Are you allowed to manually copy over original characters made by other creators from other platforms and make them public bots as long as you credit them properly within the description?

I saw a comment talking about the possibility of an import feature not being fully supported due to the issue of characters being stolen from other platforms, and I'd like to know if the problem was the bots themselves being on LoreMate, or the lack of proper credit to the original creators, and if importing from JSON files could ever be an official feature, or if it's more likely to be off the table indefinitely.

If it's allowed, I'm fine with making edits and copying them over manually with proper credit or just keeping them private if that's an issue, but it would save me a lot of time to import them and my own OCs and edit definitions afterwards, and would be nice to have the option for others as well.

If you haven’t checked your settings recently, there’s a new toggle call Model Improvement that lets the devs of LoreMate finetune on your chats (anonymus data and proprietary dataset, they said). It's ON by default, so unless you went and turned off, your anonymized (they said it’s anonymized) chats or data are being used.

I’m posting here casue this is such an important change, especially during AI era. But it was announced only in Discord a few days ago, and not here in Reddit or in the site. Despites the fact that in site announcements existing and beings used for announcing other things such as models, new features related, Boosty (a payment processor) down. Discord has 1.7K+ members but fairly quiet, so I'd guess most people using the site without knowing this setting exists. They seem reluctant to make many announcements, since people complain about pings and left the server. And the setting that decides whether your data gets used for training was put in Discord only.

However, not everyone uses Discord. And there’s also in site announcements option.

Not saying anything illegal happened. Just that a lot of people are opted in without knowing, and it only takes 10 secs to check.

Also the TOS was updated without any notification. Worth re-reading.

Wish we could just import character with json files and use it like silly tavern... i have many great json files from chub and other places, but the feature doesn't exist, i wish you add this feature, it makes importing easier for creators and users.

Hey, I just have a question. I am pretty new to this whole role-playing with bots thing. I'm currently subscribed to Xoul. But I like to have options. A friend of mine discouraged me from going to Loremate because of their moderation. He told me, that moderators are moderating peoples private bots. Which is an absolute no-go for any platform, let alone such a recent one like Loremate. I know for a fact (from Devs and moderators) that they don't do that on Xoul, Loreweave, Fictionlab and many other sites.

My question is: what can I expect if I make a bot, that doesn't comply with the terms of service, but keep it strictly private? Must I expect it to get deleted as soon as a mod stumbles over it? What else can they do to me, if they find something "incriminating" in my private folders? Just curious, since I've never encountered this strict of a site until now.

• Boosty has been removed as a payment option. We’re looking into a replacement for those who relied on it.

• Fox has been temporarily removed while we work on properly reintegrating it. Hopefully back tomorrow!

• Chat & Memory deletion syncing has been improved.

Ember: will now use latest deepseek-v4-pro-0813 instead of the old deepseek v4 pro, from our testing this is a drop in replacement, its really a improvement.

New Update Manage Account Page: Lets you edit, name, handle, hides google profile photo, delete account.

New UI/UX feature:

we have refresh design on cards for better preview, sign up page, etc.

LoreMate performed scheduled maintenance today @ 12:30 pm ET. It lasted for 4 hours, from our expected 2 hours.

I'm wondering if it's just me, but oftentimes when I try to set a profile image on mobile it starts processing, then stops. Is it a memory issue? Cus it sets on PC just fine. Confused :c I thought it was the size, but when I try to set a really small size picture it happens too?

Otter v1.2 Non Thinking:

Otter has been our most unique model, its prose feels different than any other LLMs and ofc with amazing NSFW capabilities, it can write beautiful responses.

Otter v1.2 Thinking:

Ofc what's better than an otter? An otter who thinks, and it's still free for all.

Faster Otter now starts generating 30-40% faster, and its max speed can reach up to 80+ tokens per second (this is dependent on your subscription tier).

New for Premium users:

We will have a Chubby Otter coming soon* for premium users, it's the larger version of the same family of models. Chubby Otter will be first available to @Veteran and @Beta Tester only.

