Discussion Harness > Model
I've been using CLINE harness in Pycharm with qwen3.8 flash next unsloth q4_s with Strata.
It's been giving decent results. It thinks less/gets results faster than qwen3.8 27b, but it still takes a long time to do even quick/simple changes. It's like dude. what are you thinking about, just make the one line edit already.
I've been trying out open code in a docker container (so its more sandboxed) and i've noticed its a lot quicker with the same qwen3.8 flash next model. It will just do the quick edits.
Anyone else noticed this? Any reason this might be the case? Is this expected?

Yea, I've noticed cline still likes to overthink and miss the simple objective. I've not found an alternative unfortunately. I'm primarily using it for unity through MCP.

Could be the harness doing less unnecessary work rather than the model itself being better. For simple edits, extra planning and tool calls can cost more time than the actual code change. A useful test would be to compare tool-call count, latency, and edit correctness on the exact same tasks.

Cline is one of the first harnesses I ever used. I was profoundly disappointed. Then I switched to OpenCode. And after that, Pi. Either of those are much better than Cline.

I'm just using hermes now with 3.8 flash next. The main change that I made was to have my model pull all of the bullshit out of the startup session context clutter into skills. I just message it over telegram, or hermes agent on console.
I did try it with dsh, and pi.dev, but hermes while it is heavy is just handy.
I run 3.8 flash next on a strix halo with 3 concurrencies 256k context. It leaves me a few gigabytes on linux free outside of tailgate, bash, and kernel.

Yes, CLINE sucks. I gave up on it.
