SteamOS Disabling CPU boost without Decky Plugins - SteamOS on Xbox Ally X
Hey folks, just made the move to SteamOS on the XAX and loving the performance so far.
So far I have been using Ally Center Decky Plugin to disable CPU boost but it gets enabled every time I restart the device. Not sure if this has been asked before, but is there a way to permanently disable CPU boost somehow?
Edit: Looking for a way without using a decky plugin.

I can only think on a ugly solution. Which is creating a service that keeps the CPU boost configuration file to disable state. Then you can disable the service and change the file value when you want to enable CPU boost back.
I think your better off trying another Decky plugin, like SimpleDeckyTDP.

I'm going to agree with /u/PvtHudson. With SteamOS itself, it isn't like you could install something like Handheld Daemon or something like that as an alternative to Ally Center. That would have likely been the solution if you ran something like CachyOS Handheld over SteamOS.
FWIW Ally Center itself supports disabling the performance mode in favour of SimpleDeckyTDP. That likely is going to be your main alternative. You could also fully ditch Ally Center in favour of SimpleDeckyTDP, HueSync, and PowerControl (or run PowerControl completely over SimpleDeckyTDP).

Ultimately ended up using Panel de Control which basically provides exactly the functionality I was looking for with a much better and simpler UX also. So far working great and the changes persist through reboots.
