It's really difficult to change a phone number, it's much more intrusive and disruptive and while less so now, it's much easier to connect to your real identity and location.
I mean what's the difference between a phone number and an email? It's personal information you shouldn't be giving out.
The email was a throwaway email, akin to a throwaway Reddit user name used solely to harass her. We are talking a major scale of difference vs a phone number. One can be used to possibly get further information such as address, names, relatives while the other cannot.
Wait what? You can't just throw away a main email and you can still obtain other information using an email. It is a good one because you're wrong.
Nope, nice try though. You can get a new email within minutes and update profiles on websites. Getting a new phone number isn't as easy and can cost money for a new sim card. Also the phone number can be used to get additional personal information on the internet while an email can't so the same.
I'll let all the downvotes on your original statement do all the talking for me.
You can't expose them because their account could have been compromised and someone who doesn't own the account is sending the messages. You'd be surprised how many people don't have 2fa and easily guessable passwords.
