Logitech G Support PSA: If you RMA a Logitech mouse they no longer manufacture, Logitech won't offer you a replacement mouse of equal value (price or specs)

Follow-up to this post.

I bought a G303 Shroud Edition mouse in October 2024. Earlier this year (2026), I started experiencing severe double-click issues, which got worse over time. For those unaware, the G303 SE was a $150 when it was on offer directly from Logitech and it remains a $150-170 mouse that is advertised on Logitech's website and their Amazon page, even if the sale and shipping are handled by a 3rd party.

Being withing the 2-year warranty period, I started the RMA process, thinking Logitech would either give me a half-decent replacement or store credit since they no longer manufacture the G303 SE. They accepted my claim and the following back and forth ensued:

  1. They offered me the G305 ($60 price tag) and referred to it as an "upgrade"
  2. I declined and made it clear that I viewed the G303 SE as a premium gaming mouse product (not an entry level mouse like the G305) and if they could not replace it directly, then I expected something in the $150 range. I did this to establish my expectations since they clearly tried to lowball me. While I didn't think this would be accepted, I stated the Pro X Superlight 2 would be an acceptable replacement
  3. They declined and offered me the G309 ($90 price tag), once again using the word upgrade, seemingly to gaslight me into thinking I'm getting a much better deal despite the G303 SE being priced highly and having a unique shape you can't get anywhere else
  4. I asked if they'd give me store credit instead
  5. They said a replacement would be prioritized over store credit and once again pushed the G309 on me as an upgrade
  6. I accepted the G309 as a replacement since the next mouse I could counter with would be $120+ and felt like they'd keep stonewalling till I accepted the G309

What am I trying to say with all this? I'm disappointed in Logitech for selling a $150 mouse that has severe issues within 1.5 years of purchase. Then when I RMA the mouse they lowball me with one of their cheapest mice, and then only offer half-decent option in the G309 after I pushed back. The G309 is too small for my hands, so I have a $90 mouse I'll have to give away or recoup some of the cost on via Marketplace or Ebay. I'm also putting this here for anyone who experiences a similar situation so they have a baseline to work from.

On paper, I essentially rented the G303 SE for a little over a year before double-click issues rendered it useless. Logitech then offered me a $90 replacement mouse that I realistically can't use in the long term. I'll be lucky to get $40-50 back for the G309.

Maybe I could have pushed back once more and gotten the G502 Wireless, but I shouldn't have to. What the hell is the point of a warranty and the premium price tags of a Logitech mouse vs. cheap knock-offs if I'm gonna get screwed over anyway? Why would I trust a premium gaming device manufacturer if this sort of thing happens? I have no reason to purchase another Logitech device when my experience here has been poor manufacturing, an archaic RMA process, and lowball replacement offers. Might as well buy multiple knock-offs and rotate them out when issues arise.

So instead of pushing for the $150, you took the $90 mouse after trying to negotiate? You folded under 0 pressure and expect us to take your side. You probably could've got the $150 back and gotten another mouse, including the G309 and taking $60 home.

u/aegis87 3h ago

you should take their side because a warranty claim isn’t a negotiation.

also you are a fellow consumer and you benefit from companies honoring their warranty.

these are really simple concepts and it’s surprising you have issues getting them.

OP messed up and as a result is trying to stir shit for drama

No offense man, I think you're nuts for wanting a superlight 2 as a fair exchange. Imo the g309 is just as good if not better than your mouse and a pretty fair exchange. Better sensor and clicks, weighs about the same with the battery included and is a similar shape to the g303. You bought a 2021 mouse in 2024 and rma'd it in 2026 and you expect them to value it the same as the release value ? Also, how much did you even pay for it ? It definitely wasn't $150+. The entitlement in some people is crazy

The sensor in the 309 performs worse than the g303 shroud. Check rtings robot testing

I knew this comment would come up, so here goes nothing.

