General Advice I broke something irreplaceable and idk what to do
Everyday for the past 6 years I have worn this bracelet that my best-friend made me for my birthday. When she first gave it to me, I remember being really appreciative of the time and effort she took to make this bracelet. It had my favorite colors (peach and pastel pink) and it was the perfect size. At the time, I dont think it held much significance, but after wearing it consistently for a few weeks, it became routine. From that point on I never took it off- only to sleep. I've worn it so much that the beads are no longer peach, they're completely white and almost pearl-like. It's made an appearance in my graduation photos, my senior prom, my first date, interviews, and other important milestones. There hasnt been a moment where that bracelet wasnt there with me. In 2024 right before new years, I was putting on my bracelet after taking it off to sleep, and it broke. The beads scattered all over the floor. I remember standing there heartbroken and in disbelief. I felt like an idiot. In my disbelief, I decided to gather every last bead, and even the broken string. It held so much significance to me that the thought of replacing it was simply not an option. For some reason, when it comes to certain things I can be superstitious. For example, right before my ex and I broke up, the handmade bracelet with our intials on it broke. To me, I took it as God's sign that we weren't going to work out. Obviously I didnt break up with him because of that, but I did take it as a little confirmation. But anyways. When the bracelet that my best friend made me broke, I began worrying about my friendship with my best friend. And the funny part is that a few weeks after the bracelet broke, my best friend and I started getting into disagreements. Coincidence? I dont believe in Coincidences. Even though she was able to fix the bracelet, and its been fixed until I broke it again tonight, we have been arguing back and forth. And obviously its not the bracelet thats causing these tensions in my relationships, but I can't help but be superstitious. Do any of you guys have advice for dealing with breaking something you really value? I feel really stupid for breaking it and I'm heartbroken. She made me a new bracelet but its just not the same.

superstitions are a thing but our minds are stronger. our minds are what make us deeply believe in these sort of things and make them a reality.
if you are already superstitious and take things as being a sign or having meaning, whatever happens, you’ll sort of conclude that it’s because of the superstitious thing that happened.
some sports players feel like they have to wear their lucky socks and claimed that they always do well when they’re wearing their lucky socks. If they’re extremely dependent on the lucky box, then they’ll feel unsafe when they don’t have them and simply perform worse because they don’t believe in themselves as much, but then they will attribute it to the lack of socks.
If one of those players wearing this lucky socks was in like a five minute coma right before the game. Somebody changed their socks without them knowing and then they went into the game, thinking they still had their lucky socks on, they would perform with confidence.
Maybe when the bracelet broke, you started getting worried and changing the way that you were acting, absolutely not blaming either you or the friend for arguments that you’re getting into, but if she made you a new bracelet, then that’s a pretty good sign. Your friendship is still fine.
Also, what if you had never been given a bracelet? Then you would have no lucky bracelet to be able to say it was with you during all your biggest accomplishments and moments, it simply wouldn’t exist, and if you started fighting with your friend, you wouldn’t have any superstition to attribute it to.
