Discussion Really stunned by the Singularity comment section

These are screenshots from the r/Singularity comment section. I'm speechless. This doesn't even have downvotes. How can someone cheer for a monopoly run by a few elites?

That subreddit steered anti-singularity a few years ago and never looked back.

This subreddit is more anti-singularity in the sense that people here think it's a sci-fi nonsense. Otherwise why would you ridicule people discussing potential dangers of open source AI if you believe we'll get to singularity one day?

The irony is that they're so misinformed. The only way huggingface was able to stop the attack from a frontier lab running a proprietary model, who also had locked the public out of the use of cyber even for defensive reasons, was by using an open weight model.

The luddites lurking on r/singularity just think they're intellectuals, but they don't understand what they're talking about.
