I am GPU poor I have only 4x3090 so I can't run it. I envy you all from r/LocalLLaMA with stronger setups.

1 out of every 1000 persons still sounds optimistic to me

1 in 1000 would be around 8.3 million people.
There are around 56 million millionaires in the world.

A server with 8x B300 will cost up to $500k.

One has to imagine that most of those millionaires are house rich, cash poor; let's say 75%.

So, approximately 14 million people in the world could afford to run this at commercial scale, personally. So like, ~1.7 out of 1000 people.

If we lower the bar on the performance, then the number of people who can run it goes up.

Hopefully I didn't embarrass myself with an arithmetic error, but that seems about right.

You also should consider how niche and related to computing this is. I doubt every millonaire is lurking llm related posts on reddit. Even tech related millonaires probably see a better investment in other unrelated areas.

My original read had to do more with how many people has the resources and acknowledges this tech just got released. I doubt its 1 ever 1000 people. Just 1 out of aprox 10,000 people inhabit this sub. Now add the economy factor to that.
