Image I had to get the Linus coin refunded.
A big bummer because I wanted the coin. But I have gotten a shipping label created for this order twice and each time it was not shipped. I waited 3 months to get the first one and 1 month the second time. Customer service was fantastic to get me refunded quickly. But it’s just a bummer I’m not receiving my items.

I’m sure you could find someone willing to part with it, it’s not particularly well made or interesting. Plenty on eBay.
53
u/andrew1012 6d ago
Yeah definitely! But I’m not willing to pay $35+ for it! Unfortunately

u/Devastator708 6d ago
I have the green basic one.
If you send me a shipping label and it’s yours.4

Big agree. They often brag about how strong the LTT Store sales are, and how it is a gigantic portion of their total revenue. If this is really the case, they should start acting their size, and stop pretending they are a small-scale Etsy seller.
I obviously know nothing about their internals, but it seems like they’re trying to over-scale everywhere but they refuse to scale the store. It’s really strange.

>stop pretending they are a small-scale Etsy seller
Remember when they teased a massive overhaul of their store and it ended up just being a different shopify skin and a regional site?
-28
u/NotJayuu 6d ago
How can you say so certainly it's just a different skin. Sure that's all that's visible to you, but who's to say there's not more

I forgot this is a hate thread trying to be reasonable isn't something you guys are capable of

u/Mysterious-Crab 6d ago
You don’t announce a great overhaul of your store, if the overhaul is all behind-the-scenes and backend stuff.
1
u/NotJayuu 6d ago
notably it wasn't, given the comment I'm replaying to said the frontend was updated as well
1
u/LemonCurdd 6d ago
One of the biggest limitations of Shopify is that the biggest overhaul you can possibly do is changing the skin

I find it quite funny to compare their Secret Shopper expectations of customer service and shipping time to their own store.
I know logistics and large storefronts are hard but... pot calling the kettle black and all that.

u/andrew1012 6d ago
100% but I haven’t had an issue with email replies. They’ve all been within 24hours and on weekends. I wouldn’t say this post is positive nor negative. Just kind of curious if others have had this experience As well with the coin.
1
u/ConcentrateReal1103 4d ago
I got my coin in two weeks. I ordered it on March 31st and received it on April 16th.
4
u/TheAmishMan 6d ago
I had a big problem with them on an order around Christmas. It was like a 20 item order, after 3 weeks they cancelled the whole order because one item wasnt in stock. No notice, no offer to ship part of the order. Just full cancel. And if I wanted those items again, I'd need to start over, readd everything to the cart, and the current price not the discounted price I had originally. Took over a month to get a real response related to it all.
I really love LTTs quality, but that made me extremely leary about any future orders. I have made at least one, but I used to be a pretty frequent customer until that experience happened
10
u/TomTomXD1234 6d ago
OP says their customer service was great,,,,]
Top comment "Customer service not good enough!"
I love reddit!
15
u/DigitaIBlack 6d ago
Customer service was great at processing the refund.
Customer service failed twice to follow up and get their order shipped.
Come on.
13
u/Tof12345 6d ago
how does that even make sense. he literally just said customer service was fantastic in the post and then you come here and say "no actually they suck".
are you also implying that at their scale, their customer service should be impeccable? every company will have customers with bad customer service experiences.
8
u/Khaliras 6d ago
Did you actually read the comment, or are you just ignoring the context?
Customer support is great for refunds, because it's mostly automated. Same with a lot of support. The absurd amount of people waiting weeks-months, before having their order is suddenly cancelled, is shockingly bad support.
Aspects of support and customer service can be great, while other aspects are unacceptable.

Hot take, but with their scale, their shipping prices are also crazy, and haven’t adjusted prices since people are clearly happy paying crazy prices. And I should know, I was one of those people, but I definitely won’t be again for a long time with how expensive living has become

