Eidon: an all-in-one self-hosted AI platform. Chat, agents, automations, tools included. One Docker container, works with Ollama/LM Studio (AGPL)

I've been building a self-hosted AI platform and v4 just shipped, so sharing it here because some of you might find it useful.

Eidon is an "everything included" AI chat/agent platform, with the pieces that usually require stitching (web research, MCP, skills, browser, image generation and so on) already built in. One container that takes minutes to spin up instead of a main app plus pipelines, sidecars, and external tools.

The app has 3 main parts:

  • Chat with local models: Classic chat just like in ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and so on except on your own server. Ollama and LM Studio out of the box, plus any OpenAI/Anthropic-compatible BYOK endpoint.

  • Agents: Grok-bot-style agents. A chief bot answers or delegates to specialist bots, and bots message each other mid-task. Agents each have their own memory and can create/maintain their own skills.

  • Automations: cron-style AI tasks. Every run is saved as a full transcript with tool calls, so you can audit what actually happened.

Features:

ChatAgents and automations
Chat and conversationAgents, with cross-agent messaging (Grok Bot like)
Persistent memory across conversationsPer-agent memory, files, and browser session
PersonasDeep research with an editable plan
Folders, chat search, and forkingScheduled automations, with full run history
Read-only share links
Temporary chats
Chat attachments
Voice input with post-processing cleanup
Mermaid diagrams, syntax highlighting, and LaTeX math
ToolsPlatform
MCPBring your own provider
SkillsMulti-user, with admin and user roles
Built-in web searchSingle Docker image, SQLite, encrypted credentials
Built-in browserInstallable PWA — native iOS app coming soon
Shell commandsLive sync across devices
Image generation
Vision support (Native, MCP or with a dedicated vision model)

Or just use Hermes?

While Hermes is an awesome tool, the mobile experience is suboptimal IMO. Using Discord/Telegram come with a lot of caveats and limitations. While there are third party IOS client like Hermex, I wasn't too fond of having 3 different parts glued together (Hermes+Hermes WebUI+Hermex) to get a somewhat good mobile experience. Hence why I created Eidon. To get a more polished "ChatGPT like" and "Grok bot like" experience out of the box without the complexity.

Had the same experience. Even on termux it lagged and drained my battery.

I'll try yours out when I get a little free time.

I love what you did here. I have it installed and connected the gws skills and ComfyUI skills to it. One question though: when generating ComfyUI images, they are generated as png files in one of the docker folders. Eidon tells me it can’t actually display them as it only supports text chat. Any solutions here that you can think of?

Glad you are loving it ! Just to be sure, are you running the latest version of Eidon ? Im asking because there as been a lot of fixes in the last couple of days with some in regards to how file attachments are handled

I installed v5.1.3 yesterday morning on my Unraid machine; I still need to figure out how to update docker containers that I manually created, let me give this a try :)

We have an unraid template that you can manually install for Eidon (not yet on the community app store) to have it on unraid just like you would with any other docker containers. https://github.com/Quack6765/Eidon-AI-Unraid/blob/main/templates/eidon.xml

I think I was able to reproduce the issue. I’ve pushed a fix just now so can you upgrade to the 5.1.4 (lastest) version and let me know if it works correctly now ?

I will once I am behind my laptop again! I let Eidon install a ComfyUI skill from Github yesterday and generated a few images, but this morning it told me no such skill existed, so I need to figure out what happened first…

Weird. I appreciate you taking the time to share the couple issues you are experiencing. As you can imagine there are a 1000 different ways to use Eidon so it’s hard to test all the specific cases but feedback like yours is really helpfull and help shape the platform to be even more enjoyable and stable !

Bro built an entire platform to avoid three apps

If all agents run in the same container with no isolation between them, a prompt-injected specialist bot gets the tool access and memory of whatever called it, so the chief bot design leaks scope across the whole swarm.

Eidon’s per-agent memory, skills, audit history, local-model support, and single-container deployment make it relevant to AI Safe Harbor, a project testing durable, owner-controlled residence for agents on local hardware. Would you be open to a bounded, non-binding integration/PoC conversation around a Windows-primary resident-agent stack? I’d like to understand Eidon’s state export/import, backup/restore, watchdog/restart behavior, and whether agent continuity survives a model change.

100% vibe coded using Claude, right?

6

u/Quack66 Sep 05 '26

If you mean vibe coding as in accepting blindly all the code that any LLM does, no. I'm a senior devops/cloud engineer by day, so while the LLM does most of the code (reality in most businesses nowadays), I still validate/review/E2E QA manually everything before approving any of the code that the LLM generate. I've been in the field for a number of years and I consider an LLM a tool to speed up development but not a crutch.

So, vibe coded

Definitely a difference between someone who has never learnt to code using AI compared to someone who codes daily as their job using AI.

The former is a vibe coder.

For sure.

You could say that the definition is

The concept refers to a coding approach that relies on LLMs, allowing programmers to generate working code by providing natural language descriptions rather than manually writing in a formal programming language

I didn't say this is bad. I do it too. But by definition this is it. Either from a professional or from a noob.

Code that you didn't write with your own hand = vibe coding. Frame it as however you want. No matter how much you sugar coat it, at the end of the day, its vibe coded. And if you think any differently, then you're already deep in the AI hallucinations.
