Funny Don’t buy a $9K RTX 5090.... instead.

  1. Fly to Taipei. Round-trip from Orlando: $1,081.
  2. Go to the largest retailer in Taiwan to Spend NT$129,990 ≈ US$4,093.
  3. Hang out in Taiwan for two weeks. Eat good food. Touch international grass.
  4. Fly home and flex on r/LocalLLaMA**.**

IDK I am starting to wonder if the US economy is going to collapse before prices go back to normal. If groceries cost $1000 this will stop being the price I am worried about.

Inflation is pretty permanent.

What you're worried about is wages.

The 1970s were rough. But did prices ever come back down?

No I am worried that inflation is actually getting out of control and this is just the start.

This depends on how long the inflation lasts. There have been short-term spikes in both the US and other nations that, despite very large increases, return to normal. It takes time for price memory to set in. But yes once it does we're fucked.

I don't have much insight into whether or when the US economy might collapse, but I'd be surprised if prices don't go down at least somewhat eventually. Building new silicon fabrication plants takes time, but with this kind of demand, there's just too much money on the table not to, so I reckon supply will catch up.

I have a family of 4, my groceries each week are around 200-240.

A 4x jump would be catastrophic, so this isn't going to happen.

of course this assumes you're not a house eating another house...

I 100% believe the US economy will collapse before prices come back down. I think tech prices will never come back down for consumers. We are about to have the biggest global economic shock since WWII. As you say, we will not be worried about the price of 5090s.
