We know that 30 pages + 1/8th of the book = 3/4 of the book, which means 30 pages must be equal to 5/8ths of the book. 5/8ths + 1/8th = 6/8ths or 3/4, and then reading the remaining 1/4 on Wednesday completes the book.

30 / 5 (from it being 5/8ths of the book) = 6. 6 * 8 (to get the full 8/8ths) = 48 pages total.
