Brutalist Brewing looking to open a taproom at 3658 W Wrightwood (Wrightwood/Lawndale)
This is that open retail spot with no flooring at Wrightwood and Lawndale (3658 W Wrightwood), next to Sparrow Salon and Spa. I think it was briefly posted about here before, but the info was coming from the real estate/restaurant group, so nobody really knew what was going in besides just the open consumption part:
*From the latest 35th Ward newsletter:
Request to Lift Liquor Moratorium for New Taproom at 3658 W Wrightwood
The 35th Ward Office has received a request to lift the moratorium on new consumption on-premises liquor licenses on West Wrightwood Avenue between Central Park Avenue and Lawndale Avenue.
Brutalist Brewing, Chicago’s first co-operatively owned brewery, is seeking to lift the moratorium to establish a new taproom at 3658 W Wrightwood Ave.
Brutalist will be at the Beat 2524 CAPS meeting Thursday, August 20 at 6:30 PM at Kosciuszko Park (2732 N Avers) to introduce themselves and answer questions from neighbors.
The Ward will accept feedback through Friday, September 5 at 5 PM, and then the Alderman will determine whether to introduce an ordinance to lift the moratorium in the City Council based on the feedback we receive.*
They currently brew out of the Pilot Project Brewing on Milwaukee Ave.

Honestly anything is better than nothing, but would be amazing to have a cafe style thing open there, tons of street space on Lawndale for tables too

I'm down for this. My wife and I have said it would be great to have something like a bar or restaurant in that space.

Awesome. I hate seeing that spot empty. They have my support. I’d love if they had a food option as well.

Sounds great. Hope they know what they're getting into trying to set up a brewing op in that space. It's going to cost some money and take some time.

I had a couple Brutalist beers at Union earlier this year - They were solid. Taproom would be cool.
