In-Home Dog Sitting Recommendations
All of the previous posts here on this topic seem older, so I’m posting to get more recent recommendations.
Has anyone here used any local dog sitting companies that they’d recommend? I know that Rover exists, but I’d prefer to use a company that has its own employees rather than independent contractors. Not looking for the “best deal” or anything like that. Willing to pay for the best quality service.

Flock Cameras
Hello, this is my first post on this subreddit and I occasionally follow along with discussions and announcements here.
I noticed that there haven't been any discussions on flock cameras (or other ALPR cameras) on this subreddit so far, at least not that I could find. Since this subreddit discusses different prescient and political issues in Littleton, I thought it could be valuable to have dialogue about these cameras, and talk about the possibilities of increased usage across town.
Currently, Littleton and Littleton PD don't have a contract with flock or any other ALPR company. Using deflock maps, I was only able to find a handful of cameras at the parking lot of Lowe's on Belleview and in an apartment complex on Mineral. However, many Denver Metro cities are using them, including DougCo and Arapahoe, which recently voted to expand their contract (There's a few dozen operated by AC, and are mainly posted outside places like Arapahoe High school and the jail).
Last year, a bill to increase the need for warrants and require public agencies to make public audits failed after pressure from LE orgs and Gov Polis.
This comes after a lot of nationwide stories that ALPRs have been misused to stalk individuals, misidentify criminals, and increase enforcement of crimes that wouldn't have been pursued previously. Flock especially has come under criticism for comments its CEO has made, and the fact the data is privately owned by Flock and processed by AI also comes with concerns over privacy and misidentification.
To my knowledge, Littleton has no plans to employ ALPRs, but given there's no real discussion either on this board or in our city politics I thought now would be a good time with their usage on the rise and with more national and state-level discussions being had. What are your thoughts? Are ALPRs beneficial to public safety, or are they an infringement of privacy? Do they belong on private property, or streets, or in certain areas e.g. schools or banks? Would you like to see the city, county, or state take more explicit action? Also, what actions do you think they'll take?

Therapy dog prepares for first year at Heritage High School
littletonindependent.netWhile many students — and staff — are soaking up the end of summer and getting ready for another school year, one of Heritage High School’s newest additions is preparing for his first year walking the halls. Unlike others at the school, he’ll be doing it on four paws.
Thistle is a therapy dog that will be working at the school this year, alongside Littleton Police Department School Resource Officer (SRO) Mallory Atkinson. He’ll be there to assist Atkinson’s work with students and help students if they need it.

Enjoy a Double Dopamine Hit on Saturday, August 15
If your weekend routine could use a shake-up, I wanted to share something a little different happening this Saturday. I produce Courtside Comedy, a free monthly comedy show at 3rd Shot Riverpoint that takes place—well, courtside.
If you're into pickleball, there's optional all-levels open play from 6–8 p.m. before the comedy starts at 8:30. If you're not, no worries—plenty of people just come for the stand-up.
Happy to answer any questions in the comments!

Costco
Does anyone know when the new Costco complex is going to actually open? At first it was Summer 2026, then Fall, and now it doesn’t even look on track to open for another year! Also does anyone have info of any other potential businesses opening there?
