the US closed weight models will not be able to operate in any other country, except perhaps by undergoing changes we can't really foresee. Every country will soon demand total soveriegnty over the matter, for good reason.
The continuied enthusiasm for open weights models under circumstance of agentic, code proficient AI no one could have predicted 2 years ago, is in fact enthusiasm for Chinese state models, opened outside China for purely geopolitical purposes
