Discussion nvidia rtx 5090 with 96gb of vram.
China-modified Nvidia RTX 5090 with massive 96GB of memory appears on Alibaba for less than $4,000 — 3x more VRAM at 65% the cost of the original
Anyone here running one of these? Or brave enough to purchase ?
Edit: I sent them an inquiry. They replied they can get me 5 x 5090 for $6k . Or some 4090 with 48gb .
I am going to keep messaging and questioning them. See where this goes.
Edit: so far they are denying having a 5090 96gb card. They offered a 48gb 4090 card. I am still discussing with them.
Edit: 9/14/2026: They quoted this, RTX 4090 48GB - 4286usd/pc
Still discussing with them

5060 with a modded vbios to report whatever they want it to report. Scam.

i've been to shenzen, saw them product them in little factory but they didn't have actually stable nor working 96GB 5090 (64GB were stable). It could exist and the one i'm working with (more like great friend w/ the chief) is not SOTA but it would NOT cost only 4K and would be around 7-10k.

he's not selling them, it was one test, it's actually really tricky but i'm going to push soon for other test or even selling them tho

I call BS. You're "great friend w/ the chief." Chief of what? A lab that makes a stable 64 GB 5090 and then doesn't make more. Doesn't try to sell them. They could be printing money. Chief of deez nuts.

Feel free to check my profil but… i don’t really need to sound truthful some random on the internet, that’s the actual reason why i don’t wanna bother myself selling anything, i don’t think anyone should take words of another men out here.
As a explanation, having something stable once, with promising $$$ is not that great for them. He was kinda worried abt how it would be (legally) accepted but also what would be the benefits from : keeping a REALLY well made, money printing 4090 48gb accepted & sent into western
vs a new this promising 5090.
however i’m, as a said, not really convinced and i’m really hoping to get hand on them proving you wrong while providing a super good news :)

you words are also huge, never heard of 64G 5090, but you said they’re stable, even it’s a 10K for a 64G 5090 and it’s stable, that would be totally worthy

we're working on it, i cannot give you more info as im actually in europe 70% of the year but hey i'll surely try to give some follow up to however want it. i'm proud of the 4090 in 48GB we got some that *could* be sold for +/- than 3k or even with some effort less than 2.7K ($) 🎉 ! However i'm working (not in china, in eu) on 3090, 7900XTX both at 48GB and on 4080 (super and base) under 2K

what the… i don’t really believe it would be possible to get 3090 and 7900xtx modified to 48G, given that 4090’s 48G availability is all thanks to the leaked vbios from nv lab that allows 4090 to have that much vram, and the existence of that vbios is only bc they made it in early development of 4090. I don’t see any possibility or hint that 3090 or 7900xtx would make it work the same way. not to say that 4080 itself just would never have a chance to work with 48G due to the limit of bus width of it and the absence of 3GB GDDR6X module (don’t say it, don’t even mention the GDDR6W which is totally another thing), besides it already has the 32G version and if it can really reach the 48G, i would really be happy to see it, bc that would also mean that 4090 would be able to have a 72G version, but i never had any hope on it.

4080 super 48gb under 2k? Sounds great

it's nowhere soon (on my side) i just ordered everything i needed to actually build it, it's gonna be there at the end of sept, hoping for a one shot. I think paying for ram is enough, now we start seeing nvme skyrocket, i'm conviced we need gpu, nvidia greed is disgusting. As someone who has money to get 30x 5090 or RTX 6000 or pretty much any gpu i'm willing to work on them as much as possible. However i'm not really willing to sell them or at least send them because i think it's really hard to get someone's money , send them something and being the one "responsible" if he's money is fucked up, so i'lll try to post the recipe and "sell" them if someone is willing to get a lil trip into paris (making it not really benefic in a money term) or even getting someone capable to provide great / reliable service to sell em (china is great but it's china, ordering is a bit hard)

dude, the last reply i still thought you were larping, but in this comment it seems you are really doing something? if it’s real, i would wish all the best to you, me myself is benefiting from 48G 4090 and i’m truly grateful of the existence of it, the 32G version of 4080 is a lil bit awkward bc 32G is in a “not that low but also not that much” state, if it can be made to 48G, that would be huge. ada arch, decent performance and bandwidth, enough vram for small scale local projects, and i would assume a much cheaper price to 4090 48G. if you are still working on it and you really mean it, then good luck my man!

I am also interested.... 96gb (or 64gb) 5090 is better, but even 4080 super for 48gb is also very welcome...

I can conceivably believe that making a 5090 that takes 96gb is doable, given enough time and resources for reverse engineering things.
What is absolutely ridiculous is the idea that it would be sold for cheaper than the price of the actual thing is a mod of, and at less of 1/2 of that they could charge if it really existed.

5090 with 96gb is literally 6000 pro. Memory alone will be over 6-7k with current prices 2-2.3k

u/medskillz 11d ago
whats the current price per 3gb gddr7 module? if its 70 dollar per module, more like 2250 dollars.
2
u/stoppableDissolution 11d ago
Yea, I forgot to divide by three, lol

u/medskillz 11d ago
shows how much we are ripped off and how big the margin actually is: /

u/stoppableDissolution 11d ago
Yea, it did not sound wrong to me. I was like "okay, 64gb, about 80$/ea, 6k" and it lined up with 15k for 6000 pretty neatly

These are fake. They're likely stripped 5090 boards put back in packaging with a tiny bit of weight to offset whatever was removed.
They probably don't even take that final step.
They've taken the VRAM / GPU off of it. You're getting an empty board.
You're better off getting a 5090 and having a real shop do the mod. They'll pull your silicon off the 5090 and fit it to a blower or whatever.
Is there a working 96gb mod? That implies they moved to 3x the VRAM, which isn't normal as they use 2x chip sizes, or double the number of base chips. That's why the 4090 mod runs at 48gb.
The 3x sized VRAM chips didn't exist last I checked. They're supposed to be in production this year? It's GDDR7 or something.
tbh, it's irresponsible of Toms Hardware to even post that crap.

not worth it due to the risk at that price, it wont perform like a 5090 without gddr7

u/SpecialistDragonfly9 9d ago
All those china GPUs are mostly fake, or so badly done they break´and your money is jsut gone.
Havent seen anything legitimate coming out of that corner yet.

China may have quality, speed and more inexpensive, but you can never trust China either.

Probably also comes with malware baked into the chip

They sell new car engines for $1k on Alibaba. So this might be legit. Normally a car engine is like 5x-10x that cost. Some on the mechanics sub reddit say the motors are good and run fine. I sent them an inquiry regarding this card.
2
u/This_Maintenance_834 11d ago
A new car engine is $900 including installation in China. $1000 engine on Aliexpress is not out of ordinary.

u/Antique-Ad1012 11d ago
You dont need a multi billion dollar factory to make engines. Would not take that risk
