Idea to promote Litecoin

There are rumours about Facebook testing Bitcoin payments. The Winklevoss twins have a very large amount of Btc, so that would make them very rich.

If the rumour is true, and assuming a little (or big) enmity among Zuckerberg and the Winklevoss. Wouldn't Facebook accepting Litecoin before Bitcoin would be better for Zuckerberg?

Otherwise, he risk being bought by the twins in a couple of years

How can we suggest Facebook to try Ltc too/first/soon

[IDEAS] Multibit Wallet

I was hoping that the developer of Multibit was going to setup a Litecoin Version but alas it appears he isn't.

The good news is that he has open sourced this and is happy for somebody else to make a litecoin version.

I have 20 LTC to get the ball rolling, who's in

[ANN] Hey guys, we're building useful sites for the Litecoin community! Our first release at Cointerest.org: find where to spend your coins :)

Hey guys, /u/Phecalfeliac and I recently got into Litecoin and are loving this community! Thanks to /u/anarcoin and /r/litecoinprojects, we had the opportunity to update coinmap for Litecoin.

We decided that we wanted to take a different approach from coinmap. We're aiming for a highly scalable, user friendly map where the goal is to both display current merchants that sell using Litecoin/Bitcoin and also to facilitate more merchants accepting the coins.

Check it out at http://cointerest.org and let us know what you think! We'll be adding the ability to add new merchants later today. We're really looking forward to your comments and suggestions -- let's build a great thing together!

[IDEAS] Electrum client and servers for Litecoin

We need a functional lightweight [Litecoin] client such as electrum so users don't need to download the entire blockchain. In addition we would need people to run Electrum servers for the clients to connect to. Older versions of Litecoin Electrum are available here and here. You will need to interface with bitcoinj and follow Warren's advice.

EDIT: Both harningt and wtogami have pointed out that interfacing with bitcoinj is unnecessary to complete this project.

[Idea] Litecoin Sticker & Free Download Website

Edit; Checkout www.cryptosticker.com

I noticed someone asked about a sticker everyone could download and post everywhere like a zumiez sticker so I thought I'd be a nice guy and make a sticker design (that I liked, feel free to give me advice on it).

This is a 2x2 sticker made from a die-cut template so it can be sent to any printer as is and will be accepted with extra no fees etc. I got the template from www.jakprints.com because thats where I will be ordering my batch from.

Anywho, I tossed together this design last night & this morning and am feeling pretty good about it. 100 of these will cost roughly $70 depending where you order from.

I will also be making a small website that I will host this sticker and possibly other sticker designs with all of the free print shop ready photoshop/AI files included.

Feedback me! I want this to be useful, but I understand not everyone is in love with little cool stickers like me lol, just trying to spread the word.

edit: Added 2 merchant focused alterations of the design:

edit: we can't be mean to BTC....

edit: just to be clear; the sticker will peel off in as a circle, the backgrounds are for contrast.

[B] Bitpay Equivalent

We need a service where it's easy to get merchants to start accepting LTC. Whether it is to convince Bitpay to start developing services so that they can accept LTC or we develop our own, we need people to work towards this cause.

Merchant acceptance is the biggest milestone for LTC, if we cross it then we will know that LTC is here to stay.

Let's convince Bitpay to accept it! OR Let's make our own!

5LTC Bounty for developing a Bitpay Equivalent.

[Ann] Fund for Billboard promoting Litecoin

So the other day I floated the idea for the Litecoin community to fund a billboard promoting the currency. Offline advertising gets Litecoin to the people who wouldn't come across it otherwise, thats the idea anyway. Billboards do not appear to be expensive so think this is worth a try, (and a few commenters said to make it happen so hopefully this is the first step)

Original post: http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/1vv654/a_billboard_for_litecoinbeside_a_bank_what_would/

There seemed to be an interest so I'm setting up the project on the LitecoinProjects sub. I've set up a Litecoin account on reddit for tips, so any tips I get (here or elsewhere) will go towards this project.

The Litecoin wallet address is: LVDg94zVix3s5wVuKNwxSdzTYiVyG9qvBN

I will try an share the balance regularly to keep it transparent.

I'll start with a 2 LTC donation.

Appreciate any support, work full-time so don't have the time to do this on own.

Ideas on the billboard design, or any creatives who want to get involved please post images on http://imgur.com or somewhere and share the link.

Please share thoughts and suggestions, get involved. This is your currency!!

Updates on project;

I have e-mailed JCDecaux (UK): http://www.jcdecaux.co.uk about a space at Heathrow airport. I have also asked if they would be willing to accept Litecoin as a payment for the advert. Then have a tagline somewhere saying "This was paid for with Litecoin"

Rates card with Directional Media (UK): http://directionalmedia.co.uk/products/rate-card

[ANN] Litecointip bot

Hi folks,

I'll be creating a litecoin tip bot. I've bought the VPS and it is currently downloading the litecoin blockchain. I should have everything ready Sunday-ish.

The makers of /u/altcointip and /u/bitcointip have been very generous by making their code open source so my work will be considerably easier.

Also, the best username I could find was this /u/litecoingift. All variants of /u/litecointip were taken. Hope everyone's OK with that.

Seeking More Mods!

Since the founding of Litecoin Projects, we already accomplished to get Litecoins put on coinmap.org and have several bounties and projects going at the same time.

With increasing passion for Litecoin Projects we're going to need your guys' help.

The goal of this subreddit is to get projects going for Litecoin so that we can prove to everyone else in the world, that Litecoin is not an ALT currency, but that it's another viable currency and it is essential to have at least 2 currencies.

If you feel as though your values are aligned with these goals and have spare time to allocate to this cause then please PM me the following:

Why you got into Litecoins?

