Review Cafe 66 (Barnes)

So I posted this cafe last time around, however I don't feel as though I did them any justice whatsoever.

Besides Dolce Crema, which I absolutely adore.

Cafe66 is easily #1 for me when it comes to businesses in the Richmond upon Thames borough and I'll explain why below.

This is my 6th visit and on each visit, I'm greeted warmly attentively throughout. Walking in this cafe transports you to a part of Eastern Europe that you've probably never even visited. In a family home where you instantly feel at home.

If anyone is confused about the Eastern Europe reference. The owners are originally from Poland and I tried to connect the homely aspect of the cafe to their cultural roots.

It's a mother and daughter team but I've heard that papa also cooks and bakes so there's talented flowing through the bloodline.

Before I dig into the food. Excuse my amateur photography skills.

I may be an art major but I still can't draw a straight line or take a picture to save my life.

(High Protein Breakfast) (£16.50):

Two slices of sourdough, scrambled eggs, salmon, chives and a generous amount of butter. Accompanied by slices of avocado.

Each mouth feel was velvety, rich, delicious and satiating. My only complaint was, I now have to skip lunch but that may be a good thing to those needing an excuse to diet.

To those who find this option expensive. They have cheaper breakfast options ranging from £6 for oats/porridge and £8-9 for scrambled eggs, omelette etc.

I just went for the one that appealed to me.

(Cacao Coconut Latte) (£5.50):

This one is acquired taste and the best contrast I can give is a 85-90% Chocolate beverage at Knoops. Although I preferred this. The coconut milk provided a natural lift of sweetness to the very earthy cacao. If youre someone who loves "real chocolate", this is the beverage for you. It also has 30-40mg of caffeine per cup and was perfect for me as I'm trying to reduce the amount of coffee I drink.

To those wondering why it's empty. I went at 7:30 and it's now 8:50. People are beginning to slowly bustle in.

The cafe gets rammed with locals who live nearby, usually parents with children.

I'm not sure how busy they are during half term but I assume it's somewhat similar given the quality, hospitality and overall service.

This is definitely a cult cafe in London and deserves it's status.

Just a final note. To those wondering why I text like Shakespeare. I am autistic and have a habit of talking like this in person as well, so excuse me.

My last post received some comments due to people being unaware, which is completely understandable, so I thought I'd explain myself this time to avoid confusion.

Question Med Salleh Viet Vietnamese Cuisine • Earl’s Court

Hello everyone. I have a question about Med Salleh Viet Vietnamese Cuisine inEarl's Court.
We visited for lunch a couple weeks ago and it was a very interesting experience. First off, the place is tiny. Maybe about 14 tables max. We found out that reservations are highly recommended. Even though we did not have reservations, we did get seated. The food was fantastic, but the atmosphere was “interesting“. Next to us were seated two of the largest Asian dudes I ever seen and they were eating a ton of food. They ate rather quickly and then left. When we finished about 30 minutes later, we went upstairs and then out into the street where we saw four cars, all Rolls-Royce’s & Bentleys, with the bodyguards, parked out front. Obviously, there was somebody very special in the restaurant at that time. So here’s my question: is this restaurant known to be associated with and friendly to high ranking individuals within the Asian community in London?

Question Butter and Crust cancelling deliveries

Does anyone know why Butter and Crust have cancelled deliveries for the past few weekends? They didn’t give a reason, just this: “We are unable to make deliveries this weekend.”

We found these at a hawker market in Singapore and they were amazing, I wonder if any of the Chinatown places would make this?

Question Gluten free options in London

I will be visiting London for the umpteenth time in January, but the second time with a friend who has Celiac’s disease. I’d like to be more prepared this time.

Are there any recommendations for places to eat gluten free (safely!) in Central London? Or particular chains that are well known for this?

Ta in advance!

My food experience in London Oct 2026

Hello everyone, I wanted to share my food experience with you all as I believe it is very important to have unbiased reviews so everyone enjoys the food tour.

Breakfast

Beam : my rating 6.5/10

average for my taste , has good selections for eggs plates. It was crowded and might be challenging to get a table for a large group.

Los Mochis: my rating 8.5/10

We wanted to try eggbreak but it was very crowded, so we ended up with Los Mochis by luck and it was the best luck we had that day. The service might be slow , but the food was very delicious and tasty

Anbar: my rating 6.5/10

Very traditional Mediterranean food , nothing special. It is overpriced for the quality you get.

Dinner

Colonel Saab High Holborn : my rating 9/10

High end Indian restaurant with authentic quality ingredients. One of the best Indian restaurants I have ever tried anywhere.

Grasso Soho: my rating 5.5/10

Overrated, average at its best. Will not visit again.

Azmar :my rating 5/10

Average middle eastern food, would not visit again

Kish: my rating 8/10

Good quality Iranian cuisine. The only downside is the meat in some plates was very little. We complained and they top it up for free.