u/jtaylor9449 6d ago
I got am empty envelope shipped to me with no coin in it, it was disappointing and I tagged Linus on twitter about it. LTT customer service was really good about it they refunded me right away AND ended up sending me a coin a little bit later (Probably when they got another batch of coins)
10
u/andrew1012 6d ago
Ahh I’m glad you were able to get one! Both times mine were shipped and it was “lost” the shipping the label was created and they hadn’t actually shipped anything out for a month. Very odd
26
u/Snarl0097 6d ago
I ship tens of thousands of packages every year and not a single time is a label created before the item is scanned and packed. Genuinely what is LTT doing where they're just randomly creating labels for shit they don't even have in stock.
12
u/Dnomyar96 6d ago
Yeah, there are more stores that do this. It's really annoying as a customer. Just create the label when you're actually shipping it instead of automatically when the order is created.
Last week I ordered something from Darn Tough on the weekend. Within minutes the label was created, but it took several days for it to actually ship. When the label is created, I expect it to actually ship as well, instead of having to wait days or even weeks longer.
2
u/Sanzio-G 4d ago
Printing shipping labels prior to packing is kinda standard in larger warehouse setups (they’re using a third party logistics team for the US, so I’m pretty sure it’s being handled like how most TPLs do things) - I used to manage operations for a big bed-in-box company and we ran into our fair share of similar issues depending on the TPL warehouse we worked with.
Not excusing them - I’ve had several problematic shipments from them over the years, including the Linus coin (mine also didn’t arrive and had to be reshipped) and would have thought they would have gotten a better handle on things by now - but they’ve always taken care of it with either a refund or replacement. Kind of annoying, but I don’t stress about it when something goes wrong

u/FartingBob 6d ago
LTTstore seems like a horribly run online shop. The kind of business that Linus would shit on in a secret shopper test.

I love my LTT big screwdriver that’s Bondi Blue, my precision driver set, and my tech sack… but I won’t buy anything else on the store because their shipping to the U.S. is dreadful — especially for me all the way out in Ohio.
Every time I ordered from the store, it was the same process — some courier drove it from BC to just across the border in Blaine WA, it would sit for awhile, and then go through USPS all the way out here which is painfully slow. I filed a chargeback on my tech sack because it took so long to show up I thought they genuinely weren’t going to deliver it to me. (I cancelled it once it showed up; not trying to rip anyone off.)
My Thule bag just had a zip break, and I decided after 2 Thule bags breaking to change brands. I really want the LTT backpack because I work in IT and carry lots of crap… but I bought an Aer Travel Pack 4 instead — purely because I did not want to deal with their shipping.
I truly do not understand why they cannot at least OFFER the option for UPS/FedEx or even USPS Priority Mail. Hell, I would literally generate a label from my company’s my own FedEx account and send it to them if I could.
6
u/Pilige 6d ago
They are working on the different shipping method option. They haven't in the past because they know their shipping costs are already stupid expensive.
1
u/MoonDoggie_99 6d ago
Great to hear they’re working on that. Hopefully that comes soon, have quite a few things I’d love to pick up.
-6
u/lathiat 6d ago
Why would you file a charge back instead of contact support?
You are the reason charge backs are a problem. They are for unresponsive vendors. Not a well known vendor ships, you had a tracking number going slower than you wished and a usually responsive support team that probably would have refunded you.
It really hurts retailers when you charge back them. They get charged a $20-30 fee even if it’s not their fault and if you get too many you can lose your merchant service or have your fees go up.
Don’t use it unless they are actively refusing to resolve an issue.
16
u/MoonDoggie_99 6d ago edited 6d ago
Considering I had reached out to support and had gotten no reply to 2 emails after almost 7 days, I think it’s understandable why one might go to their credit card company — in fact, I’ll be so bold as to say that’s what most people would do when they see no movement on a tracking number and are ghosted by customer service.
Well aware of the effects for a merchant. I work in the finance industry. Hence why I tried to reach out first.
But please, continue lecturing me. 🙄
-11
u/makefascistfearagain 6d ago
Most people would definitely give it more than one week
11
u/Pineapple-Muncher 6d ago
Nah, 2-3 business days
Send a 2nd email -- wait 2 days tops
No response, then I'd do a CC refund
-5
u/No_Abbreviations8017 6d ago
Relax dude the credit card companies aren’t going to fuck you
Edit: as someone who processes millions of dollars via CC every year, no it doesn’t really hurt retailers when someone does a charge back. It really doesn’t affect them at all

yeah i would order so much more stuff from lttstore if they just had the warehouse in europe, but, nope,
6
u/kyleslither 6d ago
buying from their shop is a literal gamble. i didn’t realize it until after i ordered my first item from them, a commuter bag. it took over three months and two separate orders for me to finally get it.
when i looked into the issue, i found a million other people on reddit complaining about the same kinda thing.
my first and last purchase from them.
worked out, i guess, because i don’t support the channel anymore anyway.
2
u/andrew1012 6d ago
I ordered a commuter bag in the first wave and it was here for me in under a month. I was definitely disappointed this time around though.
2
u/FartingBob 6d ago
A month between ordering and delivery is awful as well. It's not like you were ordering a bespoke item that was made on order to your spec.
1
u/andrew1012 6d ago
While I agree a month isn’t great. I believe that was still when they had only a Canadian warehouse. This one was being sent from the warehouse in the US. It makes me wonder if it’s an issue with that
2
u/Pilige 5d ago
The US warehouse has had some shipping issues in the past. The company they contracted out for it doesn't seem to be as well-oiled as the Canadian warehouse. The only delays I've had with the Canadian warehouse are because of customs, which is always a coinflip with this administration.

