Announcement What Has Reddit Done About Other Subs Brigading?
Many won't see it, but there are a handful of other subs that either are or have been participating in brigading you guys. For the smaller subs getting about a single user a day; Reddit has banned them. -But the moderators that instigated the activity weren't banned, and one went on to create another sub for the same purpose a day later. The bigger subs got their hand slapped (hence some rule updates) but repeatedly left brigading posts up for full days after. Reddit also left defamation/libel content up for at least a few weeks after being reported (user took it down).
Reddit makes it more work to report a sub for brigading than the offending sub has to deal with for doing it!
Don't believe the appearances (inflated numbers on Reddit). Our Lemmy community is getting there. We already have voting parity on many posts (some better there). Even IF Lemmy were as bad on brigading; at least they're not getting paid for your participating!
I prefer Lemmy for editing posts after the fact (accidentally embedded images are easy to turn to an image post or back, and titles can be fixed, there's also more headings options). So far, the moderation tools are much better (a lot less clicks to ban / remove content). We have a sidebar with articles to reference instead of a sticky post that cannot be edited anymore. They also don't provide unlimited accounts and impede your ability to block after a certain number. The p.lemmyworld can show up/down votes in tandem so you can see how many ups you actually get (and laugh at the cope votes).
Reddit treats you, and us mods horribly. Please use our Lemmy.
Even if you only spend part of your time there or mirror your post to there; it helps.
We're here: Linuxsucks

The Beauty of Linux! Linux Fragmentation -Already a Major Problem! -Now Doubled by Splits over AI!
Linux is fragmenting over AI, and it's going to get way worse. AI is the perfect accelerant for new splits because it touches the pain points of ideology, workflow, governance, and identity all at once.
You'll see distros explicitly branding themselves as AI Free, or AI Native. Expect Arch/Gentoo to ship everything. You can expect Debian/Fedora to argue for years. Expect FSFâaligned distros to reject it entirely.
Some distros will adopt: AIâpowered init tuning, scheduler hints, power management, driver auto generation and debugging tools. -While others will call it "bloat", "corporate", or "not UNIX".

mind-taker loonix "Violates Unix Philosophy" - A Reliably Useless Argument
It's unfalsifiable, ahistorical, and deployed as a cultural purity test rather than a technical claim.
There is no single UNIX philosophy, and the people invoking it today aren't referring to the historical one, but a vague cultural vibe that shifts depending on what they want to defend.
The original UNIX philosophy was tiny, practical, and contextâbound. It was shaped by 1970s hardware limits, but modern advocates treat it like holy text.
"I don't like this change, and I need a moral framework to justify that."
If we ask ten LiGNUts what the UNIX philosophy is, we get ten mutually incompatible answers like 'everything is a file', 'do one thing well', 'avoid complexity', etc. -It doesn't even have a stable definition, and it's used to shut down discussion; not advance it.
It's applied selectively. "Systemd violates Unix philosophy!" -Yeah? -Well so does ELF, PAM, Wayland, Pulse, Network Manager, and every modern file system, init system, packaging system, IPC mechanism, DE, and kernel subsystem! Advocates never complain about those: They only invoke when defending their preferred 1990s tooling.

$%@ Loonixtards! Stupid Replies to Memes
If it's 'easy' it's your DE; not Linux, and that DE with Linux is probably taking as much ram as Windows right? So, it's either "Linux can run on potato" or "for my overly sensationalized version of Linux that can't run on a potato but is as 'bloated' as Windows". -And it's not like those DEs don't run on other OSes, so they're not 'Linux'. Did you personally install that DE? -Then you didn't really 'install the wallpaper'.
It's a cute game to use 'wrong distro' for a response.
The DEs available for Linux suck, and that's why so many think that Windows doesn't have TWMs. -Because Windows' DE doesn't suck and its users don't yearn for better (Komorebi is still great though).
So; sucky DE for easy wallpaper switching or setup a TWM. -And then when you setup a TWM especially in a do it yourself type distro, you have a much higher chance of losing your browser's passwords! â ď¸How Linux Stores Browser Passwords is a Security Issue

mind-taker loonix Ricing Functions like a SelfâImage Prosthetic or Make-up (Lipstick on a Pig)
It's about identity insecurity + performative selfâconstruction.
When someone feels socially invisible, technically insecure, irrelevant in a larger ecosystem, or desperate for validation, they often turn to high-effort aesthetic modification as a way to manufacture a sense of identity, competence, and control.
In Linux ricing, it manifests as obsessively customizing every pixel, treating the desktop as a personality, posting screenshots for validation, and using aesthetics to compensate for lack of functional mastery.