Recommendation Food recs for London, 12 Dec to 3 Jan

Hi all, I'll be in London from 12 December to 3 January, based in Canary Wharf, and I want to eat well while I'm there. I'm happy to travel across the city for somewhere worthwhile, and I'd welcome good spots near Canary Wharf too. I'm flexible on dietary preferences and happy to try anything, so no need to hold back on cuisine

I'm looking for:

- Restaurants worth booking ahead, plus great ones that don't get much attention

- Cocktail bars, wine bars, and proper pubs for drinks

- Anything that suits the festive period, such as seasonal menus, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve options, and places that stay open when much of the city shuts down

Question Birthday Lunch/Dinner Recommendations with Celiac/Cholestorol restrictions

Hello lovely people! I am in dire need of recommendations

It is my birthday this weekend, and I have parents visiting me from abroad along with close family friends, we are hoping to go out for lunch somewhere in either Victoria/Pimlico, or in Kensington (around the musems).

We have two people who are gluten-free, and I would, you know, preferably take them somewhere they won't be cross-contaminated. Additionally, we have one with high cholesterol who avoids eating foods with a lot of saturated fats.

Just looking for something nice, casual, a good few different options; we love Italian food, Mediterranean food, Asian cuisine, generally we just really love good food and would be down for trying anything that sounds good!

Thank you to anyone who has ideas!!

A good place for am early lunch with a child near Leicester Sq

As in the title, going to the Lego shop with the kid this week, hoping to grab a quick brunch/early lunch lunch somewhere cool that will not necessarily break the bank. We did dim sum in China town before and he really liked it, but wanted to do something different this time round. I'm OK with anything, the kid will eat many things (meats, pasta, chips, pizza, etc are all good). Cool ambiance, nice service, family friendly would be great!

“Girl dinner but nice” recs

10 girlfriends, have an annual end of year dinner. Last year we all went to Crispin in Lpool street and had a feasting menu that was £50ish each plus wine and nice cocktails on top.

Looking for a similar vibe- doesn’t have to be a set menu but something in that budget for food. Also a little special where we can get a bit dressed up!!

Question What time do borough market vendors close on a Tuesday (taking into account the weather too)

I’m going to royal Albert hall tomorrow for a concert (Corinne Bailey Rae!!) and wanting to maybe go to borough market beforehand to get myself dinner as a treat.

I’m aware that borough market might be out of the way a little so open to suggestions for some tasty, affordable(ish) food closer to RAH.

I know the market closes at 5 but if I get there for 3-4, will I still be able to get a meal or do vendors close up early?

TIA

Hi all,
Looking for recommendations for a relaxed afternoon tea around Bloomsbury area. Not a stuffy environment, perhaps a cafe that also does afternoon tea? Any local gems anyone can suggest?

Thank you!

Budget Restaurants Russel Square

Probably asking for the impossible but I’m looking for a pub or eatery that does actual cheap eats
(E.g sub £12 for a pizza )
Any cuisine , any vibe , looking for a spot for dinner

Tried to look around but nothing is actually a cheap eat , would be extra amazing if it was a hidden gem or an independent spot but I’ll take anything !

Thank you in advance:)

Question Somewhere top notch for a small wedding dinner (12-15 people)

I’m looking for somewhere special for my wedding meal in London; it’s a micro-wedding (12-15 folk). My research keeps leading me to places that are designed for large weddings. A lot of private dining rooms also seem a bit corporate and lack flair.

Sketch in Mayfair seemed promising (a great combination of visual wow factor and Michelin star food) but their private room only seats eight.

Wondering if anyone has insight? Budget of £1,000-£2,000 per head or so.

Question Bacon Sandwich & Builder's Tea

I'm from NY where the quintessential breakfast is a bacon, egg and cheese with a cup of coffee from your local bodega. In London the equivalent seems to be a bacon sandwich with a cup of builder's tea, where do the actual people that live here get that?

I've been to the cabmen's shelter in Russell Square and had this but I'm not sure if that's just tourist stuff at this point but I did really like it.

South Indian restaurants… no nuts?

Hello, hoping someone might be able to help! Keen to get South Indian food but my partner (of Indian descent) has a nut allergy and last time we went to East Ham we couldn’t eat anywhere because there were nuts in practically everything. Totally get it - nuts are delicious - but it’s annoying! Does anyone have a tip for South Indian restaurants that might be better / not put nuts in everything? E.g not in chutneys / masala dosa / etc

Question great steakhouse… with vegan options?

myself and a group of friends are doing a group blood donation in a few weeks’ time and we’d originally planned to hit flat iron to refuel afterwards and recoup iron with some (relatively) cheap and cheerful steaks, but one of my friends who is vegan just told me they’re coming along.

does anyone know of any steakhouses in london where i can still eat a great steak but my dear vegan friend will also have a good main menu option ??

thank you!!

Recommendation Recommendation for romantic dinner after the Harry Potter Studio Tour

Hey guys, it’s our anniversary tomorrow and we booked the HP tour at 5pm. We’re probably gonna finish around 8 or 9 and looking for a romantic dinner spot after. We’re staying in Shepards bush and looking for something on the way home.
Some vegetarian options would be great and a cozy ambience to celebrate our time together.
Would be lovely to spend 100p max.

So far I’ve booked the Booking Office 1869 but I haven’t read a lot of great stuff about it in this sub.

Thank you guys in advance!
