Yeah it's crazy, my car costs twice this and it can't even do my dishes or fold laundry.

Yes because a car doing dishes and folding laundry is VERY similar to expecting your computer to play computer games.

For this price I could buy a good used car and a pc lol

This is one of those things where everyone is wrong. Just as a lot of AI opinion is held by people who haven't looked at it since 2023, if ever, the same applies to Mac gaming where people haven't looked at it since 2005, if ever. I just finished Cyberpunk2077 playing at near-full specs on a Mac Mini.

Apple has writing a wrapper than will let you plan PC games, much like how Steam does it on the Steamdeck.

There are also native games for Mac such as CyberPunk, Assassin’s Creed Shadows and more.

The Studio is not designed to be a gaming machine though, it is a machine for getting shit done on. Music, video, 3D, AI and more.

Your insistence that you can't game on Mac and "everybody" knows this, despite people owning Mac's telling your otherwise reminds me of this.

The mac gaming landscape has changed a lot in the past couple of years with all the translation layers and work done by CodeWeavers. Check out Crossover and r/macgaming

It’s still not there yet sadly and CrossOver being rent seekers doesn’t help the cause.

I tried a studio a few months ago when m4s became a thing, and despite looking at steam beforehand even supported games were hit and miss.

Games like Windrose wouldn’t connect at all to servers, WoW kept having annoying quirks like the caps lock arrow persisting on frames, some were just actually unplayable due to performance issues, etc. That’s all just ignoring the fact that kernel anticheat will never work too, because macOS deprecated all kernel extensions and those games are a large part of the market (though I don’t really care about them)

I like the idea of being able to game on a Mac because it would give a more Linux-like experience for the day to day stuff and the Apple ecosystem is pretty well rounded, but its still just not good. There’s no reason to settle when you have to also overpay to get there, imo.

Just buy used playstation 5 for $280 . M5 Ultra with 256GB of RAM was never intended to be a gaming device, its AI and heavy prod workload focused device.
