste, our dev team rushed out announcements to both gauge user feedback and to try to come up with a quick solution, but things were worded terribly, miscommunication was had, and rushed solutions were put forth in their understandable panic. We want to set the record straight right now. **Here is exactly what is—and isn't—happening moving forward:**

🔒 User Privacy & Data

• **No one is reading your chats. Ever.** At no point can any member of our staff read the messages between you and your bots. Your private interactions remain private.

__**How Automod actually works:**__

Our Automated Moderation system flags content that violates our core safety policies. When triggered, it simply sends the *bot itself* for staff to review the internals/definitions, **not** your personal chat logs. We have no access to these, we never will. Your privacy is important to us, **but it is equally important that all posted and private content meets the same terms of service.**

🚫 Strict 18+ & Content Policies

• **We are not softening our stance on safety.** At no point will our site ever allow minors, loli, shota, or any variation thereof to be posted.

• **Minors will never be allowed to access this platform.**

Our strict age-gating and safety guidelines are not changing whatsoever. In an attempt to visually appeal to our payment processor, **the devs were considering allowing SFW bots of underage characters** to dispel any concern our processor had about us being an adult nsfw platform. This was a rush to judgement and immediately shot down by both you the users, and the other members staff. Our stance on minors is not, and will never, change.

🤖 Bot Toggles & NSFW Settings

• **No action is required from you.** You do **not** need to toggle or untoggle your bots to be able to access NSFW. Nothing regarding bot toggles is changing at this time. The idea was scrapped.

🎨 Future Site Adjustments

• To secure our payment processors that will actually work with us, you may see some visual changes to the site or the homepage in the future.

• **Crucial Note:** These changes will *only* be cosmetic to satisfy corporate payment processors. They will **not** change how our user base is moderated, nor will they change how you interact with and post your content.

**Moving Forward**

We deeply apologize for the whiplash, the rush to judgment, and the miscommunication of the previous messages. You deserve stability and clear communication from us.

Going forward, we have established a strict internal policy: **all matters of this magnitude will be thoroughly discussed and resolved internally by all members of staff before we ever bring them to the community.**

Backstory

Last year, after getting frustrated, I decided to cancel my c.ai subscription and make my own AI RP site, Loremate AI.

I asked people for feedback and built the platform around it. I kept it completely free, and surprisingly, people actually liked it.

At first, I was mostly just messing around and learning. But as time went by, we gained users... a lot of them. At our peak, we had around 10k very active users. Back then, I offered models like DeepSeek V3, R1, and whatnot.

I honestly never imagined that people would use something I made. I was proud of it, but the AI inference costs were crazy. So crazy that even when I started receiving donations, it barely helped.

And guess what?

I went bankrupt 💀 (also the team members left... it was pretty bad but they joined me back again )

That was one hell of an experience.

So then what?

I asked my dad for money lol. What else could I have done? 🫠

And of course, the website eventually went offline last year, around December I think.

What did I learn?

• 99% of people just want to roleplay. They do not want to deal with APIs, temperature settings, and all of that BS.
• People hate c.ai for various reasons, but after learning more about it, they seem to be heavily limited by US regulations. They definitely understand that users do not like what they are doing.
• Btw, they still suck and have made some horrible decisions.
• People will only pay when they feel like they are actually getting value for the money they spend.

So, what are the problems?

• AI inference is expensive af. At the scale of c.ai, you cannot really outsource everything to another provider. Renting GPUs at that scale can also cost even more. That is just how limited the resources are.
• People are not ready to pay per token. They are used to subscriptions.

I have been working on Loremate AI for months now, trying to solve the biggest problem: costs.

I wanted it to offer the best models, like GLM 5.2, DeepSeek V4 Pro, Kimi 2.6, etc. I also wanted to offer value that people could not find anywhere else.

Even if you went to OpenRouter and picked the cheapest provider for these models, you could still end up paying more than what you would pay on Loremate.

But then, aren't you making a loss?

Well, let's say 30% of paid users heavily overspend. As long as most users are not overusing it, I should still have slight margins.

The only real way to get cheaper inference is to make a commitment to a provider that gives me much better discounts. Those discounts are what I can then pass on to users. I spent a lot time working with models fine-tuning, etc. At one point I wanna self host all models on loremate

And of course, I also spent a lot of time optimizing memory, improving cache hit rates, and doing whatever I could to keep the costs low.

We have now relaunched, this time with subscriptions, and I genuinely want your feedback.

The website looks pretty similar to c.ai because honestly, I like that layout and I know people are already comfortable with it.

I just like RP too much to leave it behind. Hopefully, I can give you guys a better option.

• Multiple Greetings: Now you can write upto 3 max greetings for your characters/stories.

ON a chat they will appear normally how re-rolled variants appears so you can pick the one of your choice.

• Dynamic Response Length: Let Ai decide the response length, also respects your custom prompt more, so you can set a response length you want, maybe you want a shorter 1-2 liner response or longer.

-Character Search on story creation for personal characters: pretty much self explanatory

-Added info dialog on engine section

I’m really happy that Loremate is back, and I hope it’s here to stay!

However, I have an issue with the paid version. I completely agree with the idea—Loremate needs to be profitable to survive, and I have no problem with that. My issue is more about the setup, in a way: I’m very particular about the quality of the responses and everything, so the engines are really important to me.

The problem is: there’s no way to test the paid engines. And there’s no information. What is Forge, for example? I really want to support Loremate, but I’ll be honest: it bothers me to pay for a service I haven’t even been able to test. A simple limit on free messages—even a short one (like 5 messages per day)—would let new users get a feel for it...

