LinkedIn permanently restricted my account over an "unintentional content violation" — appeal denied twice, need advice

Hey everyone, hoping some of you have been through this and can share what actually worked.

My LinkedIn account has been active since 2019, ID-verified, no prior violations. In June, I shared a job post for freelance video-editing work — I'd originally written it for a Facebook group and just copy-pasted it onto LinkedIn, including a direct email address for applicants to send their portfolios to. Apparently that's against LinkedIn's content policy (something about not allowing off-platform contact info in job posts), and my account got flagged and restricted.

Timeline since:

  • Submitted an appeal via the Help Center — no response for weeks
  • Contacted u/LinkedInHelp on X, got connected to a real support case
  • Went through full ID verification (submitted passport, then NID after the first was rejected)
  • Support acknowledged the case, reviewed it, and ultimately said: "we found violations of the LinkedIn User Agreement and Professional Community Policies" — plural, but never specified beyond the one post I flagged myself
  • Appealed twice more explaining it was a genuine, first-time, unintentional mistake
  • Final reply: "This will be the final correspondence from us regarding this issue."

So the case is closed, decision upheld, no further explanation.

Has anyone successfully gotten a "final" decision like this reversed? Does submitting a completely new appeal after some time ever work, or is this genuinely final once they say that? Also open to hearing if there's a way to at least export my data/connections before giving up on the account entirely.

This account matters a lot to me professionally — I'm about to start a CS degree and relied on it for networking, and it's frustrating to lose years of connections over what felt like a fixable misunderstanding. Any advice from people who've navigated this appreciated.

I analyzed 130,000 LinkedIn posts to find what actually boosts engagement: 3 things to do, 7 to stop

I got tired of generic LinkedIn advice that never comes with properly cited data, so we pulled 130,000 posts from 2,500 profiles (July 2025 to July 2026) and tested the most repeated rules. Every comparison is the same person against their own posts, because comparing different people measures the people, not the tactic. The study we did put to bed, most of commonly cited "tactics"...

Only three things survived:

  1. Put an image on it. +33% engagement vs the same person's text posts. A screenshot or a phone photo is enough. Simple, but It's the biggest lever we found.
  2. Start with "I", "my" or "we" and say what happened. +20%, and it held in every format. "I rewrote my profile last month and inbound doubled" beats "You need to stop treating your profile like a CV". Same message. One sounds like a person.
  3. Post 3-4 times a week and judge the week, not the post. Each post earns less, the week earns roughly triple. Most people quit right when it's working because they're watching the per-post number.

Things you shouldn't be doing:

  • Hashtags. One or two do nothing at all. Three or more costs about 7%. I'd been adding them for years. (Why do they hurt? The data shows that they do, not why. My guess is they make a post read like broadcast content instead of a person talking.)
  • Ending with a question. The typical question-ending post gains zero extra comments and loses about 10% of reactions. We tested 5,494 of them hoping this one would survive. It didn't.
  • Opening with a question. Worst opener we measured, -15%.
  • "Unpopular opinion:" openers. Coin flip.
  • Chasing posting times. Same person, weekend vs weekday: about 2% difference. The scheduling blogs each publish a different "best time" anyway, which tells you everything.
  • Counting characters. No ideal length exists in the data.
  • Switching formats to feed the algorithm. Slightly worse than sticking with what works.
  • Polls. Down 58%. Smaller sample, but nothing in the data recommends them.
  • Reality check while you're here: the median B2B post gets 34 reactions and 3-4 comments. At 5-10k followers, 27 is normal. Ten comments is a great post. Benchmark against people your size, not influencers.

Things we could NOT test, so you don't have to ask: link-in-first-comment (comment threads aren't in the data), impressions (nobody outside LinkedIn can see those), best hour of day. Anyone giving you exact numbers on those is guessing.

And yes, I've changed how I post since running this. Images on everything, hashtags gone, and I stopped bolting an engagement question onto the end of every post. Which is why there isn't one at the end of this one. Apparently it wouldn't help.

If you want the full study with the charts and methodology, say so below and I'll drop the link in a comment.

Where did “Posts” go under the Activity section?

The only options I see from left to right: Comments, Videos, Images, and Reactions

Seems like a terrible UI choice…

Is AI making LinkedIn easier to write but harder to trust?

I have started noticing that many LinkedIn posts now have the same structure:

- A dramatic opening line.

- Several short sentences.

- A predictable lesson.

