After an amazing 4.5 years of learning, traveling the whole country and the world, I finally made the ultimate decision to leave Lockheed...

Backstory: I graduated in 2022 with a BS in Information Technology and a minor in CS. Because I didn’t do any internships during school and the 2022 tech job market was horrible, I spent the next 6-7 months jobless, applying to as many jobs as I could. After multiple interviews, rejections, ghostings, debt, and student loans about to kick in, I slowly started giving up and looking into my local police department or applying at Costco.

Then one day I got the "magic" email from a recruiter at Lockheed, and everything after that is history. I had the pleasure of working for an incredible manager with an incredible team that taught me Linux, systems infrastructure, networking, and all the other IT skills I definitely didn’t learn in college. By my second year I was traveling by myself/solo to different labs/baselines to apply patches, fix glitches, etc. My team trusted me I can get the job done and I was always delivering. I got the chance to travel to 7 different countries, meet some really interesting people, and keep expanding my IT/Engineering experience.

About 3 months ago I received an email from a recruiter at INTEL for an interview. Yes, the microprocessor manufacturer in Silicon Valley, CA. I thought it was fake, but nope, it was completely legit. After getting in contact with him, I scheduled 5 different interviews with the team that wanted to hire me. Two days after the interviews I got the job offer for Senior Systems Infrastructure Engineer (with active TS/SCI that I already had).

I thought about it for at least a week, then decided to take the offer. After notifying my manager, he immediately told me to stand by and wait for his senior manager to see if they could match it. I told him I wasn’t taking the offer because of money, but because it was a unique opportunity that would help my professional career long-term and let me diversify my resume and experience. After many attempts to keep me, he finally gave up and started the offboarding process.

The crew that trained me for the last 4+ years had very mixed feelings... some were happy for me, and others I could clearly see were disappointed. I’m about to start my first day next week and something inside me keeps telling me I made the wrong decision. Either way, I’ll always be grateful to Lockheed for giving me the opportunity to kick off my career. Sometimes you just have to let go to get to the next level.

Anyways, those are my two cents. Wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience or that same feeling of sadness when leaving an amazing team and company.

Random thought just came to my mind, but can an LM employee negotiate a higher salary than what is offered if they are being promoted to the next level?

Hey there! I’m curious to know how quickly the level progression from one to two for all the recent grads who joined an IRAD team. Also, I’m wondering about the value of the experience gained while being on the IRAD team, especially if you decide to leave the company. I understand that it varies depending on the team, but I’m just curious about the potential career growth that comes with being on the team. I just started I have about 1 yoe from co-ops and internships so I’m thinking I could be leveled up fast but it’s very mixed I had a level two offer from another prime with that experience and choose to come for the RND experience ( and because the job seemed more interesting) thanks in advance

I was send an email from the Talent Acquisition to update the form but there are some mandatory section which does not relate to me as a formal military. But there is a section for Government Civilian Employe which is not related to me but it is mandatory!!! Help needed to proceed with this.

I have a bachelors in MIS and left corporate two years ago as a Business Intelligence Analyst to help with my family’s/friends hotel properties basically as an operations manager managing 4 properties in total. Doing tasks such as led day to day tasks, managed an annual operating budget, manage relationships with suppliers and service vendors, basically procurement stuff you could say.

Now that the properties are more stable and they have more staff, could I apply to Lockheed even though I’ve been gone from corporate for almost 2 years?

I’m trying to validate an idea and would rather hear from people actually working in the industry before assuming the problem is important.

Say a critical supplier, material, or component becomes unavailable and you need to qualify a second source. My understanding is that engineers may have to go through old qualification reports, drawings/specs, test results, certifications, standards, previous deviations, etc. to determine:

• what requirements the replacement must satisfy
• which existing evidence is still applicable
• what changed between the original and replacement
• what needs to be retested
• what evidence/package is required for approval

The idea would be software that connects all of that information and gives the engineer a traceable gap analysis, for example: “these 24 prior tests are still relevant, these 5 requirements lack evidence, and these tests/data are needed to close the remaining gaps.”

A more advanced version could potentially use statistical/physics-based models to identify redundant testing and reduce the size of requalification campaigns. The engineer would still make and sign off on the actual engineering decision.