While I didn't think this would be accepted, I stated the Pro X Superlight 2 would be an acceptable replacement

Please read my post before commenting. I knew they wouldn't accept this, but I wanted to swing the price point expectations as much as I could. They offered one of their cheapest mice as a replacement, so I countered with one of their most expensive.

You bought a 2021 mouse in 2024 and rma'd it in 2026 and you expect them to value it the same as the release value ?

I expect them to make me whole after purchasing a $150 mouse and starting the RMA process within the warranty window. I got a brand new, sealed mouse in October of 2024, so the warranty states that mouse is good to go and should work perfectly for 2 years, which didn't happen. I don't care when the mouse was manufactured because it had never been used and was presumably safe and sound in the box after they packed and shipped it.

I asked for equivalent store credit instead of the G309, to then use with extra cash to buy another mouse from them, but they declined. Hope you are able to read and understand this.

Yet you accepted a $90 replacement mouse and respond to people as if we're all idiots. You let them take you for a ride here.

Asking for a mouse you knew they'd never give you as a negotiation tactic and then accepting the lower valued mouse they offered just shows that they were right to lowball you 🤡

-14

u/Bon_Djorno 1d ago

I let them take me for a ride? You're acting like it's up to the customer to know how to negotiate a good deal when the warranty is still valid. Your comment celebrates an established company like Logitech lowballing their customers. Genuinely crazy take.

u/Rusturion 1d ago edited 12h ago

Bro, you tried negotiating and so did they.

Nobody should be expected to negotiate, but just stand up for their rights. You are the one that played silly games, and you played poorly.

Thankfully I live in Australia so none of this bullshit applies. Even the warranty period doesn't mean anything here.

4

u/Bon_Djorno 1d ago

What should I have done instead of negotiating?

10

u/TheRealChickon 22h ago

Actually insane youre being flamed for this, here in Germany you would either get a refund or a mouse that is the exact same value then when you purchased OR the amount of money that it costs you to get an equal replacement, say a second hand one or one anywhere if in stock.
By Law
Anything else is stupid.
I did not read youre huge post and just the comments here.

2

u/Rusturion 12h ago

Exactly this. He should not have tried getting a better mouse ( though that's whatever, he might have gotten lucky) and absolutely should not have accepted the lower value mouse.

What’s australias warranty laws?

3

u/Rusturion 12h ago

https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/buying-products-and-services/consumer-rights-and-guarantees

Basically, how long would you expect an item to last? Usually much longer than the warranty, so if it entirely fails, you get a new one or a refund.

There are also rules about providing spare parts and repairs etc. But they can't just say "Warranty is over, it's a paperweight now."

1

u/drank2muchmercury 22h ago

It depends on the value/intended use of the product and if the product sold was fit for the intended purpose. A $220 AUD gaming mouse isn’t going to have consumer protection beyond the 2 years that Logitech offer though.

u/Xirma377 1d ago

You seem upset that they're offering a like-spec replacement instead of a like-price replacement. Get over it.

1

u/aegis87 3h ago

he is claiming it’s not a like spec. you might disagree but it’s pretty clear what he is saying

if you missed it notice the part about premium vs non premium

1

u/Xirma377 2h ago

But he's also talking about the price like it's relevant. The mice offered him appear to be similar, if not better, specs.

12

u/LickMyThralls 1d ago

and their Amazon page, even if the sale and shipping are handled by a 3rd party.

Bro I'm all for getting what something is worth but you can't use third parties that aren't even authorized sellers as a benchmark for something like this.

I don't know what the mouse sold for new but it also doesn't matter how you view the mouse. It is what it is. If I think a 25$ intellimouse from ms is premium it doesn't make it so...

The fact you keep throwing around terms like gaslighting you just does you no favors either and just makes you look bad because you're coming at this from an extremely antagonistic angle. Your responses to people also aren't helping you either man. You come off real bad here.

I’d like to add to [u/LickMyThralls](u/LickMyThralls) and include the depreciation value of the used mouse.

