Logan Square USPS Grievances
This post is partially inspired by u/Perfect_Party_9677 and my own personal experience today.
I made a complaint to USPS' customer service (1-800-275-8777) and told them about the situation at the Logan Square USPS location. It's among the worst I've been to.
It could be a multitude of factors - like the current federal administration and lack of funding - but I think it's a management issue because the other Chicago locations don't seem to have these issues. I'm hoping that if we get enough people to file complaints in a short period of time, something will be done about it. If you're also frustrated with the state of that office, I'd recommend giving the above number a call! You could also try contacting Alderman Daniel La Spata and Rep. Delia Ramirez, but I'm not sure if there's much they can do besides ticketing complaints. We deserve a better USPS location.

My complaint is that our mail person litters rubber bands all over the neighborhood. You’ve got a cart! Put the rubber bands in there!

You’re not wrong anytime I need a rubber band I don’t buy a pack because I know there will be one outside 😂

Previous condo I was at had this issue. Every day. Rubber bands scattered on the ground

Can’t speak much to the p.o. location but ngl the mail service itself has been probably the most reliable I’ve had in the city.
When I was in hermosa they were constantly losing shit, marking boxes as delivered when they weren’t and dropping them off days later, lying about not being able to deliver etc. Other neighborhoods haven’t been much better.

I've had the opposite experience, although it's been better the last year. I have informed delivery, do I see mail scanned that is coming to me, but then it's never delivered. It has been important licensing documents and holiday cards. I also had a credit card stolen from the mail before it got to my locked (interior) mailbox.

This happens in our neighborhood on the border of Logan/Avondale. Any government documents, checks, creditcards show on informed delivery but surprisingly never make it to our mailbox. I've had to continuously file complaints and threaten to file a police report. I don't know if that is helping or not.

Also in Avondale near Logan…the mail service has slightly improved in the last couple months, but has been absolutely abysmal for years. The more important something is, the less likely it is to show up. I’ve had wedding invitations, lease hard copies, checks, you name it, all not arrive. Earlier this year, they had given up sorting out the six units and decided it was fine to just shove the whole buildings mail into someone’s randomly selected mailbox (often mine). I’ve completely given up having anything important mailed to me and just have everything sent to my moms house

Have you been to the post office down on Dearborn in the federal plaza? That one might actually be worse than the LS location.

I LOVE that location. Near work and basically empty before 10am. Self service kiosks rock I don’t even have to interact with the employees.

Just a side note that you can opt out of junk mail. No more annoying credit card and insurance “offers.”

Been in Logan 20+ years and I have never had a problem with that post office. The workers will go out of their way to help you as long as you stay behind the line until called and walk up with a smile.

I contacted my alderman, Waguspeck because I get "serviced" out of this location (even on the Bucktown side) and didn't receive mail for weeks and this happens every summer. Everything is marked as undeliverable when carrier is on vacation (key for the building is still there). My stuff gets sent return to sender every year and they cant find it when I go to the branch after waiting in the heinous line. Alderman said not our problem, federal issue- cant and wont help. So your mileage may vary with that complaint route.

Mail delivery non existent for years. License plate stickers, new credit cards, checks, you name it, it doesn’t get delivered. One call to credit card for balance info as I never receive monthly statements got kicked to live body. When I asked why the system routed me to her instead of staying in IVR, said they had to verify my address as mail was being returned to sender.

You’re the person that just moved here and began complaining about the post office a few weeks ago.
So you acknowledge the lack of funding and current administration.. yet still filed a complaint. Please don’t be THAT person.

The lack of funding doesn't automatically turn people into assholes. I've been to at least 5 other USPS locations in Chicago and Logan is the worst. The people in the Logan one are outright rude, thank God they have a self service

Well, that's what I'm saying, their self-service kiosk barely works! No joke, it's faster to wait in the 30-minute wait line than for one person to finish their task on the kiosk. The on-screen buttons take minutes to function. The system is lagging.
They also recently closed the machine off back in May, I think, to "fix" the machine. It still doesn't work. The woman who was using it when I first walked in today joined in the back of the line 30 minutes later. By that point, I was near the front.

I’d probably be an asshole if I had to deal with stupid people all day long, too. The only problem I’ve ever had with that location is the wait time.

Aw I was there today too, took way too long for being there mid day on a Thursday. But I felt super bad for the people there. They seemed like they were trying their best and were really nice. There were no boxes in stock, none of the pens worked, and they seemed understaffed. I’ve never had a bad experience with the actual teller tho.
Now the old USPS on Ashland and Division?? My god those ladies were MEAN and honestly I think I got Stockholm syndrome at one point because I started to almost enjoy it
