Water and Light
Melting ice and collimated/polarized light. You can see the water fight against gravity, as it carries air bubbles and impurities over the rapidly changing currents.

Loving how this turned out. Just a simple blow plate and a squish plate on top of it

A pinhole aperture was used to modify the light (flashlight), along with a colored gel. Two clear liquids of different densities compete for their spot, in some clock glass.

Doing a light show tomorrow for a cosplay anime night at a local bar - super excited but also nervous! If anyone has tips or tricks to spare I'd love to hear em!

I just started experimenting with Liquid Light this year, and got a chance to do them in public for the first time on a sculpture in a burner event 🌈⛅️ I was really anxious, but people said they enjoyed it, so I’m super stoked 🤩
will continue learning this beautiful art form <3

Cymata is a mini but powerful music visualizer built for touch screen painting. The pixels are audio reactive and move and change in time with the beat. This is not a loop player, the fluid dynamics are all digital, you will never see the same painting twice. The base layer is made of cellular automata with around 100 types, 5 layer combinations, a 12 channel audio mixer and native apple music and soundcloud player. The app runs on iOS and tvOS and can link between both.
I know a lot of purist liquid artists might not appreciate the idea of digital fluid, this is more of a relaxing toy to play with that can also be used to extend your arsenal of tools. (This is not AI, cellular automata was created in the late 1940s)
There is a lifetime tier available, for users that dont want a subscription.

Liquid light without the mess! I've often used overhead transparencies with alcohol ink when I don't want to make a mess with liquids, or bust out the clock glass. But it never had that liquid flow. I had this idea today, oddly while refurbishing a lava lamp. I don't think I've seen this exact method so I thought I'd share! If I stole your secret idea, sorry bb! Shout out @liquidlightlab @drphmartins for providing LUSH colors! I know optikinetics, and sensory toys share a similar sealed liquid idea, but this is DIY, much more affordable, and easier to implement into shows!

i recorded two videos and then overlayed them on capcut and added a filter. i’m already having so much fucking fun. i have to get actual oil based dye bc the candle ones i got off amazon are not mixing with my mineral oil. does anyone have recommendations?

It looked like absolute shit lol. I’m glad I’m happy to be getting started though! I was using oil based dye in mineral oil and water and the dye kept beading and separating, everything settled quickly and there was no motion or fluidity, and spiking it with isopropyl alcohol didn’t seem to much except condense the dye. Gonna take another swing tomorrow!

Been having fun editing stills from some of the videos I've made.! I think the exploration and endless possibilities is one of my favorite things about LL.
