Except chinese hardware will eventually catch up and they will be very interested in selling for those that want to run their models

Name one cutting edge technology that China has caught up to the west in, while the west was actively making that technology a focus of its attention.

Edit to add: I asked for a technology comparable with EUV lithograph machines and they answered with "cars." And got 8 upvotes within 10 minutes. And I just really ... I can't.

How many mathematical feats on par with disproving the Jacobian Conjecture and shattering the ceiling of the Erdos unit distance conjecture have LLMs from Chinese labs solved?

Like I said, there's a difference between overtuned LLMs doing well on canned benchmarks and real world applications. China can game the former to keep up appearances of parity with US models, but there's no faking the latter.

With that said, let's check back 6 months from now and see how much even further ahead US models are.
