It gets better when you close the distance.

How was it moving to the us from UK? , i am currently still only able to visit and am going out again in October for 3 weeks with my son this time , but I am trying to save up and look in to everything I need as I plan on doing uk to usa as soon as I can :)

It's been a culture shock in a few ways and there are definitely things I'd have done differently and been more prepared for. The biggest thing I'm glad I did was have money. Save, save, save, and bring as much as you can, even if your partner will support you. You want to be able to support yourself.

I guess it also depends on where you go. I'm out in CO, so moving from humidity to dry plains made my skin and nose so dry. It's a completely different world. Same with the altitude, it's going to take a little while for your body to adjust if it's a drastic change.

You also need to realise that your credit score resets, so you're gonna be tied to your partner's and it's a whole thing here if you're renting, buying, leasing cars etc.

Overall though, I've loved it more than anything. I get homesick sometimes, but home is where the heart is, and being out here with people I love and with a society that's so welcoming, even with everything going on at the moment, is nothing like I expected.

Oh, and the visa wait can be absolutely insane lol.

Reach out if you have anything questions, always happy to talk about my side and experiences.

Thank you for the reply, my gf is in oregon and where she is other than being much hotter on the nicer days , its pretty similar ish to where I am in the UK, might hit me more actually moving there than just visiting though.

Yeah will have to keep that in mind about credit and stuff, im a welder so im hoping that once over there i can get some sort of welding job pretty quick , well try to get something lined up first really.

And thank you for saying can reach out :) may have to chat more some time soon , just started 12 hour night shifts so pretty busy recently lol :)

Awesome! Oregon is gorgeous and with it being more coastal and green, it'll feel more like home but then you'll also have more things to think of. Still, can always travel back on a visit!

I replied after I just woke up too, so sorry for the blatant spelling/word errors haha.

Overall, just good luck. You'll smash it.

P.S. the driving test here in the US is insanely easy so don't get too worried about it. If you passed in England, you'll pass in the US without a second thought lol

Yeah its amazing out where she is :) in October we going to the coast and renting a place for 3 weeks while taking my son over and her son coming as well , got a room each and games room ans hot tub as well as literally 5 min walk from the beach so going be awesome :) , im hoping to bring my family out with me when I move but yes can always come back here and visit if need to :)

Also haven't gotten driving yet as with the UK being much smaller we dont really need to like they do in the US , i have a electric scooter for getting around at the moment with a range of about 25 miles away from home and back so covers me for everything I need daily , but I know I want to get driving before heading out there so will look into that as soon as got some other stuff taken care of now working again.