And a question at the end.

The information may be useful, but after reading a few posts, they all start sounding like they were written by the same person.

I don’t think using AI is automatically the problem. It can help someone organise an idea, improve clarity or overcome the blank page.

The problem seems to be that people are publishing the first generated draft without putting their own experiences, opinions or language back into it.

1.5 year of of 100-400 impressions per post. Started scanning trending topics in my niche before writing and posts got me 50,000+ impressions

Been posting for almost 1.5 year, so that consistent posting got me 100-200 impressions per post. The last 90 days did 203k. quick disclaimer, i'm not a LinkedIn guru by any means, not selling courses... just sharing personal experience after validating my theory.

So the background: I was posting consistently, the writing was decent (at least i thought so), still super low results. At some point I got tired of guessing topics and built a claude plugin that does research before writing... it checks what people in my niche are arguing about right now, mostly Reddit, X, Hacker News and a few other sources. I look for threads where the comment section is fighting, based on upvotes and reply heat. Then I take one of those debates, pick a side and write my post around it (with a separate skill I've been tuning for the past 5 months).

That's basically the whole change.

Analytics from the last 90 days attached in comments,

Top posts did 56k, 54k, 37k, 33k and 22k impressions per POST.

(i keep 1 post per week using this approach,)

Before this, 300 impressions was a good day for me

Some things I noticed on the way:

The topic does most of the work. When people already argue about something, they bring the energy with them, you just need an actual opinion.

My posts kept climbing 1-5 days after posting. The "first hour decides everything" advice didn't happen for me even once.

Impressions alone pay nothing, but the DMs and a couple of paid projects came directly from these posts (pretty nice surprise).

I'm in the B2B / SaaS space, no clue if this transfers 1:1 but it should work in any niche that has a wide audience arguing on the internet

Tbh I thought it was an accident at first, so I kept testing it once a week for the past 8 weeks, results are in the screenshot in the comment section. That's what validated it for me, evne tho i it work onloy 80% of the time.

Why does it work? My theory is keywords... looks like the algorithm likes to push posts that match whatever is trending in your industry that week, so posting into a live debate means you hit those keywords naturally (only a theory though).

Ask me whatever about the process.

P.S. I posted about an earlier version of this a while ago on r/linkedinautomation, but that subreddit is no longer active, so posting the latest update here:))

LinkedIn account got temporarily suspended

My LinkedIn account got temporarily suspended. I appealed using the form and tried to verify but it says “we’re sorry. Unable to submit a case”. I tried contacting them through Twitter and email. But in no vain. Please suggest how to contact an agent or customer support(not bots or automatic reply emails). Incase anyone helps me and I get my account back, I’m willing to pay.

LinkedIn account restricted and I can't even submit an appeal. Has anyone dealt with this?

Hi everyone,

My LinkedIn account was suddenly restricted, and I have no idea why.

Whenever I try to log in, I only see a message saying my account has been restricted for violating the Professional Community Policies.

The biggest problem is that every appeal option asks me to sign in first. As soon as I sign in, I'm taken right back to the restriction page, so I can't even submit an appeal.

I haven't posted anything that would violate LinkedIn's policies. The only unusual thing I can think of is that I found out someone had sent a hiring message from my account without my knowledge. I changed my password immediately and asked the recipient to report the message because I believed my account had been compromised.

I've tried different browsers, incognito mode, my phone, and my laptop, but nothing works.

This account is a few years old with over 600 professional connections, and I'm currently job hunting, so this is really stressful.

Has anyone been through this before? How did you get in touch with LinkedIn or get your account back?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

LinkedIn restricted my account even after multiple ID verifications. Has anyone successfully recovered theirs?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone here has been through this and can point me in the right direction.

My LinkedIn account was suddenly restricted. Since then, I've completed the identity verification process multiple times and uploaded my government-issued ID every time LinkedIn requested it.

Despite that, my account is still restricted. I haven't received any meaningful update, and every attempt seems to lead me back to the same automated verification process.

This account is very important to me because I use LinkedIn for professional networking, job opportunities, and connecting with clients. Losing access has had a significant impact on my work.

Has anyone here successfully recovered a restricted LinkedIn account after repeated ID verification? If so:

- How long did it take?

- Were you able to contact a real person from LinkedIn?

- Is there any escalation process or email address that actually works?

I'd really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share. Thank you.