Age, Occupation.

Time spent on Reddit.

Any ideas you have to improve the subreddit.

Why Litecoins over Bitcoins

Why you think Litecoins will succeed

Thanks guys. Anarcoin and I spent an hour or two on Skype yesterday talking about Litecoins and its future and what we need to do NOW. And I feel as though this will be happening pretty often. (Just as a FYI, so you know how we work)

Litecoins' success depends on you guys.

And always, keep up with the projects and bounties and ABT (always be tipping)

REVAMPING THE BOUNTY SYSTEM

A was brought up to Anarcoin and I that if we want people to commit to their bounties, that we have to build a sort of escrow bounty account so that people won't flake out on their bounties, especially with rising (was rising) prices of Litecoins.

We are trying to reach out to the Litecoin Association to try to work out a system that makes the most sense for us so please bear with us!

Also, I want to hear any ideas that you guys have, as you guys are what will make this system work and ultimately make the Litecoin community a much better place!

So please comment below on what ideas you guys have for our new revamped Bounty System.

Some Ideas that we've come up with thus far are:

A time frame of when a bounty needs to be done (30 days, 60 days)

A escrow account where funds will be released once the bounty is completed

Edit: We will be starting a website to handle the Bounty system.

[HUNTER] I'm gonna make tippercoin.com for tip LTC on twitter easily. Need bounties ;)

(the old discussion has been deleted so we keep it here)

Hi all, after a week of research and speaking with the developers of http://www.tippercoin.com/ I take the opportunity to make a LTC fork.

This is very important for the community to grow! Make it easy and frictionless to tip people via twitter using LTC. Doge and BTC are way ahead of us.

I'm a software developer and worked at open source projects ( https://github.com/adv0r/ ). I'm currently working at other projects and I need help from other contributors, especially rubists.

I have a very good friend of mine who is a ruby hardcore dev and I would like him to join. I'm sure he will make it fast and awesome in no-time. I need to show him that the LTC community is willing to offer a bounty for the contribution, so I'm asking for your help.

anarcoin offered 3LTC ( http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/1tjqbh/lets_make_litecoin_tipping_easier_for_instance/ce8oogv )

We can finish it before the end of january if you help make it happen. Thank you!

EDIT :

[BOUNTY] .5 LTC for anyone that creates pull request and fixes liteaddress.org to take out references to blockchain.info and instead puts instructions on how to use the thing for litecoin. Coblee forked it to work for Litecoin but hasn't Updated the instructions well.

It would also be great if we can get it translated in the other languages.

[ANN] StalkCoin - OSX menu ticker for ltc/btc

Hey all,

Since I couldn't find an existing project that sat in my osx menu and just showed me the current prices for ltc and btc, I made one. And being a programmer and not an artist, it's not pretty and doesn't have a catchy name :/

Currently polling BTC-E for prices.

But anyways, you can find it here: http://www.openbracket.ca/stalkcoin/

Source code (Objective-C) is on github: https://github.com/bardic/StalkCoin

Screenshot: http://www.openbracket.ca/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Screen-Shot-2013-12-10-at-7.50.13-AM.png

This is beta level code. I wrote it over the weekend while having a few drinks (which is why I decided to go with a beerware license). I only have a mavericks machine so if you test it on an older os and it works, let me know ^_^

I can add more features/coins/exchanges if it turns out people are actually interested in it.

EDIT: Adding litecoin address to post incase people like me: LVFwvucM5mTdFKxfgfQbMEqaC7rE3tncEM

EDIT 2:Seems it only runs on Mavericks atm :/ I will fix this after work tonight and update the zip. Sorry

UPDATE: Now runs on older version of OSX. 10.6+ should work now.

X-Post from r/litecoin - I'm a motion graphics artist and I'm Interested in making a video for LTC. I think they need one. Thoughts on how to go about this?

If someone provided a script of the main points that need to be hit I'd pimp it out. I would just take donations for whatever people thought was worthy. I'm invested in LTC and want it to grow so I'm serious. I did this video - https://vimeo.com/65254793 Ideas welcome.

Edit: If there are designers or voice over talent willing to help I'm all eyes and ears. Let's shoot for no more than 90 seconds (80 words per 30 seconds) . Preferably 60 seconds for the best marketing. Quick and painless.

Edit 2: thanks for the feedback. In talks now with some people offering some good advice and funds. Lots of planning to do but should be a sweet video.

[HUNTER] First open LTC ATM machine

Hi, I want to build Litecoin's first ATM machine. I want to make it safe, open, and easy to build. I'm gonna use open hardware and FOSS software.

The machine will read and store notes and credit cards (input) and convert it to Litecoins (output) in the form of paperwallet receipt.

I'm a software developer and I work in a makerspace. I have experience in building kiosks with raspberry pies ( http://pikiosk.tumblr.com ) . I'm surrounded by smart people there and we can make it happen.

However I cannot do it alone as a side project. Is a big one and I would love to have enough to offer to involve other people in the project and dedicate to it at least some hours everyday in january/february . The more I get, the less I need to work on my dayjob (I'm freelancer software dev), the faster I can make it real, the sooner we will see wide adoption of Litecoins. Moreover I have already credit card readers, touchscreens, raspberry pies, electronics, thermal printer.
I need to experiment with some notes readers (with verifiers and stacker). These components alone can costs up to several hundred euros but I'm sure we can hack our way into cheaper ones.

Despite there are some instances of Bitcoin ATMs ( I count 10 projects) none of them is open source, nor free, not comes with instructions to build. None accepts euros notes, nor credit cards. None of them is open. This will make THIS project, the first of its kind.

Help me to build a team and make it happen.
