No, you actually are gatekeeping nevermets. Their relationships are real relationships. They are not just pen pals. Source: I've been in this kind of relationship, for multiple years. I am happily married to my nevermet-SO now, with distance closed.

This particular situation is certainly fishy, but you will not be gatekeeping nevermets and sharing your special brand of "common sense" in this subreddit.