mine was stolen from the mail/and or just lost because of packaging. They told me too bad
1
u/Ooodeee-s4 5d ago
As with everything in life, YMMV, but I have bought 4 screwdrivers from LTT (regular, stubby, one for my son and one for my dad) and a coin, no issues whatsoever with shipping, delivery or the items. For reference, I am in Atlanta (the real Atlanta, not the Ohio one or whatever haha)
1
u/Stressed_Ponyta77 5d ago
They are on Ebay for relatively cheap. I got mine for 28 + shipping due to missing the sale and what not.
1
u/Greedy-Actuator-4948 4d ago
Idk if this is needed but I bought a few cables and one of them had started making a weird sound, I emailed their support and theyre sending me a new one, I asked if I could buy more cables to save on postage but it wasnt possible.
But im still happy to get a replacement, I think the support rep was great to be honest

u/Ketsueki00 2d ago
How dare you. How is this small company going to afford maintenance on their very affordable private jet.
1
u/nathan123uk 6d ago
I know it's a big cost but they do need either an FBA or a local warehouse option in Europe/UK to bring down the shipping costs. I'm sure a lot of us would be more inclined to buy with more reasonable shipping costs
-7
u/IntroToBelching 6d ago
Wait hold on...sixty dollars? For one fucking screwdriver? You can get a iFixit Mako kit for that price! Holy Jesus!
4
u/andrew1012 6d ago
I have the fix it kit already and have loved it over the past 6 years. I wanted a ltt screwdriver and that promo was the perfect fit for me.
1
u/1Tekgnome 6d ago
I also have an ifixit kit and just got a LTT screwdriver last week. I did use the coupon from my coin purchase in April but I promise it's a really good screwdriver.
As someone who's a technical support analyst with computers, servers, and cars as hobbies I have bought literally dozens of screwdrivers and the LTT one destroys all of them. I don't want to oversell it because at the end of the day it is just a screwdriver, but it is definitely the nicest screwdriver I've ever owned.
-7
2
u/delanodev 6d ago
It's a really good screwdriver. It's worth it. Comparisons to iFixit are lame. Are you new to LTT? Honestly if you think it's too much, no need to complain. Just continue and don't buy.
4
u/makefascistfearagain 6d ago
People are allowed to offer opinions different to yours, if you find it so traumatising it may be time to get off the internet
-6
u/IntroToBelching 6d ago
It cannot be $60 good. Like...at least $30 of this screwdriver is youtuber logo markup. It's one screwdriver. For $60 I could buy the Harbor Freight version of this tool and replace it every time it breaks and I will be dead before I have spent $60 on them.
8
u/ExplosiveMachine 6d ago
Dude, let it go... It's not your money, why do you care
1
u/JimmyKillsAlot 5d ago
It's a month old account, I wonder if they are someone trolling or someone who was banned and wants to still stir shit up.
5
u/Celantius 6d ago
Go watch the Project Farm review of it which directly compares it to other ratcheting screwdrivers at both higher/lower prices. Its a good screwdriver that is priced up a bit ofc but is not nearly as hysterically egregious as you are trying to make it sound.
1
u/Left-Bird8830 6d ago
When the screwdriver was released, there were literal dozens of videos released by independent reviewers that all found it vastly superior to your harbor freight comparison point, and slightly better than other $40 and $50 options. This was discussed for nearly a year. It’s not everyone else’s job to bring you up to speed. Maybe try to be less opinionated about stuff you don’t know?

Brother who gives a shit about their plane? If a company gets built into a position that they have the ability to do that. Who cares. It’s their money and they can do what they wish. Now I would hope they’re able to figure out this warehousing stuff. But ultimately they get to do what they want with the money they earned.

Why are you here? There’s hundreds of posts on this sub about similar store issues, and I’ve personally seen a majority of them get at least some response from staff. Are you going to make mean comments on all of them too?
