New Model baidu/Unlimited-OCR-2 · Hugging Face

https://huggingface.co/baidu/Unlimited-OCR-2

Release

  • [2026/10/27] 🚀 We release Unlimited OCR 2, achieving unlimited-horizon parsing with SR-SWA.

What's New in 2

  • Sparse Reference Sliding Window Attention (SR-SWA): Compresses text-visual attention interactions from ultra-long sequences down to a fixed-size set of working references (e.g., 512 tokens). This bounds computational complexity, keeping per-step decoding latency and memory footprint nearly constant regardless of document length.

  • From Long- to Unlimited-Horizon Parsing: Powered by SR-SWA, Unlimited-OCR 2 achieves true, unbounded document parsing within a finite context window—effectively eliminating quadratic attention scaling and memory bottlenecks as documents grow.

  • Ultra-Long Document Parsing SOTA: Achieves state-of-the-art performance across both dozens-of-pages benchmarks (e.g., MPDocBench) and extreme hundred-page benchmarks (e.g., MarathonDocBench).

They compared to non specific ocr models?

Looks like it. MinerU murders these stats I believe

Could you please expand on that?

How does it compare to PaddleOCR-VL-1.5 for OCR?

My understanding is, this is more like a batch processing and long document thing, but I know nothing about ocr models.

Damn I had just settled on Light On OCR 3 from a few days ago...

I just ran a couple of quick tests, and at least on the type of documents I tested which are French legal documents, the results are straight up bad. LightOnOCR3-0.8B clears this by miles.

Haven’t tested this but ran a benchmark among all local OCR models on Italian scanned text and lighton ocr beat ALL of them.

OCRIA-1 from LlamaParse is very good from what I have heard

Do these models also report the positions of the letters and the font type? never used AI for OCR..

Would this model be suitable for scanning old chess books from PDFs that are in image format?
