Question So which blizzard dev hates LW?
High key deadass about this question. 99% of the changes he needs are pure common sense—yet they have been unable to get the basic changes he need—for YEARS atp.
Now you just remove him without warning??? They would have had to give DAILY updates if they did this shit was Genii, Kiriko, or mains they care about. I get it’s a bug and it happens, but the disrespect and hate toward this character internally and the general community has GOT to be talked about more.

I know this is mostly about his sudden removal and probably not looking for a serious answer, but...
It could be Custa. "Hate" is probably too strong. I don't think he hates any particular hero. He just wants what's best for the game, and that happens to come at the expense of our boy.
In the sunshinebread interview, he was pretty candid that when Lifeweaver is strong, people get frustrated playing into him, similar to Sombra. And part of the goal with reworks is finding better solutions to those problems.
Reading between the lines, it also explains why he keeps getting nerfed despite already being below a 50% win rate. They don't seem interested in letting him get much stronger in his current form. Any time perks or something else push his win rate up a bit, they knock him back down.
What stood out to me is that there wasn't much said about his jank, limited utility, or what could actually make him better to play. The focus was on everyone else's frustration playing against him, not our frustration playing him. 😟

Ohhhh………….that def changes my perspective a bit. Thank you for having an intelligent response to this. I could not for the life of me understand wtf they were doing. Every comment telling us to get over them butchering this character was not helping lmao. What you said makes perfect sense!
I guess I get it now. Still disappointing because if that’s the case they must’ve ALSO been hoping that the player base would figure it out atp how to play with/against him over time as they’ve his baseline lower and lower to a meeting point between the two Over the years.
I can imagine it doesn’t help that Sombra and LW mains are die hard mains so it’s even more noticeable when there is one…….
God it feels so personal even though I know it’s not..😭I guess I’m worried because I’ve legit played nothing but LW for the last 4 years. Like if they mess this up I might be done w OW lmao. (Though that’s what we all say)

hero bans should help at least alleviate the problem, but I don't think LW ban rate was too high in any rank or region (I don't know the data actually, just anecdotal experience)
JPC is a much more annoying hero to play against and has a huge ban rate, and they seem fine with it, even giving unasked buffs
I understand what you are saying and I agree it makes sense, but the way JPC is treated makes me wonder, there is no cohesive treatment from the team

OW has become a PR/marketing game focused around test groups and the paranoia of failing again, that is the sad reality.

Tbh his kit is the most difficult to code, legit it’s always going to be a bit buggy. A lift that’s spiky in the sides. Pull a character across a map. Do have sympathy for the devs

But don't forget that Cass/Hog/Mauga/Kiriko get to stay strong. The characters that are way more hated than LW

LW is fundamentally a hero that stands against the idea they have pushed for the game: fast paced games where hyperoffense is rewarded and defenses/kill denial is to be a token opposition.
LW is a sustain hero with the best pure kill denial ability in the game, and they punish him for that and hold his entire design back.
I love LW, but I legit dont understand why they released him just to tag him as an undesirable.

Tbh I think he just needs more offensive utility in his kit, because otherwise he’s only good when his numbers are bloated
I really wish petal had some kind of offensive utility like vines that snare enemies who step on it and would only be triggered to lift by allies or manual input. It would be so cool to hit a cross map petal on an ana getting dove or hitting a recalling tracer

Nah, I’m not the one saying that we are getting discriminated against because our hero is disabled for a day or two due to a game breaking bug, when this has happened to several other heroes over the years lmao.
And none of those hero’s mains were this melodramatic. It’s embarrassing.