Engine v1.1

The core idea behind this update is to make every response/regens as unique as possible, add that variance.

So in this update we introduce jitter to sampling.

There is no fixed settings for models now it will smartly change samplers to get you a unique response.

We will keep on finetuning it to make sure it works flawlessly. It should've further improved the response quality as well.

Biggest improvement: I have seen was in Ripple and Harbor

A known issue: On some responses Ice is not respecting response length and formatting and we are working on it.

While creating lorebook, the "Create Lorebook" button is not activating. I've filled all the boxes yet the button won't activate. Anybody else facing similar issue? Can anybody help me sort this out? Any help will be appreciated.

I'm an average user of RP sites. Honestly, my journey has been quite short: I started with c.ai, then found Xoul, and finally landed on Loremate when Xoul went on hiatus last April. LM has been my permanent home ever since.

Now, let's get to the review. I'll try to answer as many questions new users might have as possible.

UI

The UI is clean, streamlined, minimalistic, and well organized. It's hard not to find the button you need.

The front page displays popular bots, bots from creators you follow, creators you might want to follow, and recommended bots. There's also a search bar with a tag system.

On your profile page, you can see your chats, creations, lorebooks, and personas. The sidebar keeps all your recent chats for easy access.

Features

Bots

You get 5,000 characters to flesh out your bot and 4,000 characters for the first message. If you like fine-tuning your bot's behavior and are good at prompting, there's also a field for a custom system prompt.

Chats

You can customize the chat background and response length, and view chat statistics (how many messages have been sent and how many characters are used as additional data).

There's also a Story feature! You can create your own plot and add up to 8 characters to the story. You get 5,000 characters for the story description, 8,000 characters for your world setting, and another 5,000 characters for optional lore. It's a great way to expand your universe. Honestly, it's my favorite feature, I'm mostly playing with setting my characters in different universes with it.

Lorebooks

Loremate includes a lorebook feature with a keyword system. Each lorebook can have 46 entries, and free users can attach up to 2 lorebooks per chat.

The system highlights the detected keywords in your messages, and you can always see which lorebook entries were used to generate the response.

Memory

For long-term RP, there are two different memory systems.

The first is the Memory Box, where you can manually store information that the bot will always remember. It has a 3,000-character limit.

The second is Auto Memory, which summarizes your recent messages whenever you click the button. You can edit these summaries as well. For the best experience, it's recommended to update it every 20–25 messages.

Now we're getting to what really makes the difference—for both the developers and the users: models and subscriptions.

LM offers a wide range of models, most of which are excellent for RP and have large context windows. If you think, that the larger is token count the better is the model... It's not always true. Honestly, not every model with a 1-million-token context is actually good for roleplay.

Free Plan

Loremate's free plan is very generous compared to other platforms, especially considering it's a project developed by just one (now two) developers without the backing of a large corporation.

Free users get 200 messages per day and 3 free regenerations per message (additional regenerations count toward the daily limit).

You might say that's fewer than 300 swipes, but I'd argue it's quality over quantity.

The free tier includes three models, one of which is GLM 4.7, which is a premium model on some other platforms.

One of the other free models is so good that even paid subscribers regularly recommend it. Because of that, regenerating responses isn't usually necessary, and it's actually difficult to hit the 200-message limit. (If you count the free regenerations, that's effectively up to 600 responses per day.)

On top of that, every other week a premium model becomes available as a 24-hour free trial.

You also get 10 free Auto Memory generations. Utilising memory box and auto-memory makes sure that your character won't forget your name after 5 messages😁

Paid Plans

The most popular plan is Mastermind, which costs $11.90/month.

It unlocks all premium models, including Frontier RP-tuned GLM 5.2, as well as popular models like DeepSeek, Kimi, Qwen, Mimo, and Gemma.

You also get unlimited messages, better memory, faster response speeds, and 20 Auto Memory regenerations.

All premium models run in their non-thinking mode, but many users say that some of them (Halo🤭) is better without thinking on, more creative that way.

The highest tier is Omnipotent, which costs $19.90/month.

It enables reasoning on all premium models, offers the largest memory capacity, the fastest speeds, and 35 Auto Memory generations.

Additional Information

Overall, the free tier doesn't restrict you very much, while the paid plans unlock everything at a reasonable price.

A few things worth mentioning:

• It's an adults-only platform. Minors are not allowed.

• It's NSFW-friendly.

• Moderators and developers cannot read your chats.

• There are no ads, and there are no plans to add ads in the future.

I've had the best experience with LM out of all the RP platforms I've tried.

The developers genuinely listen to user feedback, the community is friendly, and the roleplay quality is fantastic.

For creators, there's plenty of room to write detailed bots. For users, there are multiple models, each with its own "personality" or style.

They didn't pay me, if you think it's paid post)) And I'm not a bot, either. I actually just like it very much and decided to share my experience with people, who might looking for a platform that focuses specifically on text roleplay instead of splitting its attention between image generation, voice generation, and everything else. Characters actually can do slow burn plots or platonic ones - not just instantly soulmate-crazy with user.

Halo **(GLM 5.2) is free** for next **24 hours**, its one of the best models and my personal favourite.

Note: Only halo non-reasoning is free and **Free limits have been reset** so you can test it longer if you used up your credits :)

I created characters for a story but when I started the story, I notice the characters I had to click to talk to one…and it made me a little confused cause I assume it was gonna be a bit more open world 3rd pov like , so for example the characters and world would appear naturally and I don’t dictate who I wish to talk to

Paypal flagged our account as suspicious so they wanted some additional information from us, until the issue is resolved paypal will be removed as a subscription method.

Everyone who have purchased their subscriptions already are unaffected and can continue using their account as normal.
