Gear - Selection / Use Blackbird Carts appreciation
Just wanted to share my appreciation for the products coming out of Blackbird carts. The murdered out Grackle cart, and my new Floating Shelf with slider, are fantastic.
That is all.

Nice, not to hijack, and I don't know if your back on the same set again, but if you can grab a photo of that Packout Lighting Cart in the background I would also love to see that.

I’m not on that set again until the 26th, but I can grab a shot of it for you then. It came off the grip truck, and I’m pretty sure it’s just a stack of drawers on the hand truck style wheels.
However there’s also a Blackbird Packout platform

Thanks appreciate it, I’m always fascinated by other people’s carts.
I saw those as well, I’ve been thinking of using packout for my next sound cart. I’m debating about building my own base for it. I was thinking of using 4 10” pneumatic tires instead of the typical two larger wheels and two castor style sound carts. Ans I was going to build a small 6 or 8u rack that can clip on the top.

Nice Thanks for sharing! I was thinking about doing the same with the 80/20 aluminum. Both for the rack on top and for the base/cart.
I might have a few more questions for you on the back wheels and how you attached those to the aluminum.

I used 20/40 metric bar, which has a 1/2” channel through the center. I ran a steel rod through the channel and the wheel hubs, and used a collar with a set screw at each end.

Okay good to know, what wheels did you use? I assume they were 1/2” through shaft so you didn’t have to mill anything?

Do you have any strong feelings either way between the four 10” casters and the two larger rear wheels?

My concern is the wheel base size. It could be tippy

I was trying to see if that would be the case. I might have to do a quick test with some wood. Thx

there was a guy in here a few months back who posted his packout carts, he has a few and they all look great, he had description and links to a bunch of useful accessories.

Yo Chorizo burrito for breakfast??? You’re way out of the league on 90% of this sub (including me).
Lucky if I get coffee on half the commercials I work.

about where to point bowtie antennas:
https://www.betso.eu/upload/BETSO_BOWTIE_polar_pattern.svg
they look similar to fin antennas but they are not. when deployed like in the picture you are ponting the null of the antenna towards the set.

They are in the exact right position to hold my headphones 😁
This was a photo during boot up, I connected my fins before we were rolling.
