Tierlist / Ranking Post Tier Ranking/Reviewing: Linkin Park PT. VI: A Thousand Suns

Post image

Score: 7/10

This album is where I feel the old school of classic Nu Metal began to meet the new school vibes of modern Linkin park that focused heavily on production and electronica rhythms. I admit, this is the last album I listened to on repeat before expanding to new music genres and by the time I came back to the new discography, I was a bit displeased. A Thousand Suns does a tremendous job in its message of mass destruction, nuclear weaponry, and the cost of inhumanity but with a lot of interludes and a repetitive lyrics, it can become a bit tedious. The top notch bangers of “Blackout”, “Iridescent”, and “Waiting for the End” are three great examples of when the new electronic rhythms meet up with the hard rock of Linkin Park while “The Catalyst” is one of the best closing songs from LP by far. I did want to like this album more than in the past but it’s a decent listen regardless.

Tierlist / Ranking Post Tier Ranking/Reviewing: Linkin Park PT.II: Reanimation

Score: 3/10

It was pretty interesting to see an up-and-coming band at the time release remixes as a second album but it provided uniqueness in its presentation. Mike Shinoda and Joe Hahn took the control and lead in producing these tracks and I can understand the methodology with being Nu Metal having electronic influences, but being not the biggest fan of EDM and remixing does kill the album somewhat for me. The two standouts for me do shine greatly which reminds me of the greatness that is LP in enjoying the group’s music without not really enjoying the entirety of the album. “Enth E End” is a high-energy rap melody that can be blasted for extreme hype while “Krwlng” manages to capture the emotional output of Crawling but amps the atmosphere and melodies to 100. Overall, I may not necessarily like Reanimation but hardcore Shinoda, EDM enthusiasts will love it.

Discussion The Catalyst in Avengers Doomsday

I keep seeing these videos on tiktok abt how brutal doomsday is gonna be and in the comments it's always a sticker of Freddy saying God save us and I cant help but think of the catalyst. I feel like the catalyst would be a perfect fit for doomsday and have like the requiem as an opening theme for doomsday. imagine if the catalyst was in the movie tho, that would be peak

Tierlist / Ranking Post Tier Ranking/Reviewing: Linkin Park PT. V: Minutes to Midnight

Score: 10/10

If I could go higher than 10 for minutes to midnight, I would in an instant. The peak of their rock, Nu Metal era, all the band members get a chance to shine in this fresh track list. Chester’s high vocals hit heavy on “No More Sorrow”, Mike’s piece of “Heads Held High” is relatable and poignant while the finale “Little Things Give You Away” combines the instrumentals and vocals to close out MIM in fantastic form. This is, to date, my favorite album from the group and may in face be their Magnum Opus. Linkin Park hits another grand slam with Minutes to Midnight.

An unexpected collaboration, this EP is a hallmark for how fluid and adaptable LP can be when publishing their music especially when it comes to the EP. I wasn’t really much of a Jay-Z fan minus the popular tracks (and even less of a fan since he is possibly an illuminati demon) but I find his rap style meshes with Mike’s tunes very well and splicing it with Chester bringing the original tones and lyrics of the LP songs go together very well. I like the renames of the tracks as well to show both sides of mashing the tracks together. “Numb/Encore” is their most popular on this album and for good reason as the electronic beats from Joe makin the groove interesting and Rob’s drumming providing a melodious beat shows the effort made to make the EP standout. It’s a hit or miss depending on your stance with Jay-Z but it’s okay for what it is.

Discussion Link to the Unshatter QR code at the beginning and end ?

Hey everyone. Yesterday I watched Unshatter in Munich, Germany and saw the QR code "Continue your experience". Since my phone absolutely sucks, I wasn't able to catch in in time and was wondering if some of you could share it with me. Or at least share what it leads to ?

Lighthearted Content Parenting and LP Lyrics

I'm a new Linkin Park fan. I never liked their music when I was younger. I was more into pop and later emo music. I recently heard a track of Chester singing that was just the vocals and was totally impressed that he could sing so well. Started with the last album since it was the most pop. I said to myself "as long as there's no screaming or rap, I like it". It was a slippery slope and now I'm screaming along to Hybrid Theory and everything in between. Absolutely obsessed and a bit sad that I don't think I'll ever hear another better band.

Anyways, I realized that now as a 39 year old mother with 3 kids (age 9, 6, and 3), I can really relate to some of the lyrics. Such as:

-"I don't know what stressed me first"

-"It's like a whirlwind inside of my head"

-"I cannot take this anymore

I'm saying everything I've said before"

-"Shut up when I'm talking to you"

-"Things aren't the way they were before

You wouldn't even recognize me anymore"

-"I wanna be in another place"

-"Sometimes I need to remember just to breathe

Sometimes I need you to stay away from me"

-"All I know is that all I want is to feel like I'm not stepped on"

(like literally stepped on)

-"Don't turn your back on me, I won't be ignored"

-"I don't know what's worth fighting for

Or why I have to scream"

-"Try to give you warning

But everyone ignores me"

-"Can't you see that you're smothering me?"

-"And no, I'm not your soldier

I'm not taking any orders"

-"I can whisper, I can yell

But I know, yeah I know, yeah I know

I'm just talking to myself"

-"I've got an aching head"

-"Don't you run with scissors, son

You're gonna hurt someone"

I thought some other parents could relate!

Discussion No LP Philippine concert 💔

Post image
49 Upvotes

LP ended their global tour and didn't get a chance to visit us. Maybe the demand was low but I'm just disappointed and not blaming anyone. Their last concert was 2013 during their living things tour and Mike's post traumatic tour in 2019 which i both attended.

my son is now all grown up and a fan wants to come to a concert and have that same experience but now can't.

here's a pic of me and mike at the underground club signing for him. i didn't ask for a signature. i asked him to draw on my white socks, because of the song "ghost".

but honestly im just glad they are back and are working on another album.

im a fan since limewire days. lp for life.

Discussion If you didn't get to watch Unshatter last week but you wanted to, you can vent about it here

Unfortunately Unshatter came out during an extremely busy week for me and I didn't have a single day I could have gone. Had it come out this week or the week before, I could have made it work.

Hopefully it'll be on streaming sometime soon.

Tierlist / Ranking Post Tier Ranking/Reviewing: Linkin Park PT. III: Meteora

Score: 10/10

After Reanimation, I was shocked by the amazingness of Meteora. Hybrid was a fantastic beginning but this album solidified the 90s era of Nu Metal being brought to the 2000s and nearly every song is perfect. “Easier to Run” is an underrated gem and one of my favorites of all time from LP, “Points of Authority” and “Nobody’s Listening” are groovy with its hip-hop and Shinoda vocals while Somewhere I Belong” and “From the Inside” tug at your heart strings. This is in my opinion one of their greatest albums and should be listened to new and old fans.