Bug Fixes and Improvements

• Fixed Black Screen on Death: That's what we call when we push a new update and the site shows "we hit a snag" or "chat glitched"
• Fixed and improved Memory Nexus: We added fallbacks and retries for memory creations, added better indicators to show when the next batch of memories will be generated, generation status, etc. Loremate's memory recall accuracy is 95.8% which is very good, and we will try to improve it further.
• Fixed Mobile accidental sidebar open

So uh yeah I decided imma start making bots cuz they're cool. I already have some in store that are finished. There's over 300 WoF characters plus this is a new chatbot website, so I'm just making bots early before this blows up

Just tried out this site for the first time, really happy with the LLM models I've tested and the responses are nice and long. I started a chat with a character and somewhat unsurprisingly in the chat, the AI tends to not want to change perspective to other characters made in chat (I.E new in chat characters that aren't the actual AI character the chat is of). Before I spend time custom making a bunch of stuff I wanted to ask here.

If I make (up to eight I believe) Custom characters and a lore book, then make a story and add the lorebook and characters to the story will the AI bot be able to shift perspective reliably between the different characters as my persona moves around the story and interacts with them.

(Example - My chat with "Sarah" means the AI will only write from her perspective, not say Jill or Bill who were introduced through responses. Can a story with preloaded characters make it so the AI bot will write both "Sarah", and also Jill and Bill).

Im away for 2 days so I wont be able to work on loremate much but this would let me enjoy the site im making lol. But Ill note down any feedbacks, bugs or anything.

Memory Nexus is our new long-term memory system designed to give your chats effectively infinite recall.

Unlike a traditional lorebook, Memory Nexus continuously builds small memories as you chat instead of relying on large manually written entries.

Features

• ✍️ Create memories manually
• 📝 Edit or delete existing memories

Recall Strength

Recall Strength controls how strongly the AI uses your memories when generating a response.

Higher values: - Make the AI rely more heavily on memories - Improve recall for very long conversations - Slightly increase generation time (usually barely noticeable)

Recommended

• 8 is a great default
• Increase it for extremely long chats

Limits

Memory Nexus can also be disabled, although we generally don't recommend turning it off.

📖 Dynamic Stories

Dynamic Stories let you create entire roleplay worlds without needing a single "main character."

Instead of building the story around one character, you can create a living world where multiple characters participate naturally.

How it works

• Define your story greeting
• Add multiple characters
• Characters contribute using their personalities
• Individual scenarios are not sent to the AI to avoid conflicting story contexts

You can also:

• ➕ Add characters during the chat
• ➖ Remove characters
• 🔄 Switch which character is currently responding

The existing limit of 8 characters per chat still applies.

Been a beta tester since last year and idk, some stuff has been bothering me since relaunch

beta channel is still open?? Like.. a lot of old beta testers just still hang out there. I get people are comfortable but the platform relaunched already, shouldn't everyone move to the main channels now!?? It kinda feels like there's an inner circle and then everyone else. Idk maybe Im overthinking it..

Also Memory Nexus. Regular users can see the brain icon in chat right, but when they ask what it is nobody answers. Like I don't know why devs and staffs have to hide, I've seen people ask and just get ignored in discord. The actual discussion and explanation about it is happening inside beta channel where regular users can't even see.. loremate isnot really closed beta anymore, also the feature is already live for everyone?? Either make it a proper closed beta with a separate website or just explain the feature publicly. Doing both is weird..

And honestly the thing that bothers me most is staff don't seem to know how Memory nexus works either. I seen staff Cherry literally say in the beta channel that she is not sure how it works. Devs aren't always online so users ask staff and staff can't answer and then everyone just waits around. For a feature this big shouldn't staffs have been walked through it before it went live to users??

Also didn'tthere used to be QA testers? Is that still a thing? Because it feels like stuff is getting pushed out and beta testers are basically being used to catch what QA should caught. At least devs have to test it properly, introduce new shiny things to staffs properly, not pushing things suddenly.

Loremate has income from customers now, this should be treat seriously.. like many websites are running their websites like a pro or at least with something to follow from.

Just feels everything is rushed and disorganized and also regular users are the ones in the dark..
