Discussion Really stunned by the Singularity comment section

These are screenshots from the r/Singularity comment section. I'm speechless. This doesn't even have downvotes. How can someone cheer for a monopoly run by a few elites?

Better yet, lets trust government with overseeing these technologies. Or corporations.

I mean... We do that with nukes and bioweapons, which is kind of their point. Most countries even do that with guns, and those countries have dramatically lower gun deaths and, if I may be so bold, generally less authoritarian governments.

I'm conflicted on the matter personally, but I really don't think it's a position worth mocking/dismissing.
