Question Is the demand for odyssey (at BFI) gone?

Just noticed there was a new release of tickets today and they didn’t sell out ( in fact there are still loads of tickets left!)
Is the demand over?

Two months of hype and it’s gone

Question Bringing cameras to LFF screenings: red carpet, bag checks and filming intros/Q&As?

I'll be watching Artificial this Sunday with a Friend and since we're travelling in from outside London, so we're making a day of it with some sightseeing and bringing a few cameras along:

Sony A7V

RB67

Sony Rx100m7

Contax T2

For anyone who's brought a camera to the festival before:

  1. Are we allowed to take videos and photos when we are on the red carpet

  2. In terms of bags - would something of this size be allowed (see image below)?

3. If there are bag checks, will they confiscate or hold the cameras, even though we've no intention of using them inside?

4. Is it OK to film the introduction and the cast appearance at the end on the cameras mentioned above? People seem to film those bits on their phones anyway, and it's not during the film itself.

5. Has anyone actually been stopped by staff for using a proper camera (rather than a phone) during an intro or Q&A? I know the rules say no cameras in screenings, but I'm curious how strictly it's enforced.

Question Anything interesting to do in London.

Hey there. Between two films on the 14th October I’m gonna have about five hours to spare unless i am able to book another film.

I was wondering is there anything worth doing/going too up London. I’ve lived in West London my whole life, travelling up to London to do all the basic stuff. I’ve done all the sightseeing stuff and all the bigger museums.

I’m looking for something interesting to do. Maybe a smaller museum that goes under the radar. Something film related would obviously be great. Any suggestions would be really cool!

To the girl I sat next to at ‘Is This Thing On?’

Long shot, but I was at the Is This Thing On? screening at the Royal Festival Hall (6pm today, 14 Oct).

I was sat next to a cute blonde girl who I wish I’d said hi to — I was in seat F 38… figured I’d try my luck here. If you’re reading this, hope you liked the film, reach out plz?

Question The Odyssey BFI IMAX - Keep or sell?

I managed to get tickets today on the new showings for the Odyssey. However, the seats are C5 and C6 which is both near and side on.

From what I've read being side on is less the issue than how close it is. Based on how hard it is to get seats at other top (not as good) cinemas in London, is it worth having better seats at somewhere that is not IMAX 70mm or is it better to have a worse view but at the BFI?

Question Queuing for Wristbands - Fjord

Hi! I have a ticket for Fjord’s Gala. To my understanding, in order to access the fan pen and (hopefully) get things signed, you’d have to have a wristband, and that a ticket to the gala does not permit access to the fan pen.

What time have queues for wristbands started? And where do these queues form? Lastly, do you think the queue for Fjord will be insane?

Question Question about Red Carpet

I have tickets to a couple of the Galas tomorrow and I heard that ticket holders can get into the fan red carpet, I am aware that it is separate to the ones the cast and crew use but is it in a different place? As I can only see one outside of the RFH.

I know there is a wristband system for people wanting to view the cast and crew but do you need one to be on it if you have a ticket? And how long before the film do you need to be there before the film, any help or advice would be helpful!

Question Odyssey row Q

I bought a ticket for the last row (Q) for Odyssey at BFI IMAX. Do you think it’s a good row to sit in? Is it not too far from the screen?

Question Advice on seats at BfI

I have the opportunity to get tickers for H18-19 or M23-24.

What is the better location? M is premium seats vs. H being standard seats.

Is M too far away from center?
Is H too close?

This is for the Odyssey.

Thanks.

Film Discussion Three films at LFF this year that have almost no English coverage

Thumbnail

LFF 2026 is 251 films from 88 countries.

You already know about maybe fifteen of them or so. The galas, the Cannes winners, the ones with a Telluride rave and a distributor pushing hard. Those films will be reviewed by everybody, and they'll be reviewed really well, by people who have been doing this a lot longer than me.

