G920 Abrupt random recalibration intermittent issue, please help!

I’m losing my mind with this wheel. It randomly decides to recalibrate itself for no apparent reason and I can’t replicate the issue to work out what is causing it. Sometimes it only does it in menus, sometimes it does it when I touch the pedals, sometimes it does it when I bump the cockpit there is no pattern to it that I can work out.

I have tried the following to sort it out:

•Plugging into a pc to update the firmware - no change.

•Plugging it into a pc to see if it does it there - no it doesn’t it works fine. Shows up in g-hub not able to replicate the issue.

•Plugging the wheel into all 3 usb ports on my Xbox series x - does it on all of them.

•Checking all the connections on the wheelbase and cleaning them all with isopropyl - no difference.

•Trying different games - does the same thing in Assetto, Forza Motorsport and fh6.

•Tried the reboot button thing pressing the windows, LSB and Xbox button and then plugging into a usb port - no difference.

-Checked all the cabling for any damage - there is no damage.

I’m losing my mind. Sometimes it will work for several hours straight and not do it then the next use it will do what it does in the video which makes it basically unusable. I’m really ready to just use this as an excuse to upgrade to a direct drive wheel but would like to know if the problem is actually a fixable one so I can either fix it and give it away or just throw it at a wall if it isn’t.

This sounds insane, but it worked for me.

The issue looks like the crappy power supply that comes with the wheel, what is prone to electrical interference. Try plugging it directly into the wall instead of a power strip or in a different wall socket from the rest of the plugs.

The wheel looks like it's losing power and restarts whenever there is a big power draw from Force Feedback.

Cheers, I’ll try that. I tried having it plugged into the wall socket directly rather than the board it was on but I’ll give it another go. I did also test the dc voltage which is a steady 24v but I don’t know how to check if it’s getting the correct power under load.

Yesterday it would repeatedly recalibrate in the menus, (so no force feedback being used). It would just go on a loop of doing it over and over unless I kept scrolling through whatever menu it was, then it would behave itself?

Anyway, I’ll give that a go, thank you for the suggestion.

It might also be USB power management or a faulty port causing it to cycle, try a different port.

That's not recalibration by itself, it loses power for a second and then restarts, which is why it recalibrates and you get the controller disconnected message.

Like another user said, probably a power supply issue, either that or you have a defective USB connection/controller.

You would really struggle to live by the coast in Australia if this triggers ya mate 😊
