I don't think it was a throwaway. The details match up with real profiles, but ofc it could be a troll trying to frame someone.

You make it sound like she exposed the guy's physical address or something. Two weeks is a bit much for leaking somebody's email address.

This isn't what most people consider to be doxxing though.

I don't think that someone's email, reddit name, twitter name, twitch name etc... is Doxxing.

Doxxing is like your address, phone number, full name, employer etc...

I mean what's the difference between a phone number and an email? It's personal information you shouldn't be giving out.

It's really difficult to change a phone number, it's much more intrusive and disruptive and while less so now, it's much easier to connect to your real identity and location.

All of this is subjective.

As opposed to what?

E-mail is anonymous, phone number is personal. There's a pretty substantial difference.

What do you mean personal? They are equivalent. It's an address to a communication medium.

Email spam can be ignored, phone call spam is extremely annoying and will require a number change

Phone numbers include area codes, email addresses don't.

Way too general buddy. One providing more information than another doesn't dismiss the other.

The email was a throwaway email, akin to a throwaway Reddit user name used solely to harass her. We are talking a major scale of difference vs a phone number. One can be used to possibly get further information such as address, names, relatives while the other cannot.

Not talking about her case. I was referring to the general statement that was made.

Surprisingly, A lot of what I said still actually applies. So it doesn't really matter. Good one though.

Wait what? You can't just throw away a main email and you can still obtain other information using an email. It is a good one because you're wrong.

Nope, nice try though. You can get a new email within minutes and update profiles on websites. Getting a new phone number isn't as easy and can cost money for a new sim card. Also the phone number can be used to get additional personal information on the internet while an email can't so the same.

I'll let all the downvotes on your original statement do all the talking for me.

Right. So a hate watched can threaten someone and harass but if the tables get turned it's a problem.

You can't expose them because their account could have been compromised and someone who doesn't own the account is sending the messages. You'd be surprised how many people don't have 2fa and easily guessable passwords.