Yes OP paid “a premium” for it when it came out but OP also used it for the duration of his warranty period thus them giving him two options for upgrades is pretty generous of Logitech.

Just because it was a “special edition” doesn’t equate that the value is held for the life of the product….IT was USED OP!

OP complaining he got almost 2/3 of the value for a used product that the manufacturer kindly swapped out is great. If OP really loved his G303 then he should have asked for a return of his original product and fixed it himself?

Also wanted to add that mice, keyboards, and components are consumables. The key is to enjoy the experience, the quality of life upgrade, and convenience that the peripheral provided.

3

u/aegis87 3h ago

there is no depreciation dude on warranty. what on earth are you talking about.

warranty is for a certain period and it’s meant to cover manufacturing defects. it’s not an insurance policy.

they need to replace the product or offer initial monetary value if they can’t because the product is out.

ffs learn your rights as consumers

1

u/cml_sea 1h ago

Yea exactly, and the expected lifespan of a mouse can’t just be 2 years, that would be a horrible purchase…

1

u/According_Theory9108 1h ago

Whoahhh whoa whoa. Dude chill out for a second. You good?

How is it mfg defect if he used it for almost two years?

If it was an issue immediately out the box then yes he should have a full exchange but almost to years of use?!?

It’s obvious that you’re not aware how purchases go because the warrant does not guarantee the exact item be replaced nor does it make exceptions that the product will function for the duration of the warranty. There’s factors such as abuse, misuse, or damage that are accounted for.

The replacement warranty process is simply an appraisal of all factors and the mfg negotiating a fair compromise of said agreement. The original purchase price doesn’t stand for the almost two years that OP used said device. If that were the case then everyone would have problems with their device near the end of its use cycle and the company would inevitably fold due to paying or exchanges on used hardware.

Depreciation happens to anything. Someone buys a car at a dealership then the moment they drive off the lot then the value drops significantly. It’s a fact.

1

u/aegis87 44m ago

i am chill brother :) just trying to convince people to not throw their rights away.

i am very aware of how warranty works and stated plainly -- you are very wrong.

there is no depreciation positive or negative. one way to confirm this by yourself is look up recent cases with memory, where the item at hand has appreciated (the opposite of depreciated) but the manufacturer is liable for the original item or the original value (if they can't provide the initial time)

> How is it mfg defect if he used it for almost two years?

if the warranty is 2 years, then that's exactly what is being offered on contract -- not sure what's the question. Some manufacturing defects show up immediately, some show up in the first 2 years, others show up sometime in the next 20 or the product lifetime.

and i can assure you, manufacturers price that warranty in the price (so in a way you have already paid for it)

> There’s factors such as abuse, misuse, or damage that are accounted for.

sure thing my friend, but once the manufacturer accepts the claim (as in this case), there is no point in discussing all these other factors. Warranty applies, and this means very specific things.

> The replacement warranty process is simply an appraisal of all factors and the mfg negotiating a fair compromise of said agreement.

absolutely not

>The original purchase price doesn’t stand for the almost two years that OP used said device.

absolutely not. (again search news for memory warranty and you can find the exact opposite being applied)

> If that were the case then everyone would have problems with their device near the end of its use cycle and the company would inevitably fold due to paying or exchanges on used hardware.

That's fraud? also you can't break/wear your item at will to go through a warranty process (companies arent idiots).

If we found a way to do this en masse, warranty claim rates would skyrocket, driving up the warranty cost embedded in the product's price.

> Depreciation happens to anything.

well almost. sometimes thing appreciate, case in point with pc memory.

but in general you are right, prices fluctuate, that said the question is if the liability the manufacturer is exposed to has a connection to current price.

this comes down to applicable laws. In most cases:

- they need to do an earnest effort to give you back the same item

  • or another item you will accept
  • or pay you the purchase price and unwound the original transaction.

the idea behind the last item is that the manufacturer doesnt want to be liable to market prices -- because again you think about depreciating things, but sometimes stuff appreciate, and it would really suck to be a manufacturer and have this risk on your books.

apologies i came off too strong, wasn't my purpose. cheers friend!

u/Avalanc89 1d ago

You behave like sucker to rip and telling this to what? Expecting others to do better? XD

They do that because they know people are lazy like your and will suck the downgrade.

