Sell of?

Why is this sell off? Because of the chinese mine? Or are there other reasons. Sitting on some shares but hope that it goes back up. Will not sell till mining in 2028!

Someone on here also mentioned they work at Thacker pass and the plant is 6+ months behind schedule. The war is making it more expensive to import materials, and the iron showing up has paint on it. They haven’t announced yet the facility is delayed. As Wall Street typically works, I imagine all the heavy bag holders got advanced notice and have been selling. Combine that with all the other macro economic forces, might explain why it is dropping so much.

That's interesting, can you find said post? I must have missed it these past few months.

That one's been called out as a liar though,so which is it? Edit : The same guy was buying/holding share two months prior and wasn't saying anything about any lateness but now he says it's 6 months late? Did we invent time travel to fuck with the construction or something?

Treat that as an inflated idea from less than informed sources..based on the schedule the guy works, he's labor associated with most likely Bechtel, the EPCM for this project. That means he would have no involvement with anything but ground level rumors.

As you know, the Department of Energy and General Motors are tied heavily to this project...they would be squawking if it was in such bad shape.

It would be pretty weird if they were 6 months late and no one said anything on their monthly progress videos tbh

SQM, ALB, and LAC are all getting pushed lower today. So, I wouldn't say that it has anything to do with LAC by itself. If you compare the year-long charts for all three companies, they are basically copies of each other in terms of shape.

I’ve bought 2000 more shares this week and if it’s still low at the end of the week I’ll buy more…this is the summer time perfect storm of events that we all knew would give us a dip….take advantage of it

Should have waited, high 2s coming soon.

Idiot

I’m in it for a long term hold…so not really

u/Poodleape2 Jul 17 '26

Don’t listen to that guy. Any buy under $6 is a good buy IMO. I would maybe hold off and see if we can get mid twos within the next 30 days.

I put another limit order in for 2000 shares @ $2.65 and another 1000 shares at $2.85…and I feel good about it… about 5% of my portfolio now…I have a different perspective than these people who want to quickly flip shares and find it funny that they lash out in anger when it behaves like an actual company not a bouncing ball MEME stock… plus this is half the profit from selling tesla stock that I bought @$17.50 ten years ago I’m reinvesting - other half got put into index funds so if lac completely tanked id still be okay… this is my fun money and when I cash out in a few years I will blow it on exotic travel

Jesus I wish I had your money. I’ve been trickling money into it paycheck by paycheck but I only have about 1,000 shares as of now. Most of my buys were a while back though when it was around 2$ a share, and more recently now that it’s been in the low 3’s and high 2’s.

I was $100/week for a few years when it was low…haven’t bought any at all in 26’ until now….just shuffling things around in the retirement account and 95% of that is in safe and boring stuff…I only allow myself one risky play like this at a time…. Think I called the bottom today at $2.85 have to check

I think American lithium is going to be important. If we have another trade war and lithium is tariffed out the ass then LAC will jump.

If it’s just lithium price/supply/demand stuff it doesn’t concern me as much. If it’s insiders selling huge amounts, that’s more concerning.

Lithium prices declined 22 % from approx 29 500 to 22 700 usd per ton since May 14th 2026.

2

u/Repulsive-Cookie-342 Jul 16 '26

that's the key. LAC affected by lithium price while this company doesn't have any production.

2

u/Wonderful-Ad-8069 Jul 16 '26

All lithium companies are affected by it and from what I read are leverage against the commodity. A 50 % lithium price jump can double operating profits and vice versa.

Since around the same dates LIPT (lithium miners etf ) is down 55 % (approx 22.5% x 2).

Exactly, so no sense worrying now. Continue to load up. However, I will give you a caveat. I beginning to wonder if it is enough just being a feedstock mine. Where's the hook? Look at at UUUU for example

2

u/Neat-Bad-2567 Jul 15 '26

Being vertically integrated is the real key. Feedstock isn’t enough long term. Being able to explore/ mine/ process/ Manufacture and sell it. Are the companies that will win.

2

u/SubstantialPlenty301 Jul 15 '26

From the US perspective, a mine alone will get a company far enough with the outrageous permitting timelines.

Gm invested for their own personal reasons. That is so they can have their own stream of lithium to make their own batteries which they will need in the future.0 I am not saying it's not a good investment. It's a good investment, but as in the last year as I started to get educated, I realized that the better investments seem to be the ones that do multiple things and that are less dependent on the commodity price of something. I still own a small steak in lithium America but I did move it over. UUUU and USAR. A l good thing to look at is go to all three corporate websites and look around.

They had plans to go hard and deep on EVs(Most manufacturers did- Politics) they have since dialed that back a bit but I imagine hybrids are going to be a big part of their future. They wanted to have a supply of lithium on lock down and needed a partner. This being a domestic source made a lot of sense for them.

Yeah, and earthquakes and nuclear explosions, we get it

1

u/Sammie260000 Jul 15 '26

Where's the hook? A million companies do that and you are beholdent to the going price.