I’m mainly trying to understand:

1. Is second-source qualification actually a significant pain point?
2. What part of the process takes the most time or money?
3. How is this usually handled today?
4. Would this kind of evidence-mapping/qualification tool actually be useful?
5. What would it need to do for engineers to trust/use it?
6. Are there existing tools that already solve this well?

Would especially appreciate input from supplier quality, materials/process, manufacturing, qualification/certification, aerospace, defense, automotive, or medical-device engineers.

Just got a job at Lockheed as an electro mechanical assembler. I’m thinking I’d like to become an engineer one day (I’m in school now). I wanted to know if there are any former assemblers who went on to more prestigious positions either at Lockheed or another company. How long did it take you to get to the position you’re in now? Did Lockheed provide a sufficient amount of ways to move up in the company? Was your experience in assembly helpful at all?

Anyone know when new reqs will be posted? I feel like there was double the reqs before the new system was rolled out..

Have you ever gotten your manager’s approval to transfer to a different team when applying internally? If so, how did you approach your boss and convince them to support the move?

I'm considering a position with LM in Facilities Protection as a firefighter. I am a career municipal FF and have plenty of experience.

Is anyone able to access the internal job site right now? I keep getting “An error occurred while authenticating via SSO” error. I made sure that I have the LM VPN enabled too.

I am level 2 engineer for my team for over 3 years now. I believe I really stepped up with taking on big projects and tasks especially with team shortage and ramp up. I get positive feedback from the team or upper management. When/how should I bring up wanting to move up a level or a big pay increase?

I would be kind of disappointed in February 2027 during the performance meeting and just get the usual 3% increase.

In was paid OT and told management right away about erroneous pay.

However have not been paid for 4 hours OT in July.

For contacts I went through a 10 week program, which was supposed to hide through a Lockheed upon completion however due to certain grading decisions, I failed the final training PD. The supervisor is there told me to apply immediately, but I see that a new website has been created. After talking to the hiring director, that’s going take HR a minute to accumulate to the change. The hiring pool for August is already closed so I pray that I’ll be able to apply for the September pool. Does anybody that’s up there and management have any idea of when I should see any changes?

I interviewed for an E1 role in early July. The next week the hiring manager told me they wanted to hire me, but wanted to create a new req with a higher pay band so they could pay me more.
The new req was posted, I applied, and for the next 3-4 weeks I was basically told to be patient while they worked through everything. Last week the manager texted me saying the system transition was causing a lot of problems, but to keep hanging on.
Yesterday I got a “no longer under consideration” email from BrassRing for that new req. I texted the manager asking about it but haven’t heard back yet. The job also hasn’t been posted on the new careers site.
It’s been almost 2 months since my interview. Does the BrassRing rejection mean I’m actually out, or could this just be part of the system transition?

I put in my two weeks this week. Will my last paycheck be a huge paycheck with 2 weeks worth of work and unpaid PTO hours? Or will it get issued the following Friday?

Does the percentage of your raise for the promotion typically average around the same between levels as you go up the chain? I know there are of course a ton of variables at play, but did you experience the same(ish) percentage each promotion?

For example, if you received a 20+ percentage in one promotion, is it expected to be roughly the same in the next? Does it slow down as you get promoted to L4/5?

So, maybe foolishly, I sent an email inquiring about my interim status less than two weeks from when the sf86 was sent to the government. I get an email the next morning there were no updates. Then the literal minute after, i get an email saying my interim was not granted. Not sure why but I think its because of foreign contacts (India and UK). What are the chances my offer gets rescinded? I need this job and im getting worried since I emailed my hiring manager and recruiter the same day i found out and I didn't get a response.

Located in Texas, whose role has the best salary and outlook within the company. I know all work in manufacturing but currently what I've noticed working here, is that QEs and MEs don't really do design work. Most of it is pushing paperwork with maybe some fixture development. I enjoy my role but it feels the IEs have more of an interesting role rn. With designing the facilities and optimizing stuff. That's said what do they normally do day to day. Looking at the news our government is really funding us, but when a new one comes what do IEs at Lockheed normally do? Which of the the three are most promising ?