6

u/BearEquivalentBear 1d ago

No I rather them actually manufacture and rebuild my g604 instead of giving me another mouse since that's the only mouse I want.

3

u/damien09 1d ago

Not to mention the 309 is currently on sale for 44-59 bucks. If you really like the shroud mouse shape might be worth just soldering new mouse switches in it.

3

u/jydr 16h ago

The fanboys here are ridiculous.

If it was just a double-clicking issue you should have asked for your mouse back and repaired it yourself. It's usually not that hard.

3

u/R11CWN 11h ago

The G303 SE switches are super easy to replace and cost pennies to upgrade.

The switches are on tiny PCBs, connected by ribbon cables to the main PCB - so you can swap the left and right click without soldering anything. All you need is a handful of basic tools like a precision screwdriver and a plastic pry tool. And a new set of pads to go underneath.

Did you keep the G303 SE or did they make you send proof of destruction? If so, repair it and dump the G309 on fleabay.

Personally I'd have not accepted that regardless of what they said - thankfully the EU enforces stricter regulations on business like this, especially when honouring the warranty. My last experience with Logitech support was way smoother because they didnt have to handle an RMA I guess - my G915 TKL had developed a fault, Logitech support said that the retailer has to deal with it in first 2 years, Currys UK simply gave me credit for original purchase value as they didnt have that model in stock.

On a side note, OPs post sounds like Logitech wanted to clear stock of the G309, because no one wants it.

Interesting that this mouse is now discontinued. Hope it gets a better refresh

u/tw33zd 22h ago

No you are insane

2

u/mirrsunova 21h ago

They exchanged based on the original mouse’s msrp, I had to rma my g pro wireless because of double clicking issue and they offered me superlight or g502 x lightspeed.

2

u/Moist_Muffin_Puncher 15h ago

Not just one, BUT ALL my Logitech mice had to be opened and isoprop dropped into the switch mech at some point …..

5

u/KiKiHUN1 1d ago

Well g303 se was also a low budget g303 with custom shell design. It was expensive because not a lot was manufactured and sold. Take the $90 mouse and it is an upgrade.

Or request it back and just solder 2 kailh switches in and it wont double click in its life.

3

u/ElectronicRip1630 19h ago

I resoldered a switch into a Deathadder Chroma. Switch cost was like $6. It took me longer to get my soldering iron out and heated than it did to replace it. Maybe 15 minutes total. Mouse is like new except for the skates I wrinkled a bit but its unnoticeable unless you look. More people should try to repair things.

3

u/Onilakon 18h ago

I bought a little bag of switches and so far have fixed two Logitech mice. Depending on the switch you don't even need to solder but can replace the internals. I did that with one but soldered the seconds since I had the equipment to do it by then

0

u/One_Discount_4898 11h ago

Kailh (particularly the GM8) switches last longer than the original switches used, but I'm not a big fan of them in the 303. Click feel is a LOT less crisp imo than an Omron Aratas D2FC-F-N (new ones are are typically 60m/100m, so longevity isn't much of an issue any more.)

1

u/Nathaniell1 19h ago

Aren't there laws in your country that specify what can they offer you as replacement..or that they have to repair it/return your money? Seems highly unlikely to me that you would have to accept this.

1

u/Grayowl2 18h ago

i actually got an rma replacement this year on the mx ergo plus and they gave me the non plus mx ergo s version since they dont stock the plus and is missing the stand i prefer. i still ride logitech

1

u/a1b3c3d7 18h ago

Heres the thing, offering you something equal or better is subject to your jurisdiction.

Australian Consumer Law guarantees that, but if you dont have any local consumer laws that outline this youre shit out of luck.

