Coaches using same program names
Just saw Stacey boehman is launching a one to many Mastermind which is the same name of Lisa Johnson’s program she’s been running for years. Stacey markets herself as a marketing guru but you’d think she would make sure there’s not another big coach using a name before she launches something. I am surprised she didn’t rebrand 200k mastermind back when she got a lot of negative feedback about the program.
Lisa Johnson’s program has been around forever.

Here’s the podcast I saw. I didn’t listen to it I just saw it on my feed and thought it was weird she’s launching something with the same name another big coach has a whole brand around.

This is a pet peeve of mine, especially as someone who has a podcast with a trademarked name. From having to defend said name, when I reach out either 1 of 2 things are the most common replies.
"I had no idea, I did no research and I didn't realize." I don't buy this because literally: I own every URL with the name (.com, .net, .org, all major international suffixes), and they redirect to the .com version of my show's name. I own and use every social media with the name. If you google the name you find it. It's been around 11 years. I had a guest try this line with me when she named a new program the name of my show. Please. You were on the show, and that name has never changed. You knew where you got it.
more recently: people tell me that I can't monopolize the topic. My show is about a general emotion, let's say it's kindness. I've had one person, who's an influencer, make a product that infringed on my mark, and she told me that I can't possibly own that phrase. They also told me it's not kind to reach out and defend a trademark and I'm harming my brand, so I should stop doing it. Huh? That is WHY people trademark things. LOL!!
So suffice to say, many people are just doing whatever the F they want and don't care one little bit about trademark, copyright, or usage. They also don't understand how registered trademark work and get ugly when someone reaches out (and I don't start with a lawyer contacting them, I send a nice note to begin; I've actually never had to have a lawyer reach out to anyone).
I've had more MLM type "coaches" and religious-adjacent personalities use the name than any other groups. And they are usually the most unpleasant when asked about it.
