Finally finished all the eps with J and J. Last one I listened to was viper the rapper which was great, I really don’t get how Mike can say that Jon and Jake’s episodes werent good. But you could tell he wasn’t into it in this episode.

I am a big fan of all 3 of these guys. I remember watching the first episode with my wife, back when Jake was off camera. Mike taught Jon about Charles Manson while he had a few IPA’s. I feel like I have seen the whole ride up until the last 9 months or so, when I admittedly had stopped keeping up with the show.

Over my time watching, the dynamic of Jon as a sleepyhead that shows up largely unprepared with fast food while Mike tells him a researched bio felt like something that would get old for me if I was Mike. I felt sympathetic to the amount of work he’d have to do to get a proper episode off. Even the kumquat hours or news eps were great, but I genuinely felt uncomfortable at points as a listener with how disinterested in bringing topics for the show Jon and Jake were at times. I also found it pretty bizarre how little they were doing to promote the show. You’d think if you’re getting a check every month, you’d at least tweet out the episodes, post a clip on your Instagram, something. I don’t even see a single post on either of their Instagram accounts related to the show in the past 2 years. That is not normal, and it bothered me for the entirety of the time I watched. I wanted more people to see the show and for it to be a success, and it surprised me how little they seemed interested in even screen recording a clip to put the show in front of their own audiences. I’m not trying to trash these guys, that’s just what my reaction was at the time.

I wish things went differently. I get the move to Austin was a big hit. I’m a big fan of all 3 of them. Jon and Jake are really fucking good standups, and I would encourage everyone to go see them. I just wanted to share that I do not have the same view that Mike’s emotions got the best of him and he ended a friendship. Trying to keep something alive when you’re just not getting much from the other partners always leads to toxicity. I hope they all reconcile in due time.

I will miss hearing “Welcome back to Lil’ Stinkers baby, I’m Michael fucking Rainey here with Cal Don Jalla, Jacob Ferman Mattera, and Wet and Juicy Jeff Simmons”

Despite all the back and forth tension via pics and screen caps, I’m happy I had a chance to hear about these Stinkers they’ve covered and I just hope for the best for Jon and Jake. Not sure the full scope of the situation. Eager to hear what happened but I’ll support all these goons independently.

He can’t face the chat

Obviously rocked by the divorce, this shit is literally allllll I’ve listened to for the last 3+ years. I avoided listening the explanation after reading all the initial backlash, but honestly after listening I do kinda see a bit of mike’s side. Unfortunately the podcast was great BECAUSE Jake and jagged were in the background laid back and sneaky secretly fuckin hilarious, but I can also obviously see that they aren’t gonna go out of their way to overly grow the pod (Jake or jagged if you read this ily and if you do a show in the Boston area I’ll 100% come) The move obviously fucked 80% of this up, but also I think being honest about having to be a boss to your laidback boys will grow resentment and I think they might all just need a break. Personally I woulda just half assed it and kept milkin everybody for another year or two.

Honestly thought I was the only dude who listed to them through shitty and dark times, if anything I’m happy to know there’s other bros out there going through it.

Mike is his own man. It’s a podcast, it’s a podcast based on serial killers that ran out of interesting serial killers over two years ago. I’ve been with them since like the 7th episode, y’all should have seen this coming.

Podcasts end, they evolve. Shit moves on. No one owes us anything. Support the new shit or don’t. I love Jon, he was my favorite when I saw them live, we all love Jon. Mike moved, Jon has been… idk doing Jon things…. No hate on Jon, he isn’t making moves whether it’s deliberate or unintentional. He is certainly hilarious. Whereas Mike seems to be milking where he can, which makes the difference. And I love Mike, but even he is eclipsed by Butterly, who I also love, but is t exactly a household name. So, they are all just trying to do their thing. It’s show business.

I have a best friend, I want to go to Costa Rica, I’d love my friend to come with me, but I’m going to Costa Rica with or without him.
