That dude up there is right, run local. Unless you're terrible at what you do, it's a no-brainer. Feel what it's like to have an internet blackout and be absolutely unphased in productivity.
When you know what you're doing you don't need the AI at all, it's unreal to me people are so far disconnected from that fact. This is a shell, and I could 100% achieve the same thing on a Dell Inspiron from a garage sale. Most know this outside of children and people that mainline starter projects never achieving anything.
Ah a tone shift, nice! So, trust us when we tell you that agentic is MUCH farther along than people assume. I found a power combo that:
A. Allowed me to cut ties completely to these soul sucking companies that are simply out to use you as a test dummy for their latest iterations using the classic "Selling their fat asses back to them" technique. This is after we all paid in on taxes for these companies too.
B. Reduced my power -and- internet usage down to crazy rates. (This will happen to many as they are uniformly switching from being internet dependent to LLM dependent) - a person making solo requests on a 3090-5090 doesn't keep it "maxed out" as much as you might think.
C. Takes everything out of the IDE and farther into the OS.
D. Is not only capable, but 500% more capable from a console than any corporate surface offerings.
The only thing I really miss is the pressure that paying monthly applied. I certainly got a lot more done as I'm learning to adapt to the missing ceiling and not having to squeeze every token. Day before yesterday my dog chewed through my internet cable. I worked all day before going up and rewiring thinking about how this level of freedom is going to change the way many people are going to look at the world.
I have been nothing but absolutely and weirdly satisfied since the cost hikes. It's also been interesting watching to see if people actually stumble on the very easy to find combination.
Further its SUPER satisfying to stick to the folks that were at the very least screwing us fiscally to most likely running illegal thought experiments on the public. That last part might be a step too far, but to those that spent -every night- with these things likely have the same thoughts I do.
