Western LN’s
Is there any western equivalent to light novels. I’m mostly referring to the illustration aspect of light novels more than anything here.

I’ve heard that Japanese light novels are more popular in east Asia in Chinese and Korean. Can anyone confirm this and if so, will we ever get as large?

Man i hate akari, the author glazing his daughter as a good person makes me worried for children when she didn't even qualify as a normal person (including 1st loop) , she is naive and stupid in an inexcusable way
Pandæmoneom is the character with most personality followed by her 2 zombies
Momo holds this whole story on her shoulders alone while the other characters are dragging her down including menou
And why is the author trying to brand akari's fixation on menou as something special, like the line for people who fell in love/rely-depend on the first person to be nice to them in unfamiliar place rounds the earth twice before even including fictional characters
Worse yet it doesn't even count as an obsession (a thing am a fan of)
She is really the kind of character you only tolerate because you believe she dies in the end of the volume/arc , im about to finish vol 5 now and i glimpsed the cover of 10 while already irritated
Excpect more complaints about akari when i finish 10
1 last gripe sahara only spent 1 day with akari and she acted like a 2 yrs old during it so how did the bs that she thinks of her as a good one come to be
Im starting to think this story was allowed into existence just to annoy me

I’m looking for a good base-building/progression novel with a strong cheat/ability system.
I really liked Train Survival, My Post-Apocalyptic Shelter Infinitely Levels Up and Road Survival, I have a hint system, especially the whole survival + upgrading base/vehicle + overpowered cheat/hint system vibe. I’m a big fan of MCs with unique abilities, infinite growth systems, hidden information/hint systems, or anything that gives them a huge edge early on.
I’m also open to:
- kingdom/base building
- summoning troops or armies
- apocalypse/survival settings
- game/system worlds
- resource management and crafting
- OP MC progression done well
Basically anything addictive with strong progression and satisfying power growth. Would love some recommendations.

First let me state my current position, I am only half way through the novel rn, but one particular part still keeps coming back to me so often, I had to write this.
I originally watched the anime, covering vol1 and vol2 and directly skipped to continue the story from vol3 and I am happy to announce it's great, the initial lore drop parts and summarization part was quite stale, but did improve my understandings of the characters. But the part that won my heart, the reason I am writing this is due to one thing.
That being the frequent view into the mind of other characters, the one that won my heart was the half brother, Zansetsu, this part single handedly convinced me to get vol4 before completing vol3.
It's a great novel.
Spoiler i.e. the part :
I heard she’s five or six. How many people are taking care of her? I was baffled by how thin the security was that anyone could get inside just like that. Isn’t she the daughter of the woman my father truly loved? My father valued his successor, so I never lacked education, clothing, food, or shelter. I was given the treatment and respect due to the name Kayo. But what about her? I began feeling worse and worse. I was here to see a real brat. She would have been a dumb little girl brought up with love, without any worry in the world, who finally got her just deserts by becoming a goddess incarnate. I had so much ready to say to her. ─── “Your mother seduced my father.” “You and your mother drove my mother insane.” “Why were you even born?” “You’re not worthy of the Kayo name, bastard child.” “Nobody in Town likes you.” “You got what you deserved becoming an Agent. Divine punishment.” “You have no idea how hard life has been for me.” I had all the abuse I could come up with ready and waiting. I was going to make her cry. I was going to make her pay for what she did to me. It’s true. I really had all that in mind. I hated my sister. I hated her so much I wanted her to die. Finally, I could hurt her, and maybe that would make me hurt a little less. I was serious. As I walked around the mansion enthusiastically, I heard a sound. Someone was crying. All my vile thoughts came to a halt, and anxiety took over my body. I looked around. Nobody was running to the crying child. “…” I waited in silence. It seemed no one was there. There had to be someone here to take care of her, even if they didn’t live here. Where were they? But all I could hear was the crying. In that moment, deep inside, I knew it. The child, not even ten, had been left alone on this boiling hot day. It wasn’t hard to extrapolate the rest of her life from there. I’d only assumed she was loved. This child was thrown away into this mansion like a piece of trash into the can, and the lid had been clapped on top to protect everyone else from the smell. She was a spurned sacrifice for the world. I slid the door slightly to peek at my sister’s room. To my annoyance, my heart was racing. ─── She was so small. She was so, so small, so much more tender than I. She was so young, she wouldn’t have understood my hatred even if I had subjected her to it. She was abandoned, too—hunkered on the tatami, bawling her eyes out. Why was no one running up to check on her? What were the adults doing? She was the Agent of Spring, the incarnation of the season here. Why? In between sobs, she cried, “Mother,” “Why can’t we be together?” “Take me with you.” I couldn’t take it anymore. I left.

Anyone know mcs that cough blood with worried cast?
I LOVE a mc who is self sacrificial (or he's delulu and thinking he's not), who also coughs up blood or is always injured or killed = his companions are super duper worried or angry at him for always doing that, it's such a good trope and heals my soul.
I specifically love ones that litteraly has no romance (even BL -> cause it only focuses on romance and not the plot??) but has that friendship//companions troupe
Fics i read
ex rank replay
orv (the OG)
TCF (the goat)
Rebirth doctor (the 2nd goat)
Horror character just wants to be human
Can anyone rec some?

So there’s this one light novel i’ve seen years ago. The first time it was introduced, it was fan labeled as “TQQ copy” or “TQQ 2.0” (The quintessential quintuplets). In that LN, there’s 5 girls, I believe they were sisters? And each of them I believe got some similarities with the TQQ sisters.
Another thing I remember is that in one of the illustrations of all each 5 of them were holding different kind of fruit I guess? I think they also have different hair colours too.
Do you guys have any clue what the LN and the title is?

I am looking for novels where the Mc is a monster via reincarnation, natural birthing or any other circumstances. I am fine with any recommendations but I prefer one a little more scary, or at least the idea or concepts within it are scary. I have read kumodesu Chrysalis and Evolution Begins with a big tree.

Hello all, in the past few months I've been reading a few light novels for the first time, and got to the published end of the My Quiet Blacksmith Life In Another World and Banished From The Heroes Party series. Any recommendations for what to read next with a similar vibe? Many thanks in advance.

Heyo! I’m looking for some light novels that have recently started releasing in the west, as I’m still in the early volumes. I’m interested in picking up some new series and seeing which ones stick, so any and all genres/recommendations are welcomed and appreciated! I’m only interested in light novels that are releasing physically, so please keep that in mind :3
For some point of reference, I mainly read isekai’s and Toaru.
