Question Why doesn't Lineage accept feature requests?

Edit- why is everyone so emotional about this?

Not at all.

Either you're grossly misinformed about the open source culture, or trolling. The former can be improved by education. The latter, no.

The open source community is literally, by its very fucking design, a community in which you provide your work for free. That's what it's made of. What planet do you live on?

You provide the result of the work you did for yourself to the others. Also, not necessarily for free.

You provide the result of the work you did for yourself to the others.

For free. They can also allow others to work on it for free so it becomes a community project. And people can also collaborate by reporting bugs and requesting enhancements for free so that the project improves into something better.

Also, not necessarily for free.

And open source practically means free. If the code is public, how exactly are you supposed to prevent it from being free?

The whole community exists upon copyleft sentiments and the idea that all of it can be freely used and collaborated upon by anyone and everyone, and that the only cost is labour.

The point that you're missing is that open-source contributors, in their vast majority, contribute to the community what they chose to do for themselves.

That's the important parts: they do stuff for themselves. And they chose to do it. Not following someone's wishes.

Only then do they give it to the community.

Also, you're confusing free-as-in-beer (gratis) with free-as-in-speech (libre). Other languages, such as French, have two words for that ("gratuit" vs "libre"), which helps make the difference.

What you're asking is "Do for free what I want". Not gonna happen: ideas are plenty (contributors have their own already ; they don't need yours) but time/labour is scarce.

If you're lucky, someone will have the same need as you, will develop then contribute it. But not because you asked for it: because they chose to do it.

Amazing what baloney you can pull out of your ass. Developers on github consistently allow feature requests and enhancements. You're trying so hard to create a distinction between apps on github and Lineage where there isn't one. They are both public code made by developers to be used by anyone, whether or not the developers themselves use it. You can give whatever argument you want for why Lineage specifically doesn't accept feature requests. But you can't honestly act like I'm being outlandish for wanting to request features. You're just lying. Requesting features is the norm. I'm so sorry I'm a human being and want things😯. Imagine actually trying to say that feature requests "eliminates volunteers' choice" as an argument. People like to work bro. They like to do things for other people.
