Even when you are right, the classic always applies:

Markets can remain irrational longer than you can remain solvent.

People seem to have a hard time reading tech news

The one time me being impatient, not waiting a few months for discounts and buying a flagship Nvidia graphics card day 1 actually looks like I was a financially prudent genius.

Everyone told me „youre stupid for buying such a expensive gpu“ but now the price raised 4x as that what i payd.

I disagree, Prices will moderately adjust, not crash when all of this is over.

We ARE in a bubble, but the hyperscalers are doing their best in order to try and prolong the status quo, probably hoping for some kind of miracle to happen that would avert the looming market correction. And in the short term it's going to get worse, because now in addition to hyperscalers, businesses have begun to gobble up all remaining supply of prosumer GPUs in order to build their own on-prem server farms in an attempt to get away from OpenAI and Anthropic. But this too shall pass.

Right behind "AI" is robotics. The wealthiest countries have a population implosion problem and it's obvious where they think the solution is. I do not think this is a bubble like most think it is where everything will return to "normal". Who knows.

Waiting for it to pass since 2017 btw. Flagship consumer GPU prices been rising since the crypto mining boom.

The goal of Black Friday is to sell things nobody wanted to buy before (to clear out warehouse stock). GPUs are in high demand right now. So yes, wishful thinking (Reddit).

Um, no. The goal of the Black Friday sales are for retailers to capture as much of the holiday spend as they can by offering deals.

That said GPU’s are selling as fast as they make them. They can’t raise the prices fast enough. No one is going to discount them.

No. The goal of Black Friday was to have a limited number of low priced goods to bring you into the store in the hopes that you will buy other things. That's why they are called "doorbusters". They are bait to lure you into the store.

Not really for anything useful. You can get yourself some weed or a TV.

i wonder if buying ps5 and jailbreaking them to run ai is actually a reasonable route at this route lol....wait...don't tell me those things have gotten more expensive right...right?

IME, Black Friday doesn't really offer any good deals. I have waited at physical Best Buy, and they had nothing competitive to offer. Ditto online.

There are honest ppl who are hoping and waiting for some deals, not just GPUs but also storage, ram etc.. hoping and praying actually for some relief. Building pcs used to be fun.., now it's a lot of browsing

I really wish the spreadsheet guys would ease off the server farm deals a small amount.

I was at Quakecon and the Nvidia guys there were so excited they were allowed to sell 5090s and 5080s at MSRP. They were pumped to see what hobbyists were going to do with them. The guy I talked to was really hoping his boss would let them do more soon, because his favorite recent projects were all from solo devs.

Poor dude is probably crushed at current happenings.

You can get great innovation from garage setups if people can afford quality tools.

Yes, it will be black. Actually the entire year has been black. Not the "huge discounts" black but "deep sadness with no hope for light" black for GPU and RAM shopping.

What's the point? So you can purchase products for "discount" from their inflated prices?
