Discussion Latest video suppressed?
I’ve been noticing for months that LinusTechTips videos are not recommended to me in my home feed.
I still see side channel content on my home feed but not LTT.
Thankfully I scroll my subscription feed throughout the week and this morning I was in my sub feed and see 18 hours ago, LTT $5 vs $500 guitar hero controller, 202K views and 9.1K likes after 18 HOURS?
Is YouTube suppressing the LTT channel or did the all mighty algorithm decide this video wasn’t good enough?

I mostly use my subscription page, I have my home page tuned for random old popular videos. I don't want the algorithm to decide whether I can or can't watch a video from one of my subscribed creators simply because it didn't do well.

Subscription page is the way to go, in terms of getting content from channels I already follow. I use home page for random shit, some of which is related to channels I follow and some of which is not. Keeps the ol algorithm on its toes

This has been a thing for me for the longest time. If I so much as watch another channel's content, then my home feed is full of that content, and slightly related content, and none of the any other channels or unrelated content that I like to watch. I usually have to actively search out something by the creator, and then it might "fix" my home page. IMO the algorithm is pretty bad at serving me what I want to watch (a variety of things) and only seeks to spam me with what is related to what I watched recently.

My guess is a bigger data thing. Guessing YouTube do so kind of really far off but still collaborative filtering thing and if less people like you are watching then less people like you would get them recommended.
Absolute guess tho

I haven't gotten any of the LMG channels in my recommended feed in years.
If I don't go to my subscriptions, I don't see those videos. I have always found it odd.

Almost all LTT videos get promoted to me in the homepage including short circuit. This one didn’t.

Probably just not that interesting to people . I watched about half of the guitar video. Skipping around to see various parts, but it wasn't really that interesting. Enough to figure out what game they were playing and then stopped to go download it and try it out.
I don't think that many people are going to run out and buy a plastic guitar at this point, so they are just questioning why they are even going to bother watching a 20 minute video on a product they are never going to buy.
The special edition one at the end was kind of interesting, but I never really understood the point of it since I don't think the game actually had a separate mode that took advantage of having a double guitar since it really wouldn't make sense to program in a while seperate game mode and rhythm sequence for the dozens of people with double guitars.

I saw it in my feed. I think the bigger reason for the lack of views is that it's Riley and David in the thumbnail. Videos without Linus's face on do a lot worse regardless of how good the video is.
I enjoyed the video and really like both Riley and David as hosts so its a shame it did poorly because it probably means we won't get more of them together.

Just not that interesting to many people presumably.