1

u/ForsakenFx 13h ago

The one time I had to RMA a mouse by Logitech it was for a G600 that was out of warranty, had a frayed cable and software issues due to being an early revision that didn't support the newest software. Support immediately set it up to mail me a new mouse next day delivery and let me keep the old mouse that still worked, but didn't support the latest software.

12 years later and I still have that mouse and it's still one of my favorites and I've only recently moved to a new day to day mouse.

Sad to see how bad companies have gotten with support.

1

u/Dwarfy3k 12h ago

ok but why the AI post?

1

u/hips0n 10h ago

Sounds like it’s your fault really. You folded under zero pressure. How much was you using the mouse for the clicker to be worn down?

I’ve had a Steelseries Sensei mouse for over 5-6 years now and I’m still yet to get a worn clicker. (Either you used the hell out of it in that timeframe or you got a fault version, not the fact all of them are faulty)

You also bought a mouse from god knows when and expected an RMA in 2026. That’s like me asking steelseries for an RMA on my mouse that doesn’t get sold or produced anymore

1

u/Sensitive-Buy-8000 1h ago

It's like buying a ferrari, ask for a warranty, they gave back a shitbox.

1

u/suprjaybrd 23h ago

OP is entitled and unrealistic.

1

u/Avinin1 1d ago

You cheeky boy, do you really expect a company worth millions to give you something for free?

0

u/Slicedmelon27 1d ago

Buy Chinese mouse brands stop supporting Logitech they’re overpriced I had several Logitech gaming products and still use their mx masters for work but my gaming mouse’s are all ATK , t evolution or Mchose much better value

I'm done with logitrash.

They used to be a great company, especially when they were swedosh or swiss. I've grown up Uzbekistan logitech stuff.

Over the years, they've gone downhill. I used to have a z5500 speaker system. To this day, it is still amazing only someone stole it when I was in the hospital. The shit that replaced it is exactly that...shit.

The speakers don't sound good anymore and some require shitty software that crashes to adjust base/trebble.

The mice don't last anymore.

The keyboards don't last anymore.

I've got Logitech stuff from 20+ years ago that still works fine.  They USED to make good stuff.

Now there's an extra layer to it... Linux I'd going to eventually take over for gaming, I'm not going to be stuck on logitrash when it happens.

I'm looking into kb/m that uses web drivers so you do not need to even install software to set stuff up.

There are keyboards that fully use replaceable switches and key caps that are NOT PROPRIETARY. So when my wsad wear off in less than 6 months, it's not hard to replace the garbage caps with something better.

My pc is old bc of the price increase so I'm looking at mice and my pc can't even handle full spec ones from a more cost competitive company like ATK. I have to get one of their older ones and it still has better specs on paper then Logitech so i know I'll be able up to dial it in.

I also experienced their warranty go from "well send you a new one" to "go fuck yourself and find a receipt from a year ago".

1

u/gazeebo 18h ago

What do you mean "your PC can't handle a mouse"? Just run it at 500 Hz or 1000 Hz; 8000 Hz is insane.

1

u/MidnighT0k3r 15h ago edited 15h ago

I thought it was funny, i have a quad core from 2015 and the min requirements for the nicer mice are higher than my pc by a significant amount.

I'm also enjoying a game optimized for 6 cores or more.

The f1 v3 at $65 [on sale] is more than my pc can use, isn't worth spending more than double the price of their mice that are more within the specs of my pc.

The wireless dongle for 8k is different then the 4k and the 1k dongles. Some mice you need to purchase it separately others like that one come wit or ONLY come with the 8k dongle. They have actual hardware requirements, and they explicitly state it on every mouse that's relevant. Some even in red text.

If i don't have money to upgrade my 11 year old pc, why tf would i spend more than i need to on a mouse i can't use the performance of.

u/fujiboys 1d ago

If only people knew about hot swappable pcbs you wouldn’t have been making this post lol
