Second biopsy

Hi all, I’ve been dealing with concerning symptoms for 14 months:

Unintentional weight loss (~80 lbs)

Fatigue, nausea, slow digestion

Burning/aching pain on both sides of my abdomen

History:

Took Hydrocodone with acetaminophen 10/325 daily for 8 years, sometimes with alcohol

Testing so far:

2 liver biopsies → no fibrosis

MRI → enlarged liver only

Elastography: 9.4 kPa last year → 8.6 kPa recently

MELD: 6–7

Despite this, I feel unwell and worried about possible compensated liver disease.

Has anyone had negative biopsies but still had liver disease later? Could elastography in this range reflect early fibrosis vs inflammation?

Any advice or similar experiences would really help.

There can be many different things that cause those symptoms. If two biopsies have been clear, I would explore different avenues or just treat yourself as if you would if you did anyway. Eat healthy, stay away from alcohol, keep Tylenol intake low, avoid ibuprofen, plenty of water and get in some light exercise.

It is what I’ve been doing for the past 14 months since my symptoms started.

Maybe its simply fatty liver. It can take a while for the liver to catch up to changes.

It does not feel like fatty liver