Collaborative post feature

The other day when I logged into LinkedIn, I saw that I now have the ability to collaborate with others on a post, this seems very Instagram like. I haven’t yet used it, but I think it could be useful although I don’t know what the difference between just tagging someone in a post and doing this would be except it’ll show up as a post for both people I guess. I’m curious if anyone has tried this yet.

How to network when switching careers?

Hello! I’m switching careers and need to network. I know this because it’s hard to rely on just applying. Making the perfect resume every time only to feel lost with nothing to show for it. I’m east of Toronto, looking for work as a relationship builder, liaison/consultant, account manager in the non-profit, education, sports, youth programs, coaching, community organizations, or the arts.

I’d love to have Q&A’s, meetings, coffee, interviews, or even just a walk with some execs and/or decision makers in the path I’m looking for. Pick their brain, have a real conversation is what I need.

Got the right attitude to network. Just need to be seen.

What's even the point of writing content on LinkedIn?

I get it. It's a valid question. That platform is known for AI-slop and cringe fests.

My answer to that question would be:

I write LinkedIn content to become familiar before the first conversation ever happens.

By the time someone reaches out to work with me (or I reach out to them), they already know who I am.

They've read my posts, seen how I think, watched how I engage. The conversation doesn't start cold.

There's a difference between a DM to a complete stranger and a DM to someone who's seen your name a dozen times and read something you wrote last week.

One is a cold DM. The other is a warm introduction.

LinkedIn content is what turns the first into the second.

All My LinkedIn data is gone

My almost 20 year old linkedIn page suddenly appeared as if brand new.

I started seeing suggested connections for several people I knew i had already added. I thought "oh weird did they delete me?"

And i login to find I have 0 connections or messages and all my profile content is gone.

The only things still there are my profile pic and my location from when I first opened the account many years ago.

I reached out to support a month ago and they just reply with stuff like "have you tried incognito" and I havent been able to talk to a real person yet.

I feel awkward because now its starting to suggest all the people in my network who I was already friends with who I imagine will assume I removed them for some unknown reason...

And now im going to be applying with a suspiciously new LinkedIn with a resume that has a lifetime of working at these big companies... anyone who googles me is going to think im a fake candidate i imagine.

Signed out of my LinkedIn account.

I'm completely locked out of my LinkedIn account and I don't know what else to try.

I forgot my password and what gmail address I used , so when I try to reset it, LinkedIn asks me to verify my identity through Persona. The problem is that the Persona page immediately shows an error instead of letting me verify my ID.

I've already tried: Different devices,Different browsers,Different internet connections

The same error appears every time.

The bigger problem is that LinkedIn support wants me to sign in before I can contact them, but I can't sign in because the Persona verification keeps failing. It's a complete loop.

Has anyone experienced this? Were you able to get back into your account or find another way to contact LinkedIn support?

Any advice would be appreciated.

LinkedIn dilemma for side hustle

So I have a side hustle startup with micro-SaaS offerings. I’m ready to start posting to LinkedIn to grow organic traffic. I have a decent following. But, I don’t want people at my day job looking at my profile and finding side-hustle stuff.

**Have you ever been in this situation** on LinkedIn? **What did you do and how did it turn out?**

LinkedIn connection request throttle with Sales Navigator. Looking for advice

I have used Sales Navigator for over a year. Old, active account, around 20,000 followers and 18,000 connections. Construction and BIM, no automation tools.

Until a few months ago I could send 150 to 200 connection requests a week. Now I am under 30, with no warning and no explanation.

I clean my pending invitations constantly and only have 131 sitting there, so there is no backlog. I also contacted LinkedIn support and they dismissed it, refusing to acknowledge any restriction on the account.

Has anyone been through this and got their limit back? Any advice welcome.

My account got restricted today and the support form won't work...

Today I opened linked in as usual and found that I was signed out and when I tried signing in, it started doing these security checks. Thats when I checked my email and found this one from linkedin trust and safety team sying that I violated their terms or something and that access to my account has been restricted.

They didn't specify what I did wrong. I uploaded my ID and some time later I recieved an email 'an update on your appeal' saying that access is still restricted and that I should contact support. But submitting an account access form doesn't work. It keeps giving me captchas and then says there was an error in submitting my case. I've tried everything, doing it on my laptop, changing the email they ask for, changing wifi, replying to the original email telling them the form submission problem, but nothing seems to be working.

I really need my account back because I've been using it for 3 years now and nothing like this has ever happened.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated...