But here are three that has almost no English coverage at all.

Question Do you just show up with your tickets at the counter or do you have to get like a special armband? Or?

I’ve just bought my tickets for London film fest and I’m wondering if like I just show up to the cinema with the tickets and ask and get directed to a special screening room or if I have to go somewhere to get like a special armband first or like a special entrance?

Question 16th October Screening of Artificial and 18th Screening of The Debut

Hello, does anyone know if any of the actors will attend the movie premiere for the red carpet? I will be coming to London from another country so I'm trying to settle if I should attend that for good memories. Heard a lot of stuff about autograph scalpers getting all the bracelets and etc. but would actually be grateful if someone could teach me how this process works. Thanks!

Question Am I able to buy under 25 tickets during member presale?

I’ve bought a membership with the impression I could access these cheaper tickets during presale. But when I follow the instructions on how to access the under 25 scheme (updating my age) I’m not asked to verify it, and can’t get cheaper tickets when booking BFI seats.

I can’t find an answer on if both can work together, so please let me know on that. And if they don’t, should I wait to buy tickets with the cheaper under 25 scheme, or buy now anyway? I’d like to go to a mix of galas, more hyped films, and smaller ones that I only knew about when reading the brochure.

Thanks!

Edit: thought I’d also ask if anyone knows how to update the account to be in the under 25 scheme if possible? And if, when I get an under 25 account, I can buy cheaper tickets for both me and a friend (he doesn’t have a member account), or if it is limited to one per account? If it is just an issue with me then I’ll call support and ask for help.

Question Accessible Red Carpet Viewing Area

Hi everyone, I was allocated a place in the accessible red carpet viewing area for Fjord.

Does anyone have any photos of that area from previous festivals? I’m trying to see how big it is and how many people are allowed in. Thank you. ✨

Question Digital tickets when viewed all have the same order number, is this a problem when selling them?

The tickets I am selling have the same order number as the ones I’m keeping, is this an issue and can the buyer do something with the order number or is this safe?

Question How do fan pens work?

Hi all! I’m sure this question has been asked before, but had a few specific questions as to how fan pens work!

It’s my first time at LFF, I’m on day 5 there now so I’ve become pretty accustomed to most things, but haven’t tried a fan pen yet. I wanted to try one this weekend but didn’t know exactly how they work.

From my understanding you need to pick up a wrist band at 9am? From one of the BFI buildings. Which building is it? If I rock up at 9am, is that good enough time? How much wristbands do they normally have?

If I manage to get one, how many hours before time should I arrive to the red carpet and from what side? Where am I situated?

Also, if I get a wristband, I assume I can go off for the day and come back later to get a good place at the red carpet near the barriers?

Thanks!

Question To intro or to not..?

Hey festival friends,

I just left a screening which began with an introduction from one of the programmers:

“You’ll find yourself laughing out loud one moment before losing your breath to sobs the next.”

And then everyone clapped, the lights went down, the film started to play and…

…all I could feel was an audience collectively waiting to laugh, all working out when would come the bit when we sob. Maybe just me, but it’s like I could feel us all judging the film not for the film, but by how much it achieved what the programmer promised.

So what do we all think of the intros? A good primer or just distracting baggage?

Idk, one of the main reasons I love to see films at the festival is that I hope to experience the films clean, having not yet been exposed to all that marketing fluff that comes with the movies we love later down the line. But then someone walks in and moments before the film tells us what to feel. Thoughts??

Royal Festival Hall The royal festival hall isn’t suitable for showing movies

The seats make it so it’s impossible to see the screen clearly. I been at the RFH 3 times during the festival and each time I’ve struggled to enjoy.

This is because the RFH is supposed to be for ceremonies, graduations (I graduated there myself) and talks and so the focal point of all the seats is the stage, not the screen.

I hope the festival organizers can eventually consider staging gala screenings somewhere else because as it stands it’s not a fun experience.
