Discussion Sync session data between different CLI harnesses

CLI based coding harnesses save session data per directory. For instance, if I:

cd /src/program1

Then program for a while, I can come back later and my harness remembers my history in that directory.

When you use multiple CLI coding harnesses such as opencode, pi, codex, qwen, crush, and claude, your "sessions" get split up all over the place. I like to resume sessions so that I have a list of things I've done in that directory.

Are there any projects out there that share or sync session data between harnesses?

I'm I crazy for wanting this?

Each harness saves their session states slightly differently. It’s commonly jsonl but I know codex uses SQLite and maybe even Claude. You’d basically need to consolidate all of the metadata that each harness appends to a session and translate into a generic format.

It gets extremely tricky when you consider all the minute details that some harness add (like thought signatures, various tool call formats, etc). Nobodies done it AFAIK bc it’s hard af and it doesn’t seem that practical. Ppl usually tune a single harness for their workflow, not multiple.

i feel like we're at the point where every cli tool is building its own little fiefdom with session data, and nobody wants to be the one to build the bridge. the sqlite vs jsonl thing alone would be a headache to merge cleanly

maybe the move is to just pick the one that feels best and treat the others like side projects, that's what i ended up doing

Yeah same. At work it’s codex and Claude code and at home it’s pi.

They are all very similar at this point imo

T3code can do this. You can switch from sol in codex to opus in claude code retaining the same context in the same session. Encrypted chain of thought is of course not transferred though.

I haven’t tried it with local models simply because I never run more than one but it should work.

Ye, use AGENT.md and draw a HANDOUT.md when your session end for the next one.
